I liked the convenience of being at the convention center
I paid extra for early check in. $30 to check in at noon. The line to check in had over 50 people in front of me. It took two hours for me to reach the front desk to
be told that they overbooked the hotel and should not have given early check in to guests. Frustrating!
Four elevators on the West tower. Took on average 15 minutes to get in to an elevator. How can a hotel attached to a convention center not be able to handle massive crowds?
Overall the location is great, attached directly to the convention center and Providence Mall.
Though I had requested an early check‑in for 2:00 PM (normal check‑in being 4:00 PM), I arrived to find an extremely long line at reception that took over two hours to get through. Despite many guests having early check‑in requests, these were largely not honored, and even those whose rooms were ready were still required to wait in the same line that wrapped around the entrance.
During this time, there was no communication from management—including from the manager on duty, Carmine Rondelli (apologies if the spelling is incorrect). No updates were provided about the cause of the delay, no estimated wait times were given, and no system was put in place to take guests’ names or phone numbers so that they could step away and return when it was their turn. The lack of organization made the situation even more frustrating.
When I finally reached the front desk, the receptionist was friendly but the check‑in process itself took nearly 20 minutes. She offered a complimentary continental breakfast delivery as a gesture of recovery, which I appreciated—however, it never arrived the next morning. I called the front desk twice to inquire about the status and received no resolution. Upon checkout, I was given a generic apology that did not feel sincere or reflective of the multiple issues I had encountered.
Overall, the combination of long waits, lack of communication, slow check‑in, and an unfulfilled service recovery offer made for a very disappointing experience. For a hotel directly connected to a convention center—and therefore accustomed to high‑volume group arrivals—I expected a far more prepared and organized approach.
Clean
Room service never answered
We tried all day
Neither did front desk
Rooms are extremely clean and modern. Beds are comfortable - as were the pillows. Bathroom stocked with premium lotions/soaps. 45" TV, desk, refrigerator, room safe, large closet - all perfect additions to the room.
The only thing that sort of ruined my trip was the WiFi....it seems almost unbelievable that guests are charged to have WiFi. The hotel charged $9.95 per day for basic service - $19.95 per day for "premium" service. Joining their Select Guest program allowed you free basic service. That basic service felt like AOL dialup days. I was on a cruise the week before and that WiFi service was lightning speed compared to the hotel. Quite often the service would cycle and even drop. While I was there, I did need to stay connected with work, but even sending emails with a 1 MB attachment caused the mail to sit in my outbox for hours. Unacceptable.
All the ammenties
Nothing
Overall, a wonderful experience. The Omni has the feel of some of the grand old hotels, with modern conveniences and a really exceptional staff.
Little amenities like a bathrobe in the room, large and airy spaces, and in my case a phenomenal view of the Capitol (be sure to ask for that side!) make it feel like a pretty luxy experience, for a reasonable price.
A few items here and there feel a little dated and in need of upgrading, but I may have been watching too many hotel reality shows so take that with a grain of salt.
I was not as impressed with Fleur as I wanted to be, although the drinks were phenomenal (at the very least check out the bar), and the chef accommodated my special dietary requests without complaint.
The coffee shop was super, with great baristas and really good coffee, for a hotel coffee shop.
You'll have to pay for wifi (in levels of bandwidth no less), so be aware.
That said, I'd definitely stay again.
We enjoyed everything about our trip! The staff is amazing and even surprised my daughter with a happy birthday cake in our room. We shopped a lot in 2 days and they even stored our luggage after checking out so we could shop more. We usually stay here once a year but we will be returning more frequently now.
The free drink tickets, the complimentary wine to my hotel room! The big room for an affordable price!
Our room temperature would not turn on so I could not adjust it, and our fridge spoiled my birthday cake and leftover food.
