La Valencia is a top favorite hotel of mine and this trip did not disappoint. I was in town for business and stayed through the weekend to enjoy La Jolla. While a boutique hotel, it was accommodating for business meetings and also had the amenities to relax over the weekend. Jessica was fantastic at the front desk and worked with my multiple requests and date changes. The valet staff, especially Nick, was professional and he remembered my name after the first introduction. Mike at the pool had the perfect balance of letting me enjoy my quiet time, yet also being attentive to my food/drink orders. La Valencia is a fantastic destination whether for work or pleasure. I will definitely be back!
The Entire Staff at this Hotel is so efficient, friendly, and hospitable--from the Valet to the Restaurant and Lobby bar area to the Front Desk. Gorgeous setting, Hotel, and just the best.
Michael Mele was the most amazing, outstanding professional, and courteous server that we have had in a very, very long time. He went above and beyond. Service was stellar. He gets a 10! We were here for a family dinner for our son’s 17th birthday.

Beautiful, historic property by the sea
We arrived at the hotel and they had upgraded us to a Suite. We had a view of the ocean. It was spectacular. The living room was spacious with comfy chairs and a sofa and a big screen tv. There was a fridge and of course, coffee and tea and water.
The Bathroom had a sink and mirrors as you entered, and a toilet. The shower was enormous, and the bathtub deep and perfect fun for two.
The bedroom was large, with a closet in the hallway, and a very large screen TV.
Very comfortable. Of course, the cozy hotel bathrobes were supplied.
When we got back that night, there was a bottle of champagne with a sweet card wishing us a happy anniversary.
The swimming pool was large and very warm. The gym had the needed elliptical and treadmill, and Peloton.
Everywhere is lovely and clean.
Everyone was very helpful if we had any questions. The staff seem happy at their jobs. I like to see that.
Each morning, the outdoor furniture was carefully put out and arranged perfectly for the guests.
We were so centrally located that we walked to the ocean and along the Cove daily. We loved learning and seeing the seals, sea lions, pelicans, and cormorants.
We hope to return. It is a great place to stay. I highly recommend it.
This is the premier hotel in La Jolla, without exception. The location alone would be the justification for choosing it. Imagine a full service, luxury hotel with old world charm in the heart of the "downtown" of the village, but also virtually on the ocean, built on the bluff. Every room type imaginable. We stayed in a "villa," presumably named because it was in one of several smaller buIldings with fireplaces and beside both the pool and the ocean.
There were several restaurants and the connected Whaling Bar, which was a very popular destination for La Jolla residents and gusts alike. But the most memorable aspect of our stay was the staff. Everyone, and I mean everyone, was professional, courteous, sincere, and always with a smile, Just exceptional.
We attended a wedding here. The wedding was held in the balcony and it offered an amazing scenic view of La Jolla Cove. The ballroom was beautiful and the food was great. The staff was very nice and attentive. The valet parking is convenient and reasonably priced. Kudos to the front desk clerk who found some shipping tape so I can fix my shoes.
I attended the Holiday Tea on 12/19 and it was one of the best teas I have attended!
Ashley and Aaron waited on my Mother in Law and myself. They were fantastic!
I have a nut allergy and had mentioned it when I made the reservation a couple months ago, I was so surprised when they brought out a special plate for me with all the pastries that were totally nut free and safe for me to eat! It made the tea so much less stressful and such a nice touch!
We plan to return to the Spring tea!
The only “issue” was that we enjoyed the table and good so much that we sipped our tea too slow and it ended up cold after 1.5 hours since there was not anything to keep it warm.
Had drinks and service by Michael - everything was delicious and Michael was an incredible server! Very personable and helpful, thanks so much! Kept our drinks full and energy high :)
Best hotel in La Jolla. We are hotel snobs with high expectations and we LOVED it. The rooms are immaculate, staff friendly, and service exceptional. It is in a perfect location close to all the shops/restaurants and extremely dog friendly with a park right behind the hotel. The whaling bar and hotel restaurants are also great. Excellent cocktails and food. They even have a dog menu and gave our dog treats. We will definitely be back.
We had the most wonderful experience celebrating my husband’s milestone birthday at La Valencia hotel. The ballroom with ocean views was gorgeous, the food was exceptional and the service was great. Bobby Fader, Director of catering, did an amazing job organizing our party.
I would highly recommend having any event at La Valencia hotel.
I stopped by for a glass of wine and an appetizer and what a great surprize. The view, service and atmosphere exceeded expectations. I had a perfect glass of chilled Chardonnay while overlooking the ocean plus a Shrimp cocktail. Aaron was the server and he could not have made my day better other than bringing my wife, who I spent 56 years with, back to life. This was one of our favorite spots to enjoy the view, excellent service and kindness. Ask for Aaron and your day will be better.
This was my first visit to La Valencia Hotel in LaJolla, California. Parking was a breeze with valet parking right in front. The valet was already at my car door before I even turned my car off. Upon entering the lobby, I was greeted by three separate staff members/front desk personnel. I met a friend for lunch at the hotel and we ate in the La Sala's Ocean View Terrace; Amazing views, the pomegranate salmon salad was excellent and the pricing was very reasonable for a luxury hotel practically right on the beach. Since it was my first time there, I asked for and was treated to a tour of the hotel by the head of the engineering department. The hotel is really a work of art. The hotel sits very close to the water, pretty much every area had ocean views and the grounds are immaculately kept; likewise for the hotel. All staff that I met were professional, friendly and helpful. This will be one of my regular spots from now on.
