Disappointed that late check out was not offered even though colleague staying at same hotel with similar status was extended by an hour. I informed due to meeting that was overlapping. Unsure if there is a business center as it was not offered as a space to work. Hotel is extremely busy and loud in main lobby area. Would not recommend or return for business travel at this location when working from this office location.
I haven't posted a review here in years, but my stay at the Philadelphia Marriott Downtown was so atrocious that I am warning my fellow travelers: stay away. First, a caveat: this is not the fault of the employees, who were nothing but polite. This is a fault of the people who own this hotel--it is severely understaffed and poorly built (more on that later). Here are the highlights, er, lowlights of my stay: 1) I waited in a long check-in line at 2PM, and after check-in I was told I could pick up my key at 4PM. When I returned at 4PM, there was an even longer line, and I was forced to stand in line AGAIN just to pick up my key. 2) At 10PM, exhausted after a long day, I got into one of the double beds in my room and was horrified to feel someone else's sock in the sheets! I am a germaphobe, so believe me when I flipped! The sock was white, so I tried to tell myself that it was laundered with the sheets, but I don't know for sure. 3) The room had virtually no soundproofing; in this regard, it was the worst hotel I've ever stayed in. A very loud man was having a phone conversation on speaker in the room next door, and my daughter and I could hear almost every word. He kept us up till 11PM catching up with his family. I have *never* experienced anything remotely close to this in a hotel room before. Employees apologized for these things, but no one made anything right. I'll never stay here again.
We got breakfast at The Pantry. The staff and food were very good but seemed overwhelmed, especially the Barista. I think during peak times there should be 2.
Nothing major but I did not find the bed comfortable. Would have appreciated water in the room and also perhaps 2 packs of regular coffee instead of one decaf. Also housekeeping came knocking on the door at 8:15. We were not on business so did not appreciate that.
Echoing a previous review. We were in Room 8837 in the Headhouse Tower. There was a kind of faux window. It was heavily frosted, and at times a light would go on -- as though the window actually went into another room, and not to the outside. As others have said, it is kind of dark and depressing, having no access to natural light. And we'd really like to know -- what is beyond that "window"???
Nice location center city. Friendly front desk staff.
Not enough help at lobby bar/food area. Many menu items were not available. Pantry is overpriced. Parking is overpriced. Rooms are overpriced
The service at the Front Desk was amazing. Out check-in was seamless.
We received a warm welcome as Ambassador Elite BONVoY members. Our experience was so exhilarating at the Philadelphia Marriott Downtown that our entire visit to Philadelphia was enhanced.
Stay here every month. Always clean, comfortable and an excellent staff.
Very limited menu and dining options
Good
Friendly and helpful staff Restraint staff Leslie,Nikki, and Mickala.
Some confusion with billing, but handled professionally.
Great location, excellent customer service, clean room. Huge thanks to the front desk team for helping me through a booking issue.
Although it was freezing outside it was warm inside! The excellent service provided by Curtis at the check in/check out desk was kind, professional and efficient. Also, the lobby bar was a relaxing stop before heading to the Car Show at the PA Convention Center. This was our 5th year and still get welcomed by Dana like she knew us for years… a true welcome and the Espresso Martinis only enhance the excellent experience. We had a couple cold water issues but that worked out. All in all we had a good time and walked away with making some new friends! Thanks again Curtis and Dana! Keep welcoming guests and making them feel like family!!!
The location.
Clean, convenient
The lobby bar area was very cold and forced us to leave the hotel to eat.
