Staff was amazing, super friendly and helpful. We ordered room service, food was amazing! Beds were super comfy and everything was clean.
If you don’t want to walk from a parking garage to hotel, vallet is $75. Kinda steep but I have little ones so parking far wasn’t an option. The shower was ok. Hardly any pressure and kind of uncomfortable since there’s only a partial door. Other than that, everything was great!
Ottima scelta per soggiornare a San Francisco. Buona posizione, lontano dal caos e da zone mal frequentate. Camera in ordine e pulita, staff cordiale
Tutto perfetto
Good location, very nice staff, bar service. Refrigerator worked great. We were offered umbrellas as it was raining out. Super comfy beds and room had everything we needed! Great quick overnight stay!
This was my second stay here, the staff is all very helpful and friendly, rooms are comfortable, some smaller but it is SF. Valet is great, and they have good amenities like water refill stations and in room nespresso. Proximity to Union Square is one of the main reasons we love it here
Valet feels expensive, but again it is SF, to be expected
Great hotel in a great location. Staff were friendly and accommodating. Rooms were clean. Beds and pillows comfy. Many food options and convenience stores in walking distance. Close to subway and department stores. Cool rooftop bar but you do have to book to secure a table. Would stay here again.
Awesome incredible stay!!!! The staff. Reception, Doormen. .Bellmen...Cleaning staff..bartenders hostesses at the lounge on the 21st floor were exceptional!!! I want to celebrate my birthday on January 8th here!!! Bring my best friends!!! Reza Michele, Pamela, Franchesca, Sheri, Trish Erik here to party with me at the Beacon Grand...because Grand it is!!! Remarksble!!!
Everything was great!!!
I stayed at the Beacon Grand in San Francisco to celebrate my 50th Birthday and was blown away! First, the hotel is located in the heart of downtown San Francisco. There is a cable car that runs right in front of the hotel! Talk about convenience! Second, the inside of the hotel is STUNNING! The lobby, the bar, our room...absolutely beautiful! Third, the hospitality was exceptional! We were greeted by the doorman who promptly grabbed our luggage and welcomed us. Alex took our luggage to our room AND went out of his way to bring us soft drinks after our long flight. Lastly, do NOT miss out on visiting the Starlite bar on the 21st floor! It absolutely made my birthday! The ambiance is moody and magical! We loved our stay here and would visit again!
The room that we were assigned on check-in upon arrival, we noticed that the bathroom door was faulty so we reported this to reception and were given the choice of either waiting on maintenance or being relocated to another room which we chose. Our luggage was moved for us and we were put onto a higher floor! Great service from the reception staff.
I paid for a noin-refundable special room at the Beacon Grand Hotel and expected that, as a guest, my reservation for their rooftop Starlight Lounge would be honored. Unfortunately, that was not the case. Despite having made reservations well in advance, they were canceled without any warning, apology, or alternative offered.
To make matters worse, I had arranged this visit for a very special out‑of‑town guest, and the cancellation left me embarrassed and scrambling for last‑minute plans. It became clear that hotel guests receive no preference whatsoever for rooftop access, even though this was implied at the time of booking. After securing a non‑refundable room, the hotel simply canceled the rooftop reservation with no notice and no attempt to make the situation right.
So I'm locked into a hotel that treats me with distain.
I attempted to address this directly with the hotel. I visited the front desk in person and was met not with assistance, but with a dismissive sneer and a blank stare and with a downward disregard to move out of the way. When I called the hotel, I was told I had no right to comment on how they treat their guests with regard to the Starlight Lounge. I followed up with an email that was completely ignored, aside from a generic, almost cynical automated message asking what they could do—despite already having described the issue in detail.
Overall, the experience continues to be deeply disappointing and felt both unprofessional and disrespectful. I would caution anyone considering this hotel, especially if their cynically touted rooftop lounge is an important part of their stay.
Nice lobby. Hotel appears to be nice. However, shower was not cleaned evidenced by yellow droplet stains in shower. Possibly urine? Unhygienic. Basic expectation is to have clean shower.
We stayed at Beacon hotel for five days. Our flight was 14 hrs long and we were exhausted upon arrival at around 1:00 pm. After a long wait like 20 - 30 minutes, we managed to check-in but the rooms were not ready till 3pm. Lobby was really small and it was so cold both in lobby and the restaurant sections. Our room was a family room with two queen beds. My sister had a separate room for herself too. Although the bathroom was tiny, the room seemed clean and renovated. Again the room was cold but we turned on the air conditioner and left. The real problem begun at 9 pm, when we finally deserved long awaited sleep. At this point, we were literally depleted. The room was still so cold we couldn’t take a shower but we couldn’t pay attention to that. So the lights went donut guess what we couldn’t sleep whole evening due to motor noise. We thought it was the air ducts or other buildings. The noise is so loud that you feel like you’re on a jet for a never ending flight. In the morning, we changed our rooms four times to no avail. One air conditioning was not functioning at all. The other room was facing the elevator. In the end, we paid additional $150 per night upon our initial $500 payment per night and upgraded to a suite at the top floor there was no adjacent buildings and air ducts. When we listened, we noticed that still there was a rotor sound. The technician finally told us the noise was caused by the motor inside the bathrooms. If bathrooms were insulated there might not have been such a serious problem. Sadly the walls were paper thin and the door was only a sliding panel. We had to choose between two evils; cold or noise. Although the suite had fascinating views all around, the windows were so muddy and filthy that you couldn’t see properly. It was very annoying especially during the day time. When I told the reservation desk to clean them not for my sake but also for the future guests, he told me it was not possible due to technical reasons. All in all; we couldn’t sleep at first but after the third day, we got used to the constant rotor noise and also sleeping with my daughter on sofa bed at the the other room was helpful. We couldn’t eat breakfast leisurely because the restaurant was so cold and food was not delicious despite the high price. Dinner at the first evening was delicious despite being expensive however still it was very cold that we had to dine with our coats on. So we never had breakfast or dinner at Beacon one more time. There is not a separate guest reservations or concierge. Don’t expect tickets or reservations for dinner or shows. There are only two people at reservation desk doing their best to help for everything. Housekeeping came only for making our sofa bed at 8 pm, when we changed our room but older Asian steward complained that it was ‘time for home’. I couldn’t communicate and explain the situation because he was unable to speak English. Generally the hotel was clean, the staff helpful, historical building at centre was my cup of tea and Starlite Club at the rooftop was great. The windows were clean unlike our suite. On the downside, air conditioning is a great problem that needs to be solved urgently. If you would like to sleep, my advice is to look for newer hotels with modern buildings with latest technology. You can visit Beacon for tea with a heavy coat on!!!
We spent one night at the Beacon Grand Hotel, formerly the iconic Sir Francis Drake. Overall, it was a pleasant stay. Our room was nicely appointed with San Francisco-inspired wallpaper and double-paned windows that kept things quiet.
The front desk staff were friendly, and we appreciated the early check-in. The bathroom was small, and the shower stall was especially tight, likely due to the building’s historic 1920s layout.
We only wished the new bar had been open (it was closed for a private event) and that there was more staffing at the front desk.
It is easy to walk to many places across the City from this location, including Chinatown, North Beach, Japantown, and the shops on Filmore Street.
I had a wonderful stay at the Beacon Grand Hotel. What truly stood out was the quality of the staff’s service—from the bartenders to the front desk, every interaction was warm and professional.
Special shoutout to the car valets, Angelo and Dan, who were consistently upbeat, helpful, and kind. They set the tone on arrival and left a great impression on departure.
In today’s busy world, this kind of genuine service can feel rare and make all the difference!
All round beautiful hotel with the most helpful and friendly staff. Alex, on the door and who acted as the bell boy was brilliant. He couldnt have done more for me as I left the hotel. The was friendly, helpful, personable and focused on service. I was so impressed. If only we got this service in the UK. Alex is an asset to the hotel and was a pleasure to meet.
Lovely 4 star hotel located just off Union Square and right on the Cable Car line.
Beautiful lobby and entry way. Very courteous staff.
The room was vey nice with Coffee maker in room safe and smal refridgerator. Very comfy bed and very quiet with the room being nicely appointed as well. A trip to the top of the hotel and the Starlight Room (reservations reccomended) is a nice experience as well. Definitely our go-to Hotel in Union Square area.
The newly decorated lobby but it was insanely cold.
The exterior scaffolding on the front of the building was off-putting. We never saw anyone working on the building.
It’s elegance.
