An exceptional stay
Pros:

My stay at Steigenberger Hotel in Frankfurt was absolutely exceptional. From the moment I arrived, everything was handled with professionalism and warmth.

The room was beautifully designed, spotless, and extremely comfortable — a perfect balance of elegance and functionality. Every detail felt thoughtfully curated, creating a relaxing and luxurious atmosphere.

What truly made the experience stand out was the staff. They were genuinely kind, attentive, and always ready to assist with a smile. Their hospitality elevated the entire stay and made me feel truly welcomed.

Everything was simply amazing. I would highly recommend this hotel to anyone visiting Frankfurt and I look forward to returning again very soon.

Great experience with such outstanding services
Pros:

From the very first moment you enter the hotel, you immediately feel a special positive vibe. The atmosphere is welcoming, elegant, and genuinely warm.

A special appreciation to Stefan, the General Manager, and Gergely, the Hotel Manager, for their outstanding leadership and visible presence. Their passion and attention to detail are clearly reflected in every corner of the hotel. They lead by example, and this is felt through the entire team,

Every single team member provides care with true friendliness and professionalism. The service is not only efficient, but heartfelt. You truly feel valued as a guest, not just accommodated.

It is clear that this hotel operates with a strong culture of hospitality, teamwork, and guest satisfaction. Congratulations to the entire team for delivering such a memorable experience.

Highly recommended.

EXCELLENT ACCOMODATIONS!
Pros:

So Frankfurt was our launch point with much jet lag.
This was the most comfortable place to acclimate to a different time zone.
Upon check-in into our room, I thought the bed was not finished.... On the contrary. It was the most magnificent hotel bed experience I have had. With a tightly tucked bottom sheet (no idea HOW they did that), and 2 duvets on the king sized bed, my husband and I were each able to hog the blanket.

Two showers, one to clean off the travel grime. One to awaken and refresh to a new day! Ohhh and a soak in the gorgeous tub to relax away the fatigue.

Included breakfast was anything you could want. I like to start with a breakfast salad.... Check! Cheeses, breads, eggs(scrambled, fried,or boiled), meats and yoghurt ...and honey dripping from a comb to top things off!

Loved the one of a kind Gucci chair in reception. Staff was friendly and accomodating. This is the kind of stay that makes you re-evaluate ones home set up! EXCELLENT!

A Hotel Reborn: Outstanding Service and Leadership
Pros:

This was my second stay after a gap of several years, and what a remarkable positive transformation. From the very moment of arrival, the experience felt elevated. The bellboy welcomed me with a genuine smile, handled my luggage proactively, and had it delivered to my room immediately after I received my key card — in fact, he was already waiting at the door. A small detail, but executed perfectly, and it set the tone.

Breakfast offers a great selection, and room service was consistently efficient and well presented. Later, I met friends at Oscars and was extremely impressed by both the service and the overall atmosphere — a clear step up and deserving of top scores.

It is very evident that under the leadership of General Manager Herr Frank, both service quality and product standards have increased significantly. The improvement is noticeable across all touchpoints — well done, Herr Frank.

My personal highlight, however, was the concierge team. I sent several pieces of luggage from different countries, and every single item was traced, coordinated, and already in place upon my arrival. I was even pre-briefed on which courier to choose — a level of foresight that truly made the difference and demonstrated outstanding professionalism.

Overall, a great hotel with over 100 years of history, a true winner in a fantastic location. I will definitely be back. 👍👍👍

Perfect hotel especially for Christmas market
Pros:

It is part of Amex Fine hotel so it is an upscale hotel. Spacious room and very nice furnishing. Location is super good especially if you want to be near a Christmas market. Service was excellent. Breakfast was great. I cannot find anything bad with this hotel.

Old Hotel
Pros:

The Steigenberger has several positives - a beautiful old building, spacious rooms, in a great location - but also many negatives. We needed connecting rooms to accommodate our children, and we were informed that only the older, un-renovated rooms were connecting. The updated rooms only were adjoining.

Older furniture and furnishings aren’t that much of a negative in my mind. It was the attention to detail of housekeeping and maintenance that made our stay less than great. Between our 2 rooms, we only had 1 bathrobe. We wanted to wear them to the spa, but couldn’t. Between our 2 rooms, we only had 1 “do not disturb” sign, something we needed for both rooms since we had stayed out late for New Year’s Eve. Neither room had a working tablet to see the room service menu or to order. Both rooms ran out of toilet paper after our second night and we didn’t go crazy on our usage. It was just one frustration after another and will prevent us from staying there again.

Will never stay there again
Pros:

The room was lovely and the visit started off just fine until the window in the bedroom would not close after being opened. After calling the front desk and notifying them of the issue they sent someone up to try to fix the window but they could not get it to close. I know these things can happen but what was most infuriating was the fact I was accused of breaking the window lock and being told I was not supposed to open the window. Nowhere on the window or near it was there a notice advising not to open the window. We ended up being moved to a different room because the window could not be kept closed as the weather was very cold and windy. There are plenty of other options in Frankfurt and I will never stay at this hotel again.

Not a great experience
Pros:

Not a great experience, arrived Christmas and everything was closed in the area so tried to eat at hotel and they were booked and didnt accommodate a table. The room iPad was broken when we arrived so we asked to fix and they said they would be back with replacement and never came back. Therefore at Christmas dinner with limited room service menu. Asked for additional blanket and was told that housekeeping was gone for Christmas so they would try and find a blanket and never did. We were going to come back again next week since this was a lay over destination and decided to cancel and book another hotel.

Overall a disappointing stay and would not go back
Pros:

yes, the building is lovely however there are several 'but's'. There is disparity between the rooms, some are much bigger than others but the same price; the rooms are way overheated, too hot for a comfortable night I ended up opening the window, but was then woken really early by the noise from all the massive building works on the opposite side of the street. The bathroom itself was clean but the ledge on the shower panel over the bath was black with mould, so neither shower nor bath were used. Although we had thought breakfast was included, it wasn't, and was expensive. The plates for hot food were heavy and cold, what should have been the cooked breakfast options were barely lukewarm and looked like they had been out for some time as becoming 'shrivelled' and did not look appetising at all. Tea not easy to find, and milk even less easy to find, I had to ask 2 staff for assitance and they weren't particulary friendly or helpful.

Needs improvement
Pros:

Great atmosphere, perfect location, friendly and professional staff. BUT very difficult to operate remote control. My husband and I have at least 10 years of college between us could not get the volume up, shower is no up to the 5 stars standard. No shampoo., but shower gel and conditioner…. Hmmm I thought shampoo and shower gel are two different things

A lovely hotel!
Pros:

We recently spent two nights at the Steigenberger Icon Frankfurter Hof. We had booked a “Grand Deluxe Room”, which we found to be very comfortable, clean, quiet, and spacious with a large and beautiful marble bathroom. The included breakfast was very good. The hotel’s location was ideal for exploring Frankfurt’s Christmas Markets. We would happily stay here again!

Exceptional hotel - 5*
Pros:

Just got home from a two night stay at the Frankfurter Hof and it was exceptional. We were upgraded to one of their largest suites and it was among the best hotel rooms I’ve ever stayed in. The hotel had very high ceilings which make you feel like you have so much space, and then this particular suite did have tons of square footage as well and was very thoughtfully designed. I loved the Acqua Di Parma products and the touch button controls on the rainwater shower. Our bedroom overlooked the Christmas tree outside which was an amazing touch. We also enjoyed the piano player in the lobby.

We had dinner at Oscar’s one night. The schnitzel was excellent. 12.50 for a 1L bottle of water is excessive (my wife asked for sparkling, they brought still, we didn’t complain about it). But that’s my only gripe of the stay.

Breakfast buffet has eggs cooked to order and some delicious croissants.

Service was great as well. Check in staff and concierge couldn’t have been nicer. We’ll be back again in the coming years.

Needs training, before being a 5 star superior.
Pros:

No more!

A central position, a room with great spaces. But, when you (try to) have any service the answer is "no".

We have been there for a weekend from saturday to monday, attracted by this "5 star superior" hotel. We had a good checkin experience, we were suitable for a room upgrade included within the reservation package but there were no availability, that was ok. Rooms are large, vintage style. I personally do not appreciate shower within the bath tub, but this is a personal thought.

We asked for a harder pillow and the service was perfect: they provided us a choice and the chosen pillow was ready for the night.

In the evening of saturday we took a drink at the hotel's bar, a very pleasant and elegant place; we sit at the bar counter, we love this position. Unfortunately, we had just one drink because the barmans started to bicker in front of us so we decided to move to the room.

Sleeping have been a really good experience: the room was silent and comfortable.

The second day started with breakfast. The breakfast is lascivous, and we appreciated a lot! Unfortunately, there were the egg's conrer chef - italian, like us - that was continously (at least, 20 minutes) complaining about her work, her collegues and so on. Even in our Language - we understood everything: defintely, toxic and anxiety experience for us and this is the first thing is very far away from a 5 star hotel.

The second day was sunday and, from the experience from the last night, we decided to reserve a table at the bar at 9pm. From the room tablet - great tool! - this was not possible and the advice was to call the reception. For me, impossible! Trying with the room telephone I was not be able to call the reception, unless the direct button: there was a message but only in german, for me not understandable. No problem: going out for dinner, I asked the reception to reserve a table but the bar was closed (on sunday in a 5StarSuperior Hotel?). We tried at the restaurant and the maitre was very kind, he found a table for us in 20 minutes, unless the congestion. Thank you!

After we spent a good evening after dinner, we back into the room. It has been rearranged perfectly and everything was pleasant. Unfortunately, my partner found a big piece of sharp glass in front of the bed. This is something far, far, far away from our expectations we left the message attached in picture, ready to tell at checkout.

The last day, monday: we had breakfast, the desk lady was kind and welcomed us with a 5star "good Morning". The experience has been broken by the egg's chef lady, unfortunately: she was complaining today too: oh my gosh, again.

Latest experience, check-out: "Everything ok?" asked us at the reception. My answer "Not so much, sorry". No other answers: the checkout just proceed with payment. In a 5 star superior hotel I expected just a "sorry, why?". No, this did not happen.

Central and strategic hotel. No more. Train your staff, please.

Snooty and uncaring - Meant for only rich snobs
Pros:

Steigenberger Icon Frankfurter Hof is a snooty and uncaring hotel. When we checked into our prepaid booking, they told us that their "booking partner" made a mistake and they will charge me 462 Euros more. When I refused, they did not honor the reservation with THEIR booking partner, agoda.com, who still lists their hotel on their booking site.

I don't know if this is poor European customer service, but a better resolution would have been to provide the customer with a discounted booking option and not embarrass them for underpaying (apparently agoda.com only paid 8 Euros to this hotel. Ha!) and resolve the issue with their own booking partner.

The person who claimed to be the check-in staff "manager" informed me that they will have the booking partner (agoda.com) revert the transaction and issue a full refund. That has not happened yet either. So, yeah, customer service for their own booking issues was poor.

Mixed experience in downtown Frankfurt
Pros:

Grand old luxury hotel in a perfect location in central Frankfurt. Spacious, tastefully furnished rooms with all the amenities one would expect. Great bathroom and shower.
However, be very careful if you wish to amend a booking. They will charge unfairly for upgrades and so on. Don't make a non-refundable booking if you are not 100% sure of your arrangements.
46 euros for breakfast with no other option also led us to walking to nearby coffee shops both mornings we stayed here.

Disaster!
Pros:

Disaster! None of the staff answering the phone, neither reception, concierge etc. And never called back. Rooms are dirty and smelly. Staff showed 0 empathy to any issue u asked for. The answer was No straight from the beginning. We used to stay at this hotel for more than 15 years now, all of our family members. Never coming back.

Not Worth it
Pros:

This hotel fails on so many levels. However, it does have some positive points which I will also mention. First, our flight was cancelled, so we were delayed by a day. I tried several times to call the hotel, but there was never an answer. I finally emailed and asked if the reservation could be moved forward one day and that was confirmed. Second, I did not realize that you have to ask for turndown service. They only put two bath towels in your room, so if you need another bath towel at night, you have to ask for it. The room was dreadfully hot when we checked in. The bellman instructed us to turn the antiquated dial to the blue cool. We did that and the room never cooled down. So we requested that maintenance see if they could fix it. Two maintenance men came and confirmed the a/c was working. The next morning, after spending a sleepless, sweaty night - we again inquired and were told that there is no ability to cool the room as the heat was on. Our only option given was that they would put a fan in our room and open the window. Even with the fan, the room lingered between 78 - 80 degrees which was unbearable for sleeping. The other issue was the turn down service - when we found out that only suites get turndown service unless other rooms request - we requested it. Of five nights - we only got turndown service twice. In addition, my request to please have more than two towels in the room was ignored and every day, I had to call. While the bath amenities are lovely, the bottles were close to empty upon check in and we had to ask that they be filled. Plus, there was no hair conditioner and we had to ask for that. The amenity kits were all dented in our room upon check in and the single towel above the bidet looked like it was still damp. After the first day, it was replaced by two other different looking towels. Upon check out, I let the clerk know that we had notified the hotel prior to check in that our flight had been cancelled - there was absolutely zero customer service - but a flat stern no - not the hotel's fault -and we would be charged for the room, even though that was not the understanding prior to check in. On a positive note - the spa was lovely, the massage was excellent. The breakfast buffet is very good. But of all the employees who stood out and is representative of a true five star hotel (which this hotel is not) - and that was our waiter in Oscars - I believe his name was Herr E. Edward. We did not have a reservation at Oscars and wanted to have a drink in the bar first. He was kind and said - no problem, he would save us a special table - which he did. His service was impeccable and he went above and beyond. He should be commended for his excellent level of care to the guest. In closing, I would say that this hotel is resting on its historical laurels and could take some hints from luxury brands who know how to truly offer a five star hotel service to its patrons.
