Stayed here for 3 nights for a conference. It is a very classic looking room with super high ceilings, wall to wall wallpaper, chandeliers, wood molding and balconies overlooking the activity below. The shower water pressure was outrageously strong it was amazing. The hotel itself has kept its old school New Orleans charm, but also modernized its conference spaces where needed.
Only drawbacks are the noise and air con as the guest rooms windows are very old and drafty, I had the heat set to 73 but it never got above 66-67 during a cold snap. Likely not an issue the rest of the year when it's typically humid, but the noise from outside even with windows and curtains closed could keep me up all night. It is New Orleans which is a party town so it comes with territory I suppose.
This is a great hotel. Newly renovated and perfect location in the French Quarter. Walking distance to everything. Staff is great and car park is convenient.
Perfect location and beautiful hotel with large, comfortable rooms and exceptionally kind and helpful staff. My family of four stayed in the Iberville Tower 2 bedroom suite with a sofa bed, and it was just right. Two room separated with a partial wall provided space and privacy, and having two bathrooms was wonderful. The location is on Royal one block off Canal, and this makes both for exceptional walking to shopping and restaurants and art galleries and super convenient to watch the parades during the Mardi Gras season with the ability to pop back and forth to the hotel room easily. Royal Street is just gorgeous and fun, and having the hotel right there is just great. It's also just a few blocks to the start of the St. Charles streetcar line which will take you all the way uptown.
Hotel Monteleone stands out for its literary history and classic southern elegance, and sitting at the rotating Carousel Bar inside the hotel added a unique and memorable touch to the stay.
We attended a conference from Wednesday thru Friday, the week prior to Fat Tuesday, which you can imagine is crazy. The ability of the staff from the garage to the front counter to the room attendants was amazing. Would high recommend to anyone visiting New Orleans.
This hotel is in the best location in all of New Orleans. Walkable to absolutely everything! Rooms were fine but a little outdated. Carousel Bar inside the hotel is not worth the hype (or the wait).
Great location. Comfortable rooms with great pillows. Concierge Anita could t have been more helpful. Anita was awesome and her restaurant and places to hear jazz recommendations were spot on. Anita helped make our trip a success!
I’ve stayed at this hotel many times and each time surpasses the last!! This trip was made extra special by Khiya!! My friend flagged her down to take a picture of us by the pool, and she proceeded to take me on a little ‘photo shoot tour’ of the upstairs area. She posed me in front of the most amazing views and made this tipsy middle aged lady look like a supermodel!! I swear, if I ever make it super wealthy I’m just going to get a room at Hotel Monteleone and just stay there forever!! 10/10 Every!! Single!! Time!! Thank you, Khiya for making this most recent visit so extra super super special!!
We throughly enjoyed our stay in one of the Hotel Suites.
The Monteleone is first class in every aspect. Have stayed here many times through the years.
I only stayed one night, so everything was great! My room was ready early, so I was able to check in and get settled. Blue at the front was so helpful and sweet as well. I would definitely recommend. Plus, the hotel is in the French Quarter, so it was near everything.
MICHELLE M in housekeeping was excellent--kind and responsive. The hotel staff was all attentive and efficient. Great location. Central, but quiet. Breakfasts --for our Road Scholar group were outstaning--every single dayi!!
Splurged on an upgraded room with a jacuzzi tub. Well it didn’t work and we were only staying two nights. Tub night was planned on night one, concert the next. Needless to say tub night didn’t go as planned.
The tv is from the past. You can’t connect a firestick to it like you can at other hotels. You’re stuck scrolling the guide channel to find something to watch from the 50ish basic cable channels provided.
The carpet stains in the room were next level. They spanned the colors of the rainbow and even had some hard, crusty edges to them. It was interesting. They did provide slippers to wear in the room. This must be why.
We had an amazing experience with a couples massage. The 90 minutes flew by and we felt brand new once when they finished.
If you want to stay in a classic, New Orleans hotel then this is it. The hotel is beautiful. The location couldn’t be better. The staff were so friendly. However, when you’re traveling somewhere new, the room where you rest your head after a busy day is the most important part. And the guest room we were given wasn’t worth the $500 a night we paid.
We truly enjoyed our stay at Hotel Monteleone
, it was an amazing experience beyond our expectations, especially for our first time in New Orleans.
The overall atmosphere was wonderful, and the staff made a real difference. The door staff were always positive, friendly, and welcoming, and the front office team was consistently helpful and professional.
The rooms and housekeeping team truly deserve recognition, especially for the turndown service and the attention to detail when tidying up the bathroom it’s the small touches that really make the difference.
Special thanks to Emirhan Yılmaz and his team for their outstanding hospitality and support throughout our stay.
We had a fantastic stay and would absolutely recommend Hotel Monteleone to anyone visiting New Orleans. We would love to return
My daughter chose Hotel Monteleone for her wedding guests and reserved a block of approximately 25 rooms, drawn by the hotel’s history, elegance, and reputation. Unfortunately, the experience was problematic from the moment we arrived and caused significant stress during what should have been a joyful weekend.
As we pulled up to the hotel with our truck and trailer, a bellman yelled at us in the crowded street while we were trying to inquire where we could unload our wedding luggage and attire. The confrontation was unnecessary and embarrassing, especially since we were not parking there. He eventually provided unloading instructions calmly—something that could have been done from the start.
We also experienced poor handling of a flower delivery, which had been coordinated with one of their managers via email Instead of our fresh flowers, staff initially delivered wilted poinsettias left over from the holidays. It took nearly three hours and multiple inquiries before our clearly labeled flower boxes were finally located in the coolers, exactly where we had said they would be.
Bar service was another disappointment. Our waitress was rude, would not accommodate multiple payments, and showed no interest in being helpful. A mandatory 20% gratuity was included despite the poor service.
The most serious issue was the lack of water on both Saturday and Sunday of the wedding weekend. This was a major problem for the bride and guests. Some were forced to change rooms, others took cold showers. The hotel did not proactively assist guests or offer compensation—each person had to complain individually. Refunds were inconsistent, did not match what was promised, and took weeks of follow-up. Given the number of rooms booked, the bride should have been fully compensated.
While the managers we worked with prior to arrival were generally professional—and we had positive interactions with the bar and conference managers—the on-site staff was largely rude, inattentive, and unwilling to help.
For an expensive, supposedly luxury hotel, this level of service is unacceptable. Do not waste your money here. There are many better hotels in New Orleans that treat their guests with respect and genuine hospitality.
Stayed here multiple times and never disappointed. Location is ideal. Rooms are good size and well decorated. Staff is friendly and helpful. This is my first choice when visiting NOLA.
A true gem in the heart of the French Quarter. Historic, beautiful, and refined. Everything about our stay was wonderful.
Staff take pride in doing a great job. Location is perfect for enjoying the city. The Carousel Bar is a one of a kind experience.
The hotel is absolutely beautiful! The staff in every area is polite, kind and very efficient. The Carousel Bar & Lounge is amazing and really a one of a kind addition to this amazing hotel.
Great experience! All staff super helpful and friendly! Room was beautiful! Hotel in the heart of the French Quarter. Convenient to all we wanted to do!
First time to stay in this iconic hotel. Perfectly situated in the French Quarter; only short walks to most of the tourist sites. We were in the Iberville Tower with spacious rooms that were meticulously maintained. Spacious bathroom with large, walk-in shower, awesome water pressure and wide sink and counter space. Our sitting room had an additional 1/2 bath. Sitting room also had a big screen TV, but unfortunately, we were unable to hook up our streaming services. The restaurant Criollas had delicious food, and attentive service . The iconic Carousel Bar is fun, lively and filled with interesting people and bands! We loved our stay and will be back.
Hotel Monteleone was the best ! extremely friendly staff. Made our 31st wedding anniversary so enjoyable. Michael and Cedric were exceptional.
Clean rooms, great location, friendly staff.
