No pets allowed (yay!) but kind of run down
Pros:

I booked this property because it was pet free and someone in our traveling party has very intense allergies to pets. We were grateful there were no allergic reactions while on the trip. Breakfast was fine, adequate.

Cons:

This property was a lot more run down that I had thought. The mattresses were saggy in the middle and felt more like a hammock. There were bloody boogers wiped on the wall by the bed. There were random stray hairs all over the bathroom floor upon check in. In fact- I felt like the floor was so dirty, I mopped with a hand towel and water before we went to bed the first night. The towel (after mopping f the floor) was brown and full of hairs. I’ll probably search elsewhere next time we are in San Fran.

Hôtel magnifique!!! Une pause dans le temps.
Pros:

Personnel très aimable, accueillant, souriant, serviable.
Décoration style époque victorienne, magnifique. Petits salons accès libre en bas de l'hôtel avec cheminées, piano, très cosy.
Eau citronnée, thé et café à disposition toute la journée.
Cookies et digestif proposés en fin d'après-midi.
Accueil présent 24h/24h.
Petit déjeuner varié, grande salle de petit déjeuner.
Quand on passe les portes de cet hôtel, le temps s'arrête et on change d'époque.

Cons:

Le ménage était insuffisant dans les tiroirs (poussière+++) et dans les armoires (installation nécessaire des affaires pour 4 personnes pour 10 jours), la tapisserie dans le fond du tiroir le l'armoire était complètement décollé, la literie trop souple à mon goût. Nous avons eu un petit problème de robinetterie au niveau du lavabo de la salle de bain mais lavabo fonctionnel et il manquait les oeufs brouillés et le bacon au petit déjeuner, dommage.

Clean rooms, nice breakfast, friendly staff, great lobby with free coffee/tea.
Pros:

The hotel had a beautiful lobby with warm decor. Hotel guests sat by the fire and drank tea/coffee and played games. Everyone was friendly. The rooms were clean. Breakfast was lovely. The hotel employees were helpful and responsive. Loved being close to Japantown, where there's good food, shopping, and massage (highly recommend Jan Massage in basement on Post Street) and the Fillmore district.

Cons:

One night I got back late and had to ring the buzzer several times before I was let in. I'm glad the hotel door is always locked, but I thought I would not be able to get in!

Great centrally located hotel, been there many times.
Pros:

Beautiful historic hotel with grand staircases and winding hallways. Elagant lobby serving Cookies and Sherry in the afternoon. Is there a ghost? I think I'll need to visit again to find out more.

Cons:

Breakfast is adequate yet nothing special.

Great location and budget-friendly option for sightseeing in San Francisco.
Pros:

Excellent location with access to bus system and fantastic restaurant options within walking distance. It was easy to walk to many sights. The cookies left out in the late afternoon were delicious.

Cons:

The bed was very uncomfortable with a mattress so soft and worn I was unable to get a good night of sleep. The room’s two chairs felt like sitting directly on the springs, making it uncomfortable to work. There was also a distinct and unpleasant odor in the room.

Not a great first impression was made when front desk lady came across as condescending when I asked about parking and she said ‘it’s right there-across the street’ like I had been there before.

Super beautiful old building with lots of attention to detail! The beds were cozy and the free breakfast and afternoon tea/cookies was such a lovely bonus!
