Taj Campton Place

hotel was centrally located and well kept and room was spacious. however, i won't stay here again because, despite having a Do Not Disturb sign on my door and notwithstanding my repeated instructions not to enter my room, hotel staff entered my room for "wellness checks"

We stayed here earlier this month (Jan 2 to Jan 4) and ran into a safety issue that almost ruined our vacation, that I want other travelers to be aware and careful of. The headboard of the bed is inexplicably designed with an extremely sharp and hard corner right above the pillows. See picture. My 15-year old flopped down on her pillow, misjudged it by an inch, and almost cracked her head open. She ended up sleeping in most of the next day, so she probably suffered a minor concussion.
We were staying in a Campton 1 Bedroom Suite. Our friends were in a regular room and they said their bed did not have this flaw.
I spoke with the manager the next morning (an Indian gentleman who's name I forget) and he said he will look into covering the corners with a rubber corner guard or some other solution. If they post a picture of the solution this weekend in response to this review, I will bump up my review to 5 stars, because it means they followed through, and also because other than this critical issue, we were happy with our stay.

This is a lovely, well done hotel conveniently located right at Union Square. The rooms are comfortable, large and well appointed. The bar and bartenders were fabulous. One star less relates to the restaurant and our morning breakfast. The staff was disorganized. The food tasty but quite expensive for the offerings.

At the first sign of the sink erupting I called the desk and was assured of an immediate response. About 1 hour later a fellow showed up and worked on it for almost two hours. He was unsuccessful.

The sink kept erupting and overflowed in the morning, I called the desk again. I was delayed when another team finally resolved this issue. An experience far from what I was hoping for at a '5 star' hotel

We loved our stay at Taj Campton last week. Both of us being senior citizens, staff went above and beyond to make us feel comfortable at the property. We had a tour scheduled at 6 AM and Taj team ensured packed breakfast and juices for us. Overall loved it

Had a great stay at the Taj Campton Place. Read online that the hotel is old and run down, but I thought it was charming and had a certain old school charm.

I was in town to see my friends' bands and helped them all book rooms here with the FHC, so we kind of took over the hotel. The staff was super nice in helping us all out with our gear, many hotel bills, and all the credits everyone got. I got texts from many band members thanking me for helping them book this.

Food in the restaurant was good and I got them to deliver breakfast room service on the last day and enjoyed the late checkout.

Would definitely stay here again for the price we paid!

Location was exactly right for Union Square, shopping, China Town & the cable cars. Restaurant was wonderful, authentic cuisine. Luxurious, quite rooms. The whole staff went above & beyond.

Beautiful location cannot beat that. We were hoping for warm service at meal times
Rooms are decent. Amenities present at good for your stay. Parking plan ahead or use their valet service either works.

The Taj Campton is located in the heart of Union Square, with shopping and restaurants all around. Easy walk from BART, and many other areas of S.F. We stayed in a standard king room and appreciated the soft bedding, and tub with separate shower. Slippers and robes were a welcome touch, as was the in-room and also in-lobby coffee. We enjoyed a tasty breakfast each day. The staff were very welcoming, including Suzette, Sierra, John, as well as our bar server and breakfast servers - very friendly service overall by every member of the staff. We enjoyed the 7th floor gym, it was spacious, light and airy, just the right temperature. We would stay again.
