The view was nice when it wasn’t foggy. Just across the street from the beach and a light and crosswalk right there.
Room size was nice, we had a corner room.
The elevator wasn’t working great, no blankets or bedspread. I was freezing. The pillows were very very flat.
We went down for coffee at 6 and were told there was nothing until 7. It was weird. We just wanted coffee.
We didn't even stay. Checked in down the street. Stunk. Nasty toilet. Pubic hair on the seat. Trash in bathroom. Chair was covered in I don't even know what. We didn't even unpack. Walked in and left
The location was great
The facilities were poorly maintained, the elevator didn’t work, the hot water was tepid at best, and the floors were not clean.
Close to the beach - nothing else good about it.
The management was rude, uninterested in assisting customers, and dishonest.
Many customers came in to complain, and I was only in the lobby for a short time. Management wouldn’t even listen let alone make reparations. An employee reported to the manager that an iron had been thrown out because it was so rusty that it stained the guest’s white dress - the manager instructed the employee to retrieve the iron and put it back!
Plumbing was broken in many rooms
No bed covers at all….. just one sheet.
I like everything.
I didn't like that we had to pay for parking.
What a dump! Not the least bit soundproof. We were waken up several times during tonight by barking dogs… yes they allow dogs in rooms. The morning buffet is a joke . Some very weak coffee and some stale bread. One guest asked the clerk if he would make new coffee, the clerk said no. Dirty parking lot with rat traps everywhere. What a dump!
Nothing
The guy was rude. Charged more at the property. Added extra fees. Room was dirty and outdated. Only 2 towels for 4 people. Asked for 2 more towels and he yelled at my 17 yr old daughter and 16 yr old son. WOULD DEFINITELY NOT RECOMMEND STAYING HERE
Location was great - right on the beach. No complaints there! The breakfast was about what you would expect from a hotel breakfast for a $100-ish room. Staff was friendly, check-in was smooth, and there was plenty of lit parking.
There were no comforters in the room anywhere, only sheets and calling the desk at 10pm did no good and the 'be back in 5' sign was up for a while. Luckily, I had brought our own blankets. Also - the sheets on one of the beds had hair on them that was not mine upon arrival indicating that it had not been washed. There is a $100 deposit for debit card that is not advertised, but that is pretty standard for beach rooms. It's also now been 5 days and still have not released my $100 deposit. It's right between two restaurants and a residential street though so there is a fair bit of noise.
I was dissapointed the bathroom had mold around the tub, the walls had water leaks and stained .
the attendant was not not receptive
Location
They charge for parking when we were staying there. No blankets. The towels has a weird smell
We booked a king room and we told that there were no king rooms at this hotel and that if we wanted we would have needed to book their suite, even though we booked and paid for a king room. The front desk could have cared less and was very standoff-ish. We have never felt the need to review a hotel but be warned, if you like to be treated like a person and not the gum to be scrapped off their shoe and tossed in the garbage, then do not stay here! Worst customer service ever. (We have travelled the entire world and this place was the worst anywhere we have ever been)!
This hotel is worst experience ever I cancel the transaction ,theyvdid not accepted so I decide to used when I went there at 4.00 the front door was closed wich bring bad knock door for 45 minutes out, no one there, then some one comes in other car she knock the door to but a guy open so I enter this guy was RUD UNPROFESIONAL DESRESPECTFULL , when I ask for my reservation he said , you are not sistem just please call Booking,he said booking dont respond, so je tell me go out to call he take me out from hotel, I call booking they answer me and tell me youre reservation is there. I enter to hotel with speaker phone he tell this man with very bad Atittude he refuses talk to him, he tell me no reservation and throw me out Again they took my money Booking tell me So I call and attorney to preceding with a law sue to the WINGATE HOTEL GALVESTON BOOKING CANCEL MY RESERVATION BUT I STILL GOING TO DEPARGMENT CONSUMIDOR TO OPEN A DISPUTE DONT RECOMEND, THIS DIRTY UGGLY PERMESSES, NO PROFESIONAL AT ALL
Everything Desrespect, poor Public relations this young guy were calling to the manager and talk in his language infront me Rud careless of professionalism yo attend front desk
Location from cruise terminal. Mark at the counter tried his best and was helpful printing our luggage tags.
It was a MOTEL. And although the room had been recently remodeled, the rest of the hotel was not. Breakfast was horrible. And I’m not picky. Your choice of fruit loops, toast or make yourself waffles with no butter available and syrup kept running out because so many people were choosing to eat that only choice!
Ohhh and our beds did not have comforter or blankets. On a day it was freezing in Galveston!! And the worst pillows I have ever slept on. And I’m 63 years old!!
The staff was friendly. The location was convenient.
I probably had 12 emails and texts from them. That is excessive and I didn't feel free to block or ignore them because I did need the reservation.
The property seemed run down in general. The paint, cleanliness and amenities were shabby. There were no cups or blankets in the room, the breakfast bar was skimpy. In general, it just seemed like economy was the main priority in running this place.
Good location.
It is very misrepresented by their photos on this platform. We went to the front desk to request extra pillows and we were told to come back in half an hour. Not even a “we will get them for you”. Their hospitality skills were lacking.
There was a leak under the sink so every time we opened the water we had to ensure we didn’t step on water.
The place was very old and lots of areas damaged and stained. Shaved hair bits in the side of the bathtub. Chlorine stains on the walls that made it look like a murder had happened there. Raggedy and bad.
This looked like a $50/night hotel.
Horrible experience. Had a group (6 rooms). My personal room had peeling paint/water damage possibly on the ceiling otherwise it was ok. However, 2 in our group had be moved to different rooms because of uncleanliness (stained sheets) and not stocked with linens and amenities as well as bed bugs. Another one in our group had a broken bed and was not relocated. Staff wouldn't "disturb" the manager when asked to speak to the manager. We have photo documentation that can include metadata/time/date stamp. We've filed a complaint with the county health department as well as Wyndham corporate. I personally watched multiple people not associated with our group complain about their rooms to the staff as well.
Love the location. The beach is across the street. Restaurants are walking distance as well.
They charge $15 for parking in a hotel you just rented a room with. The photos on booking.com are very misleading. Walls in the rooms have been patched up. Paint is peeling from the ceiling.
