Beautiful and memorable
They didn’t tell us the Tiki room was closed the day after we arrived.
I was disappointed with the property because it looked very nice from the outside, and the photos were great, but the hotel was quite old.
Best hotel in SF.
Nothing
Hands down the best lavender latte ever! Thanks Alma for this delicious treat🌺🌺🌺🪻🪻🪻
We requested a microwave after returning with wonderful leftover pizza. The hotel was full, yet they brought us the microwave within minutes. Got a hot chocolate from the Cirque bar made by Alma that was incredibly chocolatey with outstanding service. The staff at the Fairmont are so nice and the location and views are wonderful.
Location was very good. It was close to main attractions . Hotel was old but beautiful and very clean. Our room was quite and nice
Bed wasn't comfortable. Parking was expensive for $115 a day which was pricy. Hotel restaurant didn't have many food options and not really tasty but pricy
My stay at the Fairmont San Francisco was nothing short of exceptional. From the moment I stepped into the lobby, I knew I had chosen the right hotel. The building is absolutely beautiful, impeccably maintained, and carries a sense of grandeur that immediately transports you to another era.
What truly elevated the experience, however, was the people. Cameron at the front desk was an absolute pleasure to interact with—warm, professional, and effortlessly charming. He embodied the kind of gracious hospitality that has become increasingly rare. In many ways, he reminded me of a younger M. Gustave from The Grand Budapest Hotel: polished, personable, and genuinely invested in making guests feel welcome. The staff in Laurel Court were equally outstanding. Whether at breakfast or dinner, every interaction was friendly, engaging, and authentic, making each meal something I looked forward to.
My accommodations exceeded every expectation. The room was beautifully appointed, but the true highlight was the breathtaking view of San Francisco Bay. Waking each morning to watch the light change over the water with a fresh cup of coffee in hand was one of the defining moments of my trip.
The Fairmont’s location on Nob Hill is difficult to surpass. Stepping outside the front entrance, you are immediately greeted with sweeping views down California Street toward the bay, while the surrounding hills create a dramatic backdrop that reminds you why San Francisco is one of America’s most beautiful cities.
What I appreciated most was how the Fairmont made me feel. Staying here felt like stepping back into the Gilded Age—a time when grand hotels were destinations in themselves. Surrounded by so much history, architecture, and legacy, it was easy to understand why the Fairmont has remained one of San Francisco’s great landmarks for more than a century.
One of my favorite memories was spending time on the Garden Terrace, simply watching the clouds drift overhead as the sun moved in and out of the fog. The distant calls of seagulls, accompanied by the unmistakable ring of the city’s cable car bells, created one of those rare moments of complete contentment that stays with you long after you’ve returned home.
I would return to the Fairmont San Francisco without hesitation. The combination of exceptional staff, rich history, elegant accommodations, and an unrivaled setting makes it one of the finest places to experience San Francisco.
Years from now, when I think back on this trip, I know exactly what I’ll remember: standing by my bedroom window each morning with my first cup of coffee, looking out over the bay while the familiar ring of the cable car bells echoed through Nob Hill. That simple ritual perfectly captured the spirit of my stay, and the Fairmont was at the heart of the entire experience.
Alma at the cafe was amazing! She made the best coffee and she was a shining smile to start our day. All the employees at the cafe were so friendly and went out of their way to make sure we had a pleasant experience. I can’t believe they always remembered us and our drink order.
Open space and friendly staff
Location
I was disappointed with The Fairmont. I expected a more upscale hotel. The hotel itself is very beautiful. The room was good sized, comfortable bed, but only a couple of drawers. Nice bathroom, but not much space to put anything. There was no refrigerator in the room, only a minibar refrigerator that you can’t touch. The room rate is expensive. I had to ask for turn down service several times. Also, there are many steep hills by the hotel.
We had an amazing stay at the Fairmont San Francisco!
I wanted to take a moment to recognize the incredible team who made our stay so comfortable and memorable.
From the moment we arrived, Kathryn welcomed us with such warmth and professionalism. She made us feel at home within the first few minutes of checking in. When she found out it was our first stay and that we were celebrating a special occasion, she even surprised us with a Fairmont tumbler as a souvenir. It was such a thoughtful gesture that made us feel truly welcomed.
A special thank you as well to Zaire. He gave us fantastic recommendations on places to visit and things to do around the city. He also generously showed us the penthouse, which was such an unforgettable experience and something you don’t get just anywhere. It’s thoughtful moments like these that truly set Fairmont apart from other hotel brands.
Every morning at breakfast, we looked forward to seeing Fermin. He is exceptional at what he does. He remembered our names and even our breakfast preferences, so we barely had to order after the first day! Beyond his attentiveness, he was genuinely kind and built such great rapport, not only with us, but with every guest we saw him interact with.
Lastly, a heartfelt thank you to Susan, our housekeeper. Although we didn’t get the chance to speak with her until our last day, it was clear how attentive and detail-oriented she was. She anticipated our needs and kept our room spotless throughout our stay. We truly appreciated her care and hard work.
Thank you to the entire Fairmont San Francisco team for making our visit so special.
Great location, food and an exceptionel serviceminded staff making our vacation a dream come true,
