The history, beautiful place
Victorian style
Nothing
Fabulous mix of African history and luxury
Noise in room next door to 147
Simply, the best hotel we have ever stayed.
The room and grounds were delightful and the view from the terrace to the railway bridge and the spray of the Falls was unforgettable. The staff were superb - always present, but never in your face and only too happy to help - formal but with impersonal African hospitality. The history around the hotel was wonderful and so interesting just to wander and look.
Nothing at all!!
The setting is gorgeous and the swimming pool area fabulous .
Close to the town and park entrance
We stayed 3 nights/ 4 days and really enjoyed our time .
Sadly we were not aware until our last day of some of the 5 star amenities the hotel offers such as free drinks in the mini bar / drying of wet clothes / extra water for the room at no charge etc.. but this did not retract from the beautiful time we had
I was incredibly impressed with the experience I had at the Victoria Falls Hotel-- I love historic hotels and have stayed in many in Europe and North America, but this hotel is truly a unique gem-- this hotel runs exceptionally well, and the staff truly took care to extend genuine hospitality to me during my four day stay. The food was terrific- the terrace was an incredible place to enjoy breakfast- as well as lunch and dinner, and the not to be missed afternoon tea. The hotel showcases original vintage travel posters and other artifacts that tell the story of the hotel and the history it is a part of. Truly a beautiful place and the team at the Victoria Falls Hotel are tops! I am so grateful to have had the opportunity to meet them and enjoy the experience the hotel offers. I can't wait to return!
Everything about this hotel is incredible! Absolutely stunning!
Staff were so wonderful, so polite and helpful! Desperate to book another trip back one day!
On the plus side the grounds are beautiful and we saw a number of warthogs join us on the back lawn. The hotel clearly is trying to capture a colonial world now gone. Service was invariably excellent.
However - the hotel now suffers from being directly in the noise corridor of the constant helicopter tours. It’s really unbearable from 7am until 5pm. Plus sad to say the our room suffered from a dinginess - worn carpets and more.
The location is great but don’t walk to the falls unless you want to be accosted by hordes of street vendors. Take a car anywhere.
Our travel agent found this jewel for us and we are so grateful it was a highlight among many while in Africa!
Location and staff attention
Magnificent hotel
Food quality was poor, a bit unexpected from this high level hotel.
Stayed at the Victoria Falls Hotel for 3 nights & what a fantastic experience. The hotel is immaculate with stunning views to the Victoria Falls. Our room was amazing & great food in the restaurants. All staff were very attentive & nothing was too much trouble. We will remember sitting out on terrace for breakfast with views over the gardens to the Victoria Falls for a very long time!!
Great location, rich history, fun experience
One night experience ok. Nothing luxury, mainly pay for the fame of royal history. Not worth the money. Small beds, outdated shower system, meals were mediocre especially the high English tea (avoid).
The absolute best experience > the food the service the hospitality the assistance with booking anything and everything the accommodations it all exceeded expectations. Oh and did I mention the sunrise view *priceless! The history of the hotel is worth knowing and understanding and appreciating the care taken to continue its legacy. But you wanna know the secret of the place….THE PEOPLE 💛 the warmth hospitality smiles laughs and spirit of the team - we already miss them and can’t wait to visit again :) thank you so so much for the best memories!
We called in for afternoon tea to the lovely Victoria Falls Hotel. We knew what we wanted so when we sat down we ordered our afternoon teas. We noticed a lot of people had a glass of bubbly with their afternoon tea. When the waiter arrived with the placemats we asked him about a glass of bubbly and he advised it would be another 12USD each. Another guest having heard our conversation told us they only paid 5USD for bubbly with their afternoon tea. We asked for a menu to check this out and found it was indeed correct. We stopped our waiter as he passed our table (at this point we were still waiting for our afternoon tea to arrive). We asked him if our afternoon tea could include bubbly as per the menu which stated an extra 5USD each and were told as we had not requested this at the time of ordering it would now be an extra 12USD each. I said it would have been helpful when taking the order if he had asked if we wanted our afternoon tea with or without bubbly. We were told the order we made did not include bubbly so we could not now add it on. When he finally brought our afternoon tea I asked if he would query this with the manager as it should be simple to add the drinks to our order. He spoke to the manager who said it was not possible to add the bubbly after the order had been taken by the waiter.
The Victoria Falls Hotel is very nice and very popular but if I had been the manager I would have kept my guests happy by adding the glasses onto the order or voiding the original order and creating another to include the glasses of bubbly. I could understand if we asked after the tea arrived but we asked within a few minutes of ordering. I don't think customer satisfaction can be important to them ..... possibly because they are popular and don't need to go over and above. We had a great six week holiday in Zimbabwe and surrounding countries (would definitely recommend) with some great food and fantastic memories ..... .unfortunately when we talk about our lovely week at Victoria Falls the hotel always gets a mention!
Wide and nutritious breakfast.
The game Drive was not worth it. The guard need to improve
Could only afford lunch at this iconic establishment. Staff very friendly and efficient.
A great deal of history in the corridors and in the Bulawayo Room.
