Pretty, but hard pass
Pros:

I wouldn’t recommend staying here. The location is convenient, and the upgrades are beautiful, but that’s about where the positive things come to a screeching halt.

The air conditioning doesn’t work. Couldn’t get it lower than 75, even when the outdoor temperature got down to 70 degrees at night, so it’s not that the overall system was struggling because it was exceptionally hot outside. The elevators and common spaces were even worse, to the extent that I had the most severe asthma attack I’ve had in years.

The was mold in the shower that easily rinsed down the drain as I sprayed water on it. There’s no way it was even wiped, let alone scrubbed with cleaner.

We noticed odd things missing from our hotel room. Things just small enough that if you complained about it, you sound crazy. Think along the lines of candy bars, that were purchased, half a brand new pack of gum, shoelaces, q tips from our toiletry bag… nothing of actual value, but enough to be a noticeable inconvenience, and to make us feel violated that our belongings were rifled through.

Choose somewhere else unless you absolutely need to. Keep ALL of your things under lock. Wouldn’t be surprised if housekeeping would take the insoles out of your extra pair of shoes you left behind.

Great location and friendly staff
Pros:

Room was in a great location at the end of the hall away from elevators. The bed was extremely comfortable.

Cons:

The elevators were really slow, didn't see an option to take stairs but I'm sure they were around. The room was a little warm and took a while to cool.

Service could improve
Pros:

Prior to arriving we had merged our bookings and received confirmation that we would stay in the same room. Prior to check in we called the hotel again and spoke to the supervisor who confirmed our reservations were merged and we would keep the room for our stay.
While out on Thursday we receive a notification that our new room was ready. After a painful conversation at the front desk we reluctantly moved rooms at the “sold out” hotel. We gave up a lake view for a courtyard view of a closed fountain. After moving rooms we noticed a few broken items in the room along with dirty construction glasses with a strap on the ground. We tried to contact the front desk who directed us to a manager. We called and left a voicemail however received no response.

Additionally while convenient to get to Huntington bank field, there is not much to do in the area alone at night due to the casino. If looking to stay downtown I would look elsewhere as you can have convenience and great service at other hotels in the area.

Pros:

Location

Cons:

I got double billed. I booked through bookings.com and paid in advance to books.com and the hotel charged my card after I checked out. This needs to be resolved.

Avoid!
Pros:

Such a disappointment! Stayed 3 nights for a convention and the service both at the desk and in the restaurant was poor, 3 out of 4 elevators were broken (had to use the employee freight elevator to bring luggage down) and on the last night of our stay, the water to the entire hotel was shut off. We were given bottles of water to add to the toilet in order to flush. The only positive was the valet service company! Definitely avoid, especially for the cost.

One night at the Maker
Pros:

The bar was vibrant. Mike the bartender makes a great drink. Emily, however, is why the bar works. Friendly and efficient she seemed to be handling multiple responsibilities and doing it exceptionally well. Employees like her need to be recognized for their commitment.

Manager Lied
Pros:

Do NOT stay here. Service is the worst. I missed 1 night of my stay (flight cancellation for a conference) and was told by 1 staff person that this charge was my responsibility (understandable) - and then was told by ANOTHER staff person that this charge was removed as a courtesy - and then I was charged for it anyway. When I called to inquire the actual policy, I spoke to an ASSISTANT MANAGER who told me he understood there was miscommunication and would speak to his supervisor. A week later that ASSISTANT MANAGER informed me that his supervisor had approved the refund and it needed to be sent to accounting. A week later I called and spoke to that man's supervisor and she stated the she NEVER approved anything like that and that I am responsible for the no show. I understand that because that's a general hotel policy, but what I can't understand is why your staff is unclear of their own hotel policies. I asked if she's saying that the assistant manager lied to me. She couldn't answer but re stated that she hadn't approved anything. I reiterated that at this point the front desk staff had misinformed me about this AND that an associate manager had lied to me about this and that they clearly cannot get their staff on the same page and I will not recommend them to anyone. It's one thing to be responsible for a no show - standard policy. What's NOT standard is your staff not being on the same page with policy and a manager lying to you. NOOOOPE.

Time travel back to the 1920’s.
Pros:

Amazing historic hotel. As I walked the halls I felt I could run into Hemingway or Picasso.

Cons:

There is a “false entrance” in the front of the building the GPS will take you to. The real entrance is on the north side of the building. Look for the valet parking. Some signs on the locked doors directing you to this would have been helpful.
