The location of the property was very good, the pub next door was very nice. The staff were very accommodating and always happy to help.
The room we were in was always too hot because the hot water pipes are under the floor and the bed & pillows weren’t too comfortable either.
Very cosy cottage - great for a family trip away to relax
No cooking facilities available - needs to be clearer when booking
Price was competitive.
Location was convenient
Booked through Booking.com and paid for "a good breakfast" at time of booking. On arrival at the accommodation I was advised that this was a continental breakfast and I then had to pay a supplement for a standard cooked breakfast.
Room was very small
Food was poor and expensive
The staff, the view and dinner
I thought the spare was poor and definitely not worth £25. The jacuzzi didn't work. The loungers uncomfortable. It would of been nice if there was coff/tea facilities
The location was great. Easily accessible and plenty of parking.
Checked in and was sent over to the Old Swan. Room not well signposted and when I asked the staff I was asked “isn’t it obvious.”
Room was filthy. Mould on the bathroom ceiling - cobwebs everywhere - and poking out from under the bed was £1 coin and a very old large chocolate button.
Nice place, interesting location
No access to pool or spa before 10 AM . Many people like to undertake exercise before breakfast. Also ridiculous to pay £25 to use pool
The location was ideal. The trip was for my wife's 40th birthday and the hotel was ideal. The room was beautifully located and a good size. We were fortunate enough to get a riverside room with garden access which was lovely. the spa was ok along with the pool and other offerings
The wifi was shocking. Whilst I am not advocating full 5g coverage, and I am not looking at downloading endless movies a decent connection would have be ideal.
The breakfast was a complete joke. I ordered the full English with coffee which I was charged over £20 for. I got 1 sausage, 1 bacon, 1 half of tomato. 1 mushroom, 1/2 of slice of black pudding, 1 tiny hash brown, a small ramakin of beans, brown toast and all served luke warm. This is what I got for £20+ all served by a very unwelcoming waitress that offered not a single smile, who became argumentative when she brought the wrong coffee. You offer 5 star but deliver disa star. I fully appreciate all this nouvelle cuisine is all the rage, and people say less is more. Utter trash. When I order a Full English and I am charged over £20 with a coffee for god sake give the customer what he wants. Not some dish that would please an 8 year old.
Perfect. Room was gorgeous and extremely clean. Staff were lovely. We had a lovely outdoor log burner and gorgeous view of the river. About a 10 min walk from the minster ruins which was definitely worth going to see. Stunning little village and extremely close to clarksons farm and pub which was the reason for the stay but we will definitely come back just for the hotel and area absolutely stunning. Not far from the costwold wildlife park as well which was such a great day activity.
Nothing much. The river was overflowing and car park was flooded. Not the pleasant experience we had hoped for. No chance of getting into the spa.
We arrived for an overnight stay at the old Swan and Minster Mill, I was not aware that they were two separate hotels. We paid £255 for a superior room to include breakfast and had an additional charge of £75 for the dogs. We were placed into room 212 in the Swan. The room was not dog friendly as there was carpet down and the rear was not secured as you shared it with the neighbouring room. The room had no WiFi and was tiny. After speaking with reception, we were moved to room 147 at the hilltop. This was a much better room, but a long walk with all our things and the dogs. There were no teabags in the room and there was no hand soap.
Beautiful room and surroundings. Staff were very friendly and helpful.
Our room was not what we paid for, and was told it’s a equivalent. Which it wasn’t. The bathroom had a strong smell of sewage which when we complained they said it was because of the river, and wouldn’t do anything about that. The pool was fully booked, which was never explained when we booked that it needed to be rebooked. They wouldn’t move us rooms, so we asked for a refund and left. There was several other couples at reception complaining about similar things.
Pictures on booking.com are nothing like the rooms
Beautiful setting, friendly and accommodating staff
Unfortunately the grounds were flooded when we stayed but did not spoil the stay at all just unable to roam the full grounds
Stunning location and hotel. Quaint and cozy. Like something out of a movie set. Attention to detail in the rooms from the shampoos to the tea coffees were superb
Stuff for a little bit rude, need to smile more
