Great hotel but no lounge to relax in, breakfast over priced but very nice and lovely staff, apart from the very rude Eastern European lady on reception when we was checking out.
My experience at the Hay-Adams was truly unforgettable. I planned my proposal here in December, and everything went smoothly from start to finish.
We started the afternoon with high tea, which was excellent. The tea service was beautiful, the food was outstanding, and the atmosphere was relaxed and elegant. The staff were welcoming and attentive without being overbearing, which made it feel special right away.
I worked with Chelsea Hartley ahead of time to plan the proposal, and she was incredible throughout the process. She was thoughtful, responsive, and made everything easy. Chelsea even came up with a clever excuse to get us up to the rooftop that did not give away that anything special was happening, which I really appreciated.
Once we were upstairs, she guided us to the spot she had set up, and everything came together just as planned. The setting was private and beautiful, and I was able to propose without any issues. I had also worked with Chelsea beforehand to choose a rosé that my fiancée loves, and that small detail meant a lot to us.
Thanks to Chelsea and the team at the Hay-Adams, the proposal went perfectly. It was an incredibly special and memorable moment, and I am very grateful to everyone who helped make it happen. I would absolutely recommend the Hay-Adams to anyone planning a special occasion!
Wonderful location. Rooms 604,704,804 are an excellent view of the White House. On The Record Bar is a classic and must visit
Glamorous hotel with chic decoration. Ideal for both leisure or business stays. Walkable area, great restaurant & bar
You will not find a better hotel in Washington, DC. The history of this hotel is amazing, but the staff is what sets this hotel apart. I spend a lot of time in DC for business, and the Hay Adams is now my hotel EVERYTIME I go to DC.
FRANZISKA! The elegant rooms, supreme location, and scrumptious food all fade in comparison to the impeccable service. From Alfredo who introduced us to the hotel to Brian the concierge that booked our delightful night Monuments tour to the Queen Franziska, this hospitality team is the Dream Team! When we did not make our group transportation, Franziska sprang into action: checked our bags and got us on our way in the house car. I am sad to check out of this heavenly hotel, but I know I will return!!
The entire staff at this hotel is superior to any hotel I have been a guest at in the world! The property is perfectly located and the Lafayette is an amazing restaurant for breakfast meetings or a romantic dinner. The hotel lounge is world famous “Off The Record” and serves a quality cocktail with a smile.
tout
rien la vérité tout etait bien
The staff at The Hay Adams is fabulous. They are all very attentive, accommodating, friendly, I could go on and on. Will definitely be back.
Wanted a special hotel experience for my wife's 60th birthday. We were not disappointed and the hay Adams exceeded our expectations
I can't say enough about the Hay Adams. If I win the lottery, I will move into their nicest suite and die a very happy person, living there for the rest of my life. I absolutely love this hotel! It connects me to nostalgia, to a time when people cared, to a staff that treats you like family, and to cuisine that is absolute perfection.
I recently visited The Hay-Adams, located across from the White House, and had a disappointing experience that I feel compelled to share.
Upon entering the lobby, I was looking for the restroom. Both doormen looked at me as if I didn’t belong there and didn’t offer any assistance. When I asked politely, “Could you please guide me to the ladies’ room?” one of them replied, “We don’t have one.” Thinking it might be a wording issue, I rephrased my question and said “restroom” instead. He repeated, “We don’t have,” and then added, “We have, but only for guests.”
I was honestly shocked. I don’t know in which era this mindset belongs, but being treated this way at a hotel that calls itself luxury is unacceptable. I’m currently staying at another five-star property just 15 minutes away, and when I later entered a different luxury hotel to use their restroom, I was met with genuine hospitality and kindness — the kind of treatment that defines true luxury.
As a hotelier myself and an avid traveler, I’ve stayed at and visited properties around the world. I’ve never experienced such an unwelcoming attitude. Hospitality is not just about grand décor or a famous address — it’s about how you treat people. Luxury starts with respect, and sadly, this experience was far from it.
The accommodations, the restaurant, and the location were once again still the best in a city with many excellent venues, but The Hay-Adams continues to be our favorite!
Beautiful hotel with exceptional service. Staff is gracious and welcoming. It is a pleasure staying there when traveling to DC.
We came here and a lot of the food was I bit overpriced like $10 for a coffee and everything in the minibar was way overpriced.
And not all the food taste good.
My 4 days at the Hay Adams were perfect. I love the dining room and the wait staff are truly there to provide 5 star service. The food was excellent and everyone was willing to go the extra mile to make sure my stay was perfect. I will definitely go back.
Once again, an EXCEPTIONAL stay at the Hay-Adams in Washington DC.
From arrival to departure, the experience is exactly what you would expect from a 5-Star property. However, it is not ONLY what you would expect - it EXCEEDS MY EXPECTATIONS! Thank you.
Nice staff
It is great to feel welcomed when you arrive and this hotel certainly does that. The location is central to everything and having a view of the White House certainly helps.
