Amazing boutique hotel in the heart of downtown Sorrento - but with the feel of being in a private garden. Highly recommend!!
The views are spectacular and the rooms deliver on the five star experience. The breakfast buffet is extensive and in a gorgeous ballroom with spectacular views.
When in town, you walk down a long garden path to get to the entrance. The terrace views are unrivaled. The elevator to the harbor is a special treat and make boat days relaxing and enjoyable from start to finish. The Concierge are wonderful and helped set up numerous reservations- for restaurants and activities.
The people at the hotel greeted us by name and made us feel so welcome.
Highly recommend
Wow, just wonderful. We went as a family and were upgraded to a beautiful suite with sea views. The location was perfect and just beautiful. Orange and lemon trees and fragrant flowers everywhere. Great service and one of the best breakfasts I have had in a hotel ever. We all enjoyed the pool and got massages in the spa. High recommend!
The Grand Hotel Excelsior Vittoria is the peak of perfection. Small details like fresh flowers in the room and a very attentive staff compliment the gorgeous grounds and ideal location.
World class hotel which has improved over the years.... this time one of the improvements was the introduction of "to order" eggs/ omelettes at the excellent breakfast.
Pool, housekeeping, bar, management (Tiziana and the family) and all staff are marvelous....nice to see strong continuity of staff.
Lunch at the Orangerie was very pleasant... but sometimes pizzas and club sandwiches were a little disappointing....
Dinner at Le Bosquet was an experience - though better if the terrace is open rather than having to eat indoors.
Do book a room with a view over the bay!
We hope to be back shortly.....
This is one of the loveliest properties I’ve stayed at. Its staff is kind and attentive, without being fussy. Our room was enormous (double room) with a living room. Our bathroom was luxurious. The hotel has all the amenities you could wish for housed in a timeless, graceful palazzo. I absolutely loved everything about our stay.
I didn’t like having to leave so soon. Retorno presto.
We have traveled all over the world and have stayed at some amazing places; this hotel is one of the best hotels in the world, worthy of a good review. It’s the details that matter here. The room: from the plush, oversized bath towels, thick bath mats, Dyson hairdryer, ample clothes hangers, to the high quality toilet tissue… high quality comfortable bed, bedding and pillows… heated floors, a scale and makeup mirror in the bathroom.. to the turndown service with plenty of aqua pana water… our stay was beyond comfortable. We spent each morning and evening on our balcony enjoying the pristine view. Service: the service was consistently exceptional from our check in (greeting us by name as our driver pulled up to the hotel) to our 4 am checkout where they toted our bags to our early morning ride to the airport. Restaurant service was consistently prompt without being overbearing. The hotel has a very convenient elevator that takes you down to the port via a private (hotel guest use only) tunnel. Everything about our stay was wonderful. Highly recommend lunch on their terrace. Their pasta is some of the best in Italy. We booked via the Amex fine hotels and resorts website and got a room upgrade upon arrival. Overall a spectacular stay and experience.
Tip: we typically rent a car when in Italy and are very comfortable driving all over the country. We ditched the car for this trip and it’s something I would do again. Parking is difficult here. The hotel is in a fabulous location and you can get anywhere via walking. If you want to visit Capri or the Amalfi coast, do so via hired boat or car service.
We have stayed in many fine hotels around the world, but this is one of the best we have ever stayed in. The service and people were absolutely wonderful from start to finish - warm and friendly, eager to help, responsive, and a true joy. The views we had from the terrace and our balcony were incredible. The restaurants on the property were excellent - breakfast, lunch on the terrace, and Bosquet were all delicious and luxurious. The property makes you feel like you are in a private mansion. My daughter’s first trip to Italy was made incredibly special by this wonderful hotel and its lovely people, and we will definitely be back, to the best hotel in Sorrento.
We just came home from a 6-night stay in the Excelsior Vittoria hotel.
It saddens us that our stay was average, even below average.
Before coming to Sorrento we wrote to the concierge, asking to organize some excursions for us. I had to write three times before getting any answer (I even called between the 2nd and 3 mail as I thought there maybe were some technical issues).
We booked 3 dinners in the restaurant Terraza Bosquet. After the first evening however we had to cancel the remaining evenings. We were seated at the table furthest to the left (in the area where there are only two tables). When the waiter was describing each dish, we couldn’t hear him at all over the noise from the table next to us. We told him three times that we couldn’t hear him, but got no response. The wines were very good, but the food was truly very, very mediocre. We dined at Restaurant George (Naples), Don Alfonso and Il Buco; each of these three restaurants is far, far better than Terraza Bosquet – there is simply no comparison.
Before making the reservation I asked for the temperature of the pool, as we like very much to swim. I was told the pool was heated to 28-29°C. This was certainly not the case. The pool was way too cool. During the week passed at your hotel, we were only able to swim once, as the temperature was very cold. During the 6 days I only saw 2 persons having the courage to go in (a grandfather playing with his granddaughter). Plus there is this awful music, every day the same songs, we asked several times to stop the music, as I think everybody by the pool wants to relax, this however was not possible.
We stayed in rooms 122-123. The views were astonishing. The cleaning was done efficiently. The WIFI however almost never worked. The moment we left the hotel for the town, all messages came suddenly through our phone. It was almost impossible to buy a new book on Kindle, I had to download 6 or 7 times. This is unacceptable. I asked for 4 large bottles of sparkling water every day, some days we received them, the last days I had to ask 3 times for the bottles to be delivered.
We wanted to inform you so you could know. Some standards are really not met by this hotel.
In addition: we wrote this email to the owner, and concierge of the hotel. However, 3 weeks after our stay, still got no reply...
Excellent location , very comfortable and clean
I liked everything about this hotel
The hotel and its' surroundings is beautiful and it has been since it was built, but it is the staff that made this property shines. The rooms were newly renovated felt very luxurious which is rare for a historical hotel this calibre.
The staff are the true beating heart of this property.
Constanza at house keeping was kind to us and help to care for my mother and her mobility issue, she went out of her way to make us feel that we were at home ( albeit a luxurious one).
Aurora the hostess at the terrace lounge went out of her way to make my introverted daughter felt welcome. She was informative, attentive, and kind. Her genuine kindness will always be remembered by my daughter and is one of the highlight of her stay at the hotel.
No words can describe the property and its' beauty, one should always experience it themselves.
One of the best hotels my wife and I have had the pleasure to visit. Can't beat the location (right off the Corso Italia), and the patio in our room offered a stunning view of Vesuvius and the Bay of Naples. Additionally, the service was truly 5-star, putting this resort in a rarefied league of hotels and resorts. Finally, if you're a foodie, I would suggest making a reservation at their Michelin-starred restaurant far in advance. We arrived in late April and found it fully booked for the duration of our stay. That said, there are many wonderful restaurants just a short walk from the hotel. Highly recommended.
Very impressive property , location, dining and decoration with historical storry. The dinner was very refine and delicious.
Very enjoyable vacation celebrating my birthday. This is truly something to remember. The location was perfect for all events
The location and hotel itself are truly spectacular! Despite this, my experience was not as idyllic as other guests.
I booked this hotel nearly a year in advance, relying on the descriptions and images presented on the website. I initially booked a Deluxe Junior Suite Sea View – Terrace (sleeps three) and explicitly requested TWO beds, as reflected in the description indicating “double beds” , connecting room and a sofa bed
On April 12, I emailed to inquire about an upgrade. I was offered a DOUBLE upgrade to a Suite Deluxe Sea View at half the upgrade cost. The description of this upgraded suite states that it sleeps four, includes a full sea view, and offers a separate living area, with either a king-size bed or twin beds . I I accepted the upgrade and sent a follow-up email requesting confirmation of TWO beds.
Upon arrival, I was brought to our “suite" What in reality, was simply one room with two beds and minimal furnishings (picture attached)
This does not align with any reasonable or standard definition of a suite, nor does it match what is advertised on the website for Junior Suite Deluxe or the Deluxe suite, which referenced "a separate living area and accommodations for up to four guests."
When I brought this to the attention of the Front Desk personnel, I was informed that “not all suites are the same” and that the building’s age accounts for discrepancies between what is shown online and what is actually provided.
The front desk manager repeated the same explanation. At that point, I was left wondering if they truly believed I was that ignorant. After much discussion, I was offered a two-room suite, with the caveat that it had a king bed that could not be separated, and that a rollaway bed could be placed in the other room. Again, this was not what I booked or what was confirmed. At that point, I presented all of my email correspondence confirming both the upgraded suite category and the confirmed request for two beds. I also showed them the descriptions of the suites on the website and they acted like they had never seen them. They stated they needed to “speak with marketing"
Obviously, the hotel did not have a suite reserved, matching what I had booked and confirmed, and instead attempted to substitute something inferior while still charging the agreed rate.
To summarize, I was shown a single room with two beds and minimal furnishings, presented as a “Deluxe Suite,” because, the building’s age justifies discrepancies between advertising and reality.
It is an issue of inaccurate representation and failure to deliver what was advertised and booked.
Ultimately, the front desk manager provided us with the Pavarotti Suite. A gorgeous suite, which we very much enjoyed and appreciated .
However, the path to that resolution is the issue.
A more appropriate approach would have been to acknowledge that the reserved room type was unavailable and proactively offer a comparable or superior alternative. Yes, they ultimately did the right thing. However, the situation was handled in a way that dismissed my credibility as a client. They tried to take the low road in a high end luxury category.
A truly grand hotel. The hard product and more importantly the people make this a truly great place to stay. Warm and friendly service very professional from dining to housekeeping everything is perfection. Memorable!
