Staff friendly and efficient, great location, delicious meal at Tony's. It was a special occasion for us and we were treated royally.
Friendly staff
Stayed here for 1 night in early July. We booked a standard room with a queen bed via Expedia, and ended up on the ground floor, at the very end of the annex.
The hotel is very popular with cruise and large group tours, which could mean full parking lot and long queues to check in. We checked in just before one such large group, and thanked our lucky stars for arriving before them. Staff were pleasant, the hotel was in good shape and our renovated room was clean and comfortable.
The things that bothered us were very loud noises from the rooms above us (due to the hotel construction, I believe; the staff were able to quickly address it when we reported which was really appreciated); additional made-up fees added automatically to our bill (i.e. one for use of the in-room safe that we didn’t use and another for some “sustainability fee” that the staff couldn’t really explain) as well as a very strong scent in the lobby; the scent, very nice by the way, was so strong that I was struggling with breathing and feeling it in my throat just by walking past the reception hall. For anyone with any sort of asthma, allergies, sensitive to triggers of this nature etc, I would very seriously reconsider staying here. I very much like a good scent, but they really overdo it.
All in all we had a decent stay here, but I wouldn’t necessarily rush back.
Breakfast buffet was a great surprise. Comfortable bed. Also, you can do your laundry!
Neighbors noisy
We arrived on August 4th. The room assigned to us appeared to be fine. However, when I attempted to take a shower, the water was lukewarm and wouldn't drain properly. The tub was extremely slippery, and I nearly fell several times. Standing in ankle-deep water that had a urine-like odor was incredibly disgusting.
We were relocated to a different room. I had to request that they address the slippery bathtub issue, as it felt like an ice rink. The front desk mentioned that the cleaning staff are supposed to provide bath mats, but they never do.
My parents came to visit on Saturday and the elevator sensors had stopped working so the door trapped my dad (with his walker) in the door and we were trying to find a button to open it again but it wouldn’t. My dad had to pull himself out of the door. How dangerous for your guests. Myself and other guests were upset about it and I informed Keke and showed her what was happening. It wasn’t fixed in a timely manner.
Getting our room cleaned, even every other day as they claimed, was quite frustrating. Each person had a different explanation regarding when the cleaning would occur. One day, I needed toilet paper, and since they were delivering it, I asked if they could also clean the room. An hour and a half later, I still hadn't received the toilet paper, and no one had come by. We were then instructed to request supplies from the front desk so we could bring them to our room ourselves. We ended up collecting garbage bags from the front desk and taking care of our own trash.
I asked about having my room cleaned on Sunday since it hadn't been cleaned on Saturday, and they informed me that we weren't on the list, but they would check with housekeeping. During our eight-day stay, our room was only fully cleaned twice. It felt like we were a bother for making the request. However, the cleaners were very polite, which was the only positive aspect of our stay. On Monday I did request that our room be cleaned when we left for a couple of hours and they did a wonderful job. We appreciated it.
The constant noise from the street, including yelling, fighting, and police sirens, was overwhelming. While walking back to the hotel during the day after a trip to the pharmacy, I saw a girl vomiting outside the hotel. I also observed that the handles next to the stairs were dirty, and when I exited through the back door of the hotel, the doors were equally grimy. I was reluctant to touch them because they were so disgusting.
While discussing the elevator issue with Keke, I overheard one of your front desk staff say, "she has complained about everything since she arrived." Whether this was directed at me or another guest, it was unprofessional. If you truly cared about your guests, we wouldn't have to voice complaints. We are paying customers. Did you forget that aspect?
Best property in Whitehorse. Great staff, very helpful & friendly.
Ok hotel but did not clean room or replace anything in our 3 day stay. Room nice and great having a fridge and microwave. Friendly staff. Great shuttle service. Location good . Nice place to stay but over-priced. Recommend if just want to be in heart of Whitehorse.
