It was ok. But I could have the same experience for cheaper elsewhere.
Pros:

Breakfast was great. We asked them to serve us quick as I had an appointment and they did.

Cons:

The room was just ok. We paid $365 for 1 night and it was not as nice as I had stayed in previously so I was disappointed. No plug points next to the bed. Absolutely no view. And the sink in the bathroom was cracked. Room 220.

We had dinner in the restaurant with friends as a table of 4. We were sat at the round table in the middle of the restaurant. I had specifically asked for a great table as this was a reunion. I had overhead lights right above me so it didn't feel intimate. And we were spaced out more than I would have liked due to the table being so big. I wish I had asked for a better table. I was disappointed. The atmosphere was flat as a result. The food and service was excellent though.

Always a pleasure at QT Welly
Pros:

The staff are the real stand outs here. From the moment you arrive you are greeted by the most incredible people.
Dom at reception was a real stand out - helped me with a really stressful situation with great care.

Cons:

My view of the roof next store - but that’s just being picky

Wouldn’t stay here again.
Pros:

The location was good.

Cons:

Our room was on the 1st floor and we heard loud thumping noises a lot. Also, there was a sewer type smell in our room. There was an air purifier running in the bathroom but every couple minutes it made a funny noise so we took the battery out. We told the staff about the smell on 2 different occasions and about the noise and our dissatisfaction with the room. We were thanked for our feedback but there was never any offer to do something about it. It was definitely not worth the cost of this room.

Centrally located, great comfortable bed and lovely staff with great breakfast in quirky setting
Pros:

loved the brekky included. wished it was made clearer that the a la carte choices were part of it along with the buffet which was not clear on first day. Wish there had been oat milk as an option as that was not on the buffet table.
Very clean and the bed was very comfortable.
All staff very professional and friendly.
I have been before and the quirky arty feel suits me just fine! well located as well so all in all a great stay although the price is a tad high to be fair.

Cons:

Price was a bit high as stated. and see above for other details.
Found the black interior of the lift, passageways and the cupboards a bit challenging - would pay to have more light.

The hotel has become rather normal since our last visit. Enjoyable but no longer outstanding.
Pros:

Staff were friendly, especially in Hippo restaurant. Room & bed was comfortable. Easy access to main city centre shops, theaters, & Te Papa museum

Cons:

Restaurant has lost its fine dining aspect & had only 4 choices on the menu. For us the hotel has lost its definitive quirkiness since our last visit, pre-COVID, while retaining some of the museum & artwork pieces it has become just another high-end chain hotel.
Bathroom with moody lighting & wet room floor is hard to use & potentially a safety hazard.

We enjoyed our stay at QT. Not sure we would return as room was depressing.
Pros:

Loved location and breakfast room with view of harbour. Liked quirky decor.

Cons:

Our room was pretty dull- view of wall opposite.
Long wait for car to be returned this morning. It was raining so I suspect it took longer than usual. Staff apologized.
