Overall, The property is absolutely stunning. It's nestled in between the hills and valley side of San Diego. It is also right in front of a large shopping area that is very upscale and beautiful. The staff from start to finish was absolutely amazing in assisting with anything that we needed. The property is very clean and elegant. I absolutely loved the Continental breakfast as well on this property and if you get a higher for the pool view is absolutely stunning. I really enjoyed my first time visiting California and specifically San Diego, Thank you so much for your wonderful hospitality!!!!!

Close to shopping centers and restaurants
I didn’t like my king size bed in my room, it was too soft and sloppy that made my back was discomfort on the second night sleep in.
I stayed at the San Diego Marriott Mission Valley for what was meant to be a solo self-care weekend, but the experience ended up being far more stressful than relaxing.
I am a wife and a mother who booked this stay specifically for a quiet mental health break and some personal time away. Unfortunately, from the moment I arrived, the stay was filled with repeated issues that disrupted that purpose.
The first room I was assigned on the 16th floor had a very strong rotten egg odor that immediately filled the room and overpowered a heavy cologne-like smell. The odor made the room unusable, so I contacted the front desk and was moved to the 17th floor. The second room still had the same egg-like smell, though slightly less intense, and also had cleanliness and maintenance issues, including hair left in the bathroom and a light fixture that did not work. The room also smelled strongly as though it had been sprayed to mask something rather than properly cleaned.
I was then moved a third time to a room on the 10th floor. While the rotten egg smell was finally gone, the room smelled like chemical or renovation fumes. The bathroom towels were stained, the bathroom did not feel properly cleaned, and there was exposed wiring near a light fixture. By this point it was around 5:00 a.m., and after being moved three times, I was exhausted and felt I had no real option but to stay.
On top of all of this, the air conditioning did not work properly. The unit would not run on high and repeatedly shut off. Maintenance initially explained that the temperature is controlled by the hotel and cannot be adjusted below a certain point, but even on fan mode it was not functioning correctly. The technician ultimately had to repair the unit, confirming that it was broken rather than simply a setting issue.
This stay was supposed to be a calming, restorative experience, but instead the repeated room changes, odors, cleanliness problems, and broken A/C made it more stressful than staying home. The overall experience felt far below what I expect from a Marriott property and closer to a budget motel experience than a full-service hotel.
I am sharing this feedback in hopes that management reviews these issues and improves the guest experience for future stays.

The room and hotel was nice. It was nice to be able to go to M club but the darn coffee machine was always not working. The breakfast was good in the M club was nice to have a made to order omelet with other good selection of items.

We chose this hotel for our ANNUAL FAMILY VACATION because of its proximity to local attractions and its restaurant/ bar, and we were happy with our choice!
The pool is heated, and the large patio area has several fire pits. It is a great place to have a cocktail after an eventful evening.
Everyone's favorite was the Breakfast Buffet. It is well worth the additional rate for the Room/ Breakfast package!!! Omelets are made to order, and the options are yummy and plentiful. Everyone stated that the buffet was the best they had ever had at any hotel. Also, the wait staff is awesome.
The hotel staff was great, and we felt very much at home. KUDOS to management and staff.
Booked the room for a work trip. Great rooms and pretty quiet place, but I was there on a Sunday. The service was great. I am a Bonvoy member so I tend to stick with Marriot properties. Primarily for the late check-out, which is great when traveling for business. This time however I call and ask for late-check out and they say the best they can do is 12p. Check out is 11a. So it wasn't worth it. Outside of that it was good.
Non refundable reservation or we would not have never checked in. Very disappointed! Under construction. Pool closed also due to construction. VERY difficult to get bags to room. Check in clerks talking with each other during check in with no greetings ever. Even when going past them several times. No baggage assistance other than trying to move a cart down stairs around yellow tape and up and down hill to get bags. We had to pay to park on site with no help figuring that out. Room was typical hotel room. We did not care for it. Lots of traffic noice and construction beeping going on.
