Intimate, quiet, easy to navigate, delicious restaurant and bar
No notes!
Very nice, private location. Pretty, well-maintained grounds. Very friendly and helpful staff. Nice pool area. Casitas are spacious, but a bit bland with plus-size "southwestern" furniture. Beds/bedding comfortable. Bathroom good; nice hot shower, but a bit more water pressure would be nice. Coffee pods for Keurig tasting stale; at this price range premium coffee should be offered. In-room breakfast portion size is (too) large; huge food waste. Taste is so-so. Service speed very good. Problems with clearing dishes (sat on porch for a full day); call-button may not have worked. Hotel restaurant LON has a very nice setting (especially outdoors). Service courteous. Food quality mediocre at best; fish entrees came out lukewarm. Taste not exceptional. Excessive portion size. Vastly overpriced (almost 500$ for dinner of two entrees, one side, one dessert and a mid-range bottle of wine). Restaurant rating alone would be "average" 3-star. Overall rating 4-star "good" because of the nice grounds and friendly staff.
I loved the grounds - the gardens, fountains, and fire pits were lovely! Nice touches of cookies in the afternoon and muffins in the morning. The pool was calm and never crowded. The deluxe casita had a lovely bathtub and fireplace. The owner introduced himself to us and that was very cool!
The bed was very firm. I requested a mattress topper but was told the only 2 they had were both in use. They should invest in better beds or more toppers as well as king sized pillows and pillow options. Keurigs should be replaced with nespresso for a more upscale feel. The shower at the pool area needs fixing. The shower in our room (108) didn’t get hot - I think the fixtures need to be replaced so it corresponds with the water temp. The food and service at the restaurant was just ok. Overall, this was a good property but there’s SO much potential for it to be great with a few changes.
If you're looking for a PERFECT resort experience, this is the place. Rated by Conde Nast Traveler as one of the Top 5 Resorts in North America, the service level here is incredible. Beautiful, historic grounds, quaint comfortable casitas, and a 5-Star restaurant/bar. Excellent wine cellar, 2 Sommeliers and a Bar Staff of talented Mixologists.
good variety and lots of fruit
The dining room wasn't clean
We have been venturing to phoenix 1-2 times in Jan/Feb for the past dozen or more years and have tended to sample all sorts of luxury properties. For this years long weekend we opted to return to this beautiful boutique property after a 4-year hiatus.
After revisiting (and being blessed with mild 75 and sunny weather this year), my nomadic ways may be at an end. Our 3/ night stay in room 150 was superb. We continue to love the spacious room, huge shower, gas fireplace and large comfortable leather easy chairs. I’m please to report there is ample bedside power (my note from the previous review) but sadly still the same crummy shower head.
This place is an oasis of tranquility with lush colorful grounds, and a fantastic on site restaurant that attracts a big crowd most every night.
For our most recent visit I called to let them know my wife would be arriving early and they somehow were able to work out an early check-in which really helped us out ! Thanks Deanne!
When we start planning our visit for next January-the Hermosa will be at the top of my list.
Property grounds are magnificent and upkeep is obvious. Feels like a tropical paradise right in the desert while preserving the desert flora. Room was tucked away but did face other patios of units. Fortunately, no one was out on their patio when we were, so was very private. Original design elements in the unit such as cathedral hardwood ceilings with skylight (had filtered shade on it), saltillo tile floors, french doors to patio were so beautiful. The unit preserved the feel of the old Southwest, but was updated with modern and spacious shower and plush robes, so had a spa feel. Very large mini fridge in closet which was very nice, and a safe for valuables. Furniture in room was quality - leather chairs, wood poster bed. Everything showed attention to detail and was relaxing and welcoming.
There is a step down (1 step) from entryway and bathroom leading to the main bedroom that has a nightlight but can be hard to miss if you come in carrying things. Perhaps put a handrail or something there.
Friendly small hotel in local neighbourhood
Couldn’t walk anywhere. The pool is tiny and crowded
Love how friendly everyone was and how relaxed the place is.
A lovely resort with everything we wanted. Lon’s is an amazing restaurant for brunch, dinner and everything in between. The team was amazing and we couldn’t have asked for a better experience.
Our room was, as always, wonderful (clean, comfortable, spacious) and the grounds are beautiful. BUT...the robes are small, lightweight, not at all luxurious, and there was only warm (bordering on tepid) water in the shower. My husband had also pre-ordered champagne to be left in the room, and they had "no record of it" (though they did deliver that fairly quickly). It seems for the price Hermosa Inn could at least invest in better robes and an improved water-heating system.
Dinner was great
Would not change anything
Great hotel
Need to get younger crowd
Character & charm, landscaping, fires going…
No AC and small spa
Everything was so peaceful and comfortable. The benches everywhere, the serenity, the understated luxury all added up to a lovely stay. We couldn’t see another building or hear a single car, which was remarkable considering the location near business centers.
Beautiful Inn overall. Fabulous Staff from start to finish. Delicious food / dining.
The Hermosa Inn is a boutique property in a pretty town east of Phoenix. There are groups of 2-4 casitas spaced out around a beautifully landscaped, peaceful garden. I'd recommend asking for room that is not at the rear of the property near the parking lot. While the convenience to the parking lot is nice you may want something more secluded. The casita/room itself was charming with the special touches that only a boutique property offers (e.g., wood beams in the ceiling and beautiful wide plank wood floors). The bedding could use an upgrade, in my opinion though, to make it more luxurious and comfortable. In terms of dining options, the pub has lovely outdoor seating options in an inviting garden. And outdoor seating is also available at breakfast. One note, I wish that there were smaller breakfast portions available on the weekend rather than a full brunch. Overall, the Hermosa Inn is worth a look if you plan to stay in the area.
We have stayed at The Hermosa Inn several times and were always impressed however this last stay was subpar. We stayed two nights and never received clean glassware or coffee cups after the first night (attempted to ask a housekeeper however she didn't understand the request). The TV on the wall was secured by 2 loose screws and we were unable to position it for viewing due to a safety concern. Also, the room was very dusty and in need of some cleaning. Moving forward we will explore other lodging in the area.
Great resort with a wonderful atmosphere and friendly staff... delicious restaurant. relaxing pool, bar with a great selection of drinks
Extremely nice accommodations in a wonderfully designed setting that was well worth the price; i.e., you get what you pay for rings true. Fabulous grounds with a great dining experience at Lon’s. Lots of character to the grounds, furnishings, and decor throughout.
