Lovely location , good staff
All the staff were friendly and welcoming. The spa treatment was well worth the money. Lovely relaxing feel. The rooms were clean and comfortable. The surroundings were beautiful. Food at the old swan was really good.
Very old property in tranquil setting.
Staircase difficult. Breakfast was expensive but good.
Location
First room No: 132 had black mould within the net curtains.
The second room No: 210 was a better room BUT the cleaning staff the following morning only made our bed badly and failed to clean cups and bathroom toilet. Failed to replenish sugar tea bags and milk.
Food was good until the last breakfast because my wife’s bacon was so over cooked it was like rock and inedible.
Location was excellent
Noisy people next door, definitely smelt like drugs were being taken. The scurting boards paint work was coming away. Dust behind draws. Phone line was not working to ring the front desk. I had to use my own phone and still was waiting up to 10 minutes for someone to answer.
The location is absolutely stunning,.
It is a large complex in beautiful grounds.
However, customer services and communication need a serious overhaul, we feel.
You can choose to eat in the adjoining pub or in the hotel. WE didn't actually see anyone eating in the restaurant. We weren't told that the pub would be closed for a private function on our 2nd night. This went on to breakfast the next morning, so that was served in the hotel. My husband was offered 2 mini packs of cereal as no muesli was available! The toast just piled in a heap on the plate! At the cost of £9.
The spa pool is beautiful but you have to have a treatment at an extortionate price to use it. When we challenged this I was told we could use the pool for a swim at the cost of £25. We did not take up this offer.
Our friends bathroom had a terrible smell like blocked drains
We felt the hotel is overpriced for what you actually get for your money
For the room to be how it was it was not worth the money, the breakfast isn’t Even proper breakfast only croissants and yogurt. Dinner menu very limited. Place was abit rundown.
RIP off to be honest.
The staff were lovely, very friendly and the fact that it was dog friendly and they provided a bowl and dog bed(although too small for our pup who is medium sized) was a really nice touch. The location was also amazing, this could be used more to advertise the accommodation, it’s in a stunning setting and only 9 minutes away from The Farmers Dog (Jeremy Clarksons pub).
The accommodation does need some TLC and the room we had clearly hadn’t been cleaned thoroughly, when we arrived I found a used, balled up sock on the floor by the door that opened up to the outside. This I have put between the adjoining doors, as didn’t want our dog dining it. The paint was scratched and peeling in the room and floor of the conservatory. This room with the glass conservatory could be spectacular, but as it is right now it just felt unloved.
Location
Couldn’t find our room not very obvious
Beautiful countryside
It wasn’t what I was expecting in terms of cleaning
Beautiful building and grounds, the accomodation is really fab. The village is gorgeous and the pub next door is cosy. We paid for the spa facilities and it was lovely with sauna, steam, pool and a small outdoor area.
Our room had a fire pit which was lovely.Great shower products, and well equipt room.
Already planning our return trip.
Our friends had the standard room and the basic room is very very small.
The food in the pub was very bad, not in keeping with the hotel at all. Had lunch and breakfast and both were undercooked
Nice setting, quite and comfortable.
