Everything Nothing
The location was good for walking to the Falls and to town
The gardens are pretty and well maintained.
We have no complaints at all.
Grand old lady with layers of style. Location to the Falls is second to none. Staff are all lovely.
Service is super-friendly but slow.
A Grand Old Dame full of old world charm, what a beautiful hotel, time stands still as you wander through the grounds and buildings. Pool area is calm and relaxing. The food was outstanding and the staff very warm and welcoming!
WiFi was intermittent
You can see the bridge over the river from the terrace. Colonial style luxury walkable to the falls
Tiny gym but this reflects the vintage of the property
Literally everything. The staff, the service, the food, the decor, the view of the falls, the drinks, the room, the concierge who organized taxis and helicopter flips, the swimming pool, the marimba band at dinner time, did I say the food?
This is an elegant colonial-style hotel. Our welcome was warm and welcoming. All members of staff were attentive and very efficient. We were offered a welcome drink while we checked in. The view of the bridge at the falls was superb, and the spray of the Falls, which were in full spate, was fantastic. Our visit to the Falls with our guide was incredible. What an experience. The power of the water, the sound, just standing and watching - nature at its most dramatic, superb!
The main reception rooms are as we expected, and we were glad they had not been modernised; they are part of the history. We enjoyed looking at the paintings and the art gallery, as well as walking the hallways and corridors. The pool was well served with comfortable beds, but a lack of umbrellas meant endlessly moving to have a little shade.
We ate in the Livingstone Room Restaurant, which was perfect, with excellent attentive service, delicious food and a wonderful pianist.
We also ate on the Terrace, which came into its own in the evening, and although the Jungle Restaurant is undergoing refurbishment, lunch in the garden by the pool was perfect.
Our Classic Room had been upgraded, but sadly, I wish it hadn't been. It looked like any modern hotel - it had no character. Two of the window panes were obscure glass for some reason. The bedside lamps on the very small side table were so lightweight that they could be knocked over easily. There was no desk/dressing table/chest of drawers to put anything on - there was room for one. No power point by the full-length mirror for hair drying; the bathroom wasn't big enough for that. A mirror over the fridge cupboard would have helped. The shower room had nowhere to put anything except a tiny table. There were no hooks to hang coats. On leaving, while waiting for our driver, we were shown around more of the hotel, which included another Classic Room in the Stable Block. (I wish we had asked to change rooms when we arrived) This was elegant with a large bathroom including a bath, and a beautiful desk, albeit it was a bit further to walk to the restaurant, terrace and pool, but it was by far a much better room. Please do not modernise this room.
We really enjoyed our stay, thank you for the simply excellent attentive service and delicious food.
Location and design
Small rooms
What an amazing property from design, location, grounds and the amazing team. We were blown away from our visit. We were not planning on retuning to Zimbabwe but now we know we are going to and know exactly where to say.
What a privilege to stay at this hotel. Yes it’s a bit shabby - but that is part of the charm. The staff are exceptional - really great service. Room was comfortable and the hotel is spotlessly clean. What surprised us was the great quality of the food - exceptional food both in the Livingstone and the main restaurant.
Our stay at the Victoria Falls Hotel has easily become one of our most memorable travel experiences—and without a doubt, this is now my favourite hotel.
From the moment we arrived, the level of service was exceptional. Every single member of staff, from the gardeners to the management team, was exemplary. Everyone went above and beyond to make our stay special, and they are genuinely the politest people I have ever encountered.
The hotel itself is stunning. The grounds are immaculate and beautifully maintained, and the property has a wonderful historic charm that adds to the overall experience. We were incredibly fortunate to receive an upgrade, and our room was simply breathtaking, with views over the gorge and Victoria Falls. It truly was a “pinch me” moment.
We dined at the hotel most evenings, alternating between the Stanley Terrace and the Livingstone Restaurant, and both were excellent. The food, atmosphere, and service were consistently outstanding.
We also arranged several activities through the hotel, and everything was seamless and thoroughly enjoyable. It made exploring the area effortless and stress-free.
Honestly, there is nothing I would improve about this hotel. The only disappointment of our entire stay was having to leave. We had such a wonderful time and are already dreaming of returning.
Thank you to the entire team for making our stay so special.
Die Lage und Historie ist super
Es muss sehr viel renoviert werden. Das Frühstück war sehr einfach! Der Preis viel zu hoch für den Standard. Das eine Restaurant war abgerissen und nicht nutzbar.
Ambience, friendly and enthusiastic staff, location
Intrusive noise from overflying helicopters
We stayed 3 nights here in March 2026. We were delighted with the staff friendliness and efficiency, the service, the cleanliness and attention to detail of the accommodation and the professionalism of all involved in our stay - especially Mr Edson who looked after us so well.
