Lots of fluff talked about what makes 4 or 5 stars. For me staff add at least 2 stars. No point having great facilities and terrible staff. All staff here without exception are fantastic. Very friendly (big family) and very much professionally informal. Stayed 6 nights last week in a deluxe room which was clean, modern, spacious (especially the bathroom) and comfortable. An old historic building, but very well kept. Unlike many hotels that require coats of paint or have threadbare carpet not this place. Concierge fantastic and nothing is too much trouble. Breakfast has a good choice and all fresh. Best thing for us was the bar. Best hotel bar I have ever visited. Wood panelled, table service, freshly made cocktails, knowledgeable and friendly staff. Expensive yes, but you get what you pay for and it has a very relaxed atmosphere. Definitely the place to stay in Frankfurt.
Wonderful introduction to German hotel style in Frankfurt. Elegant, yet unpretentious. Fantastic central location. Spacious studio suite. Good if small gym.
This is a wonderful hotel at which we stayed for ten nights. We’d heard about the hotel before and were excited to spend time there. The physical hotel, and rooms, are wonderful. Very comfortable, clean and with very nice views. The hotel is also is very centrally located for both business and casual travelers. The concierge services are excellent: ask for Julia, a skilled “gold keys” concierge. She’s very helpful. Room service is wonderful. In addition, everyone who works at this hotel is personable and focused on making sure that each and every guest is comfortable and gets the attention he/she should get. It gets our highest recommendation.
The hotel is a gorgeous historic building. The suite we were in was huge and very well appointed. We did a walking tour to the river and past 8 of the bridges. The views were excellent. Room service at the hotel was superb; always right on time. There is a lovely tea room just past reception on the main floor that you must try.
This is a beautiful hotel in a great location. Room was large and comfortable. The hotel staff were very accomodating. I had dinner in the bistro and it was very good! Highly recommend for Frankfurt
This is one of the best hotel in frankfur highly recommended
The hotel is classic and beautiful. The rooms on the street side are also very nice — in my opinion even nicer than the rooms at the back, which overlook a large black roof full of technical equipment.
However, I will not return to this hotel, and the reason is the minibar policy, which really left a bad taste.
Apparently the minibar is not automatically refilled once you use something. I enjoy having a glass of wine when I return to my room in the evening, but every time I came back the minibar had not been replenished.
Day 1 I mentioned it.
Day 2 I mentioned it again.
Day 3 I started to become a bit annoyed.
The receptionist initially did not understand the situation either, until the hotel manager joined the conversation and explained — both to me and to the receptionist — that this is their official policy.
Now, is this really about the minibar itself? Yes, it is.
When you pay €700 per night (4 nights = €2,800 (!!) you expect a full service experience, including basic things like minibar replenishment (which of course I would happily pay for). What you do not expect are unnecessary irritations like this.
The hotel later offered the minibar items for free, which was not necessary for me at all. I told them that if they insist, fine, but that I would still write about this experience online.
In all my years of travelling, I have never stayed in a hotel where a well-stocked minibar at check-in is simply ignored afterwards, requiring the guest to ask every single day for it to be refilled.
Pretty good hotel. Location exceptional. Friendly staff. Especially Naved at the front desk — he recommended BUNCA coffee shop (5 min walk from hotel) when I asked him I need really good coffee.. turns out, BUNCA has exceptional coffee (perhaps the best in Frankfurt).
Also, hotel WiFi was so quick (great speed). Highly recommended hotel if you plan to live in the heart of Frankfurt.
This is one of Frankfurt’s landmark located near Kaiserplatz, dining and shopping incredibly easy.My room was a bit dated in places, but clean and comfy. Breakfast buffet was excellent, though service was slow. Staff was professional and friendly. Actually this is a premium hotel with matching prices. You’re paying for history, location and classic luxury, don’t always feel fully five star at the price point.
Booked what we thought would be a really nice hotel for the end of our honeymoon, but we were quite disappointed. The "spa" is just a couple of saunas, uncomfortable tiled and heated chairs, and showers. No pool or tub!? Nowhere to actually relax for an extended period of time, awful. Additionally, the elevators are incredibly old and slow and the carpets feel like you're at a cheap motel... the staff was fine but not inviting or particularly helpful. I suggest spending your money elsewhere and get a much better experience.
My stay at Steigenberger Hotel in Frankfurt was absolutely exceptional. From the moment I arrived, everything was handled with professionalism and warmth.
The room was beautifully designed, spotless, and extremely comfortable — a perfect balance of elegance and functionality. Every detail felt thoughtfully curated, creating a relaxing and luxurious atmosphere.
What truly made the experience stand out was the staff. They were genuinely kind, attentive, and always ready to assist with a smile. Their hospitality elevated the entire stay and made me feel truly welcomed.
Everything was simply amazing. I would highly recommend this hotel to anyone visiting Frankfurt and I look forward to returning again very soon.
From the very first moment you enter the hotel, you immediately feel a special positive vibe. The atmosphere is welcoming, elegant, and genuinely warm.
A special appreciation to Stefan, the General Manager, and Gergely, the Hotel Manager, for their outstanding leadership and visible presence. Their passion and attention to detail are clearly reflected in every corner of the hotel. They lead by example, and this is felt through the entire team,
Every single team member provides care with true friendliness and professionalism. The service is not only efficient, but heartfelt. You truly feel valued as a guest, not just accommodated.
It is clear that this hotel operates with a strong culture of hospitality, teamwork, and guest satisfaction. Congratulations to the entire team for delivering such a memorable experience.
Highly recommended.
So Frankfurt was our launch point with much jet lag.
This was the most comfortable place to acclimate to a different time zone.
Upon check-in into our room, I thought the bed was not finished.... On the contrary. It was the most magnificent hotel bed experience I have had. With a tightly tucked bottom sheet (no idea HOW they did that), and 2 duvets on the king sized bed, my husband and I were each able to hog the blanket.
Two showers, one to clean off the travel grime. One to awaken and refresh to a new day! Ohhh and a soak in the gorgeous tub to relax away the fatigue.
Included breakfast was anything you could want. I like to start with a breakfast salad.... Check! Cheeses, breads, eggs(scrambled, fried,or boiled), meats and yoghurt ...and honey dripping from a comb to top things off!
Loved the one of a kind Gucci chair in reception. Staff was friendly and accomodating. This is the kind of stay that makes you re-evaluate ones home set up! EXCELLENT!
Best hotel breakfast I have ever had . Clean rooms friendly staff
This was my second stay after a gap of several years, and what a remarkable positive transformation. From the very moment of arrival, the experience felt elevated. The bellboy welcomed me with a genuine smile, handled my luggage proactively, and had it delivered to my room immediately after I received my key card — in fact, he was already waiting at the door. A small detail, but executed perfectly, and it set the tone.
Breakfast offers a great selection, and room service was consistently efficient and well presented. Later, I met friends at Oscars and was extremely impressed by both the service and the overall atmosphere — a clear step up and deserving of top scores.
It is very evident that under the leadership of General Manager Herr Frank, both service quality and product standards have increased significantly. The improvement is noticeable across all touchpoints — well done, Herr Frank.
My personal highlight, however, was the concierge team. I sent several pieces of luggage from different countries, and every single item was traced, coordinated, and already in place upon my arrival. I was even pre-briefed on which courier to choose — a level of foresight that truly made the difference and demonstrated outstanding professionalism.
Overall, a great hotel with over 100 years of history, a true winner in a fantastic location. I will definitely be back. 👍👍👍
It is part of Amex Fine hotel so it is an upscale hotel. Spacious room and very nice furnishing. Location is super good especially if you want to be near a Christmas market. Service was excellent. Breakfast was great. I cannot find anything bad with this hotel.
The Steigenberger has several positives - a beautiful old building, spacious rooms, in a great location - but also many negatives. We needed connecting rooms to accommodate our children, and we were informed that only the older, un-renovated rooms were connecting. The updated rooms only were adjoining.
Older furniture and furnishings aren’t that much of a negative in my mind. It was the attention to detail of housekeeping and maintenance that made our stay less than great. Between our 2 rooms, we only had 1 bathrobe. We wanted to wear them to the spa, but couldn’t. Between our 2 rooms, we only had 1 “do not disturb” sign, something we needed for both rooms since we had stayed out late for New Year’s Eve. Neither room had a working tablet to see the room service menu or to order. Both rooms ran out of toilet paper after our second night and we didn’t go crazy on our usage. It was just one frustration after another and will prevent us from staying there again.
The room was lovely and the visit started off just fine until the window in the bedroom would not close after being opened. After calling the front desk and notifying them of the issue they sent someone up to try to fix the window but they could not get it to close. I know these things can happen but what was most infuriating was the fact I was accused of breaking the window lock and being told I was not supposed to open the window. Nowhere on the window or near it was there a notice advising not to open the window. We ended up being moved to a different room because the window could not be kept closed as the weather was very cold and windy. There are plenty of other options in Frankfurt and I will never stay at this hotel again.
Not a great experience, arrived Christmas and everything was closed in the area so tried to eat at hotel and they were booked and didnt accommodate a table. The room iPad was broken when we arrived so we asked to fix and they said they would be back with replacement and never came back. Therefore at Christmas dinner with limited room service menu. Asked for additional blanket and was told that housekeeping was gone for Christmas so they would try and find a blanket and never did. We were going to come back again next week since this was a lay over destination and decided to cancel and book another hotel.
yes, the building is lovely however there are several 'but's'. There is disparity between the rooms, some are much bigger than others but the same price; the rooms are way overheated, too hot for a comfortable night I ended up opening the window, but was then woken really early by the noise from all the massive building works on the opposite side of the street. The bathroom itself was clean but the ledge on the shower panel over the bath was black with mould, so neither shower nor bath were used. Although we had thought breakfast was included, it wasn't, and was expensive. The plates for hot food were heavy and cold, what should have been the cooked breakfast options were barely lukewarm and looked like they had been out for some time as becoming 'shrivelled' and did not look appetising at all. Tea not easy to find, and milk even less easy to find, I had to ask 2 staff for assitance and they weren't particulary friendly or helpful.
