Classic hotel vibe, Location, Staf
Great location close to Union Square, within walking distance of the metro system/BART. The room was decently sized, the bed was comfy, and the view was also pretty good. Free coffee/hot cocoa every morning in the lobby was a nice bonus.

Elevator was broken for 3 days and you either had to wait a long time for the elevator to come or you gave up and walked - 8 stories........ Personell not helpful at all, just could say they were on it

Very disappointing stay.
We stayed from April 12–17 and experienced serious issues. My colleague found a cockroach in his room on the first day (inside his jumper) and another the next day. We had to request a room change, and while it was eventually done, the staff showed no apology or concern and made the process unnecessarily difficult.
On top of that, the lift was not working for 3 out of 5 days, meaning we had to carry luggage and boxes up to the 7th floor multiple times. The malfunction also caused constant noise, I even had to call reception at 2am because I couldn’t sleep.
For the price paid, this is completely unacceptable. Easily one of the worst hotel experiences we’ve had.

The elevators were terrible. Never thought I’d include elevators in a review. They were slow. Stopped randomly at floors not selected…both going up/down. Every guest I encountered was frustrated.
I asked for one extra hour for check out. My son swam Alcatraz/Golden Gate. Didn’t want to fly home soaked in salt bay water. No. They threatened a $100 charge. For ONE hour to shower. We barely made it back to collect our things prior to 12. They would not budge. We weren’t asking for anything frivolous. People that do this swim do it annually. Not only will we not stay here again. We won’t recommend it. 100 swimmers (plus families) annually from our club.

The last 2 days the elevator wasn't working, but with no sign or notice. Housekeeping woke us up at 8a to clean
Room, like the whole hotel is really old. Room was dirty, carpet doesn't see cleaning since really long time... Room had a really bad smell - mold and musty.
Staff at the reception were not helpful at all - we asked for additional Room service but of course nothing happened.
