The location and the grounds of the hotel.
- Flooded everywhere nothing done to mitigate the flood and no compensation or explanation.
- the Wilding Restaurant on the hotel was closed while we were there leaving only the Old swan pub.
-Breakfast was appalling complete waste of money. Can’t believe I paid for bed & breakfast to only be given the option of a measly croissant or cereal and had to pay to upgrade for a full English anyway.
-The WiFi being broken also a joke. No WiFi or signal in the rooms but the WiFi works perfectly fine in the reception conveniently.
- The bathroom was stuffy and smelt awful from the shower the door had to be closed at all times from the smell in the shower.
- The rooms were not cleaned to standard nor the bathrooms.
Overall I think it wasn’t worth the money at all I was extremely disappointed as this was for a birthday to celebrate.
Nothing - it was a shambles
Approach road and car park flooded
Lighting in front and around the buildings were not working due to water ingestion
Unable to see signs to correct car park
Booking did not specify in which building to report to reception so had to walk across darkened area between buildings - nearly fell over on a muddy verge
Finally got to correct reception but couldn't bring car close to building to park because of flooding
Got to room and key would not open door
Receptionist managed to open door but the door got jammed on the carpet
Beautiful location
Not enough staff. The place was cold. The food was cold and took a long tinder to arrive. No WiFi due technical difficulties
The coffee machine was a great welcome. It was quiet and the setting was gorgeous even if flooded due to the bad weather.
No 3G or 4g reception and no WiFi unless at the reception or bar area
Room far too hot, and not refreshed during our stay.
Spa pool out of service and couldn't actually have a meal at the restaurant, only at the pub opposite.
Very nice and peaceful lovely food in the pub and all staff very nice and helpful
No wifi working in the rooms or anywhere apart from pub or reception. Tv in room had no signal all weekend
we were disappointed with the accommodation as there was a flood and when getting out the car there was toilet waste (paper and excrement ) bubbling out of the drains. it smelt awful and we had to walk through it. where we were understanding that there was a flood i would of thought the car park would of been closed off and we could park at the old mill. there was no apology given. we had to ask to have our rooms next to each other as one room was allocated at the old mill and the other was across the road in the Ministry. the location however was perfect and easy to find. the rooms needed a good clean and there were lights not working and the nets were falling off the windows and smelt muggy.
as above
Bed was compfy
This hotel is not a luxury spa hotel. Check trip advisor reviews .
£25 per person to use the sauna / steam
Room and a tiny pool!!
£25 to take our tiny little dog!
£22 for a quite frankly average fish n chips and restaurant and cocktail bars are both very cold in temp and atmos.
Was a nice property, Nice and helpful staff, Nice pub across the road . Room was amazing with an amazing bathroom and bed.
Sometimes it’s just the little things that make it special, like there was no internet available when it was advertised, room service is advertised but isn’t a service the hotel offers? The parking was flooded, the restaurant is only open 2 nights a week? Theirs a decent pub across the road with amazing dinner, however breakfast was offered as free but then they charge an extra £10 for a cooked breakfast otherwise your on cereal and juice?
Beautiful location.
No WiFi in the room and limited WiFi everywhere else. Room was dated, and thought it was expensive for what you got. We would have used the spa but having to pay for a treatment which started at £100 to access the pool was ridiculous.
This was a Second visit not as good as the first.
Tried to over charge us, breakfast was included on the booking then they added breakfast to the bill trying to claim an extra £30 each room. towels had stains on them and the room was cold and damp feeling. Disappointed as last time was lovely.
Quiet and pretty location
Staff were great and helpful
Breakfast was great
Lack of wifi is an issue but nice to ditch the phone.
The spa is a bit of a miss sell as you have to pay £100+ on a treatment so you can use the pool and i got a message the week before our stay stating this, which is too late to change. Not entirely clear on booking. Was disappointing as it was a reason we chose the property.
Room was okay but could do with better cleaning as the last users felt happy enough to ear wax on head board. Some of the surfaces were dusty.
Location
Not the best stay over we’ve ever had, we arrived just after midday on a Sunday to be told our room wouldn’t be ready till after 3, they have over 50 rooms and the hotel was empty, nor could we get a coffee as everything was closed, we booked a bed & breakfast rate but cooked breakfast is an extra. there was no WiFi unless you went to the spa. The bathroom had a bad smell of drains so that door had to be kept shut. If I had been given a pound for every time a staff member said “we’re so sorry’ I’d have had a free stay. Lovely grounds but the hotel is overdue a make over.
No soap even though we kept asking for it, toilet brush was broken and unusable, wasn’t replaced even though we kept asking for it to be. No batteries in the remote so had to wait for staff to find more. No wifi available in any of the rooms. It is made out to be a luxury spa and hotel but I found it pretty disappointing. No room service available either.
