Proceed with caution if you stay here - NOT 5 STARS
Pros:

Prior to arrival, I booked a suite so my family and I could stay in the same room. Upon arrival, we were placed in the Royal Suite - sounded amazing. Unfortunately, the room smelled like absolute sewage. The hotel claimed it was because the room had been closed up for a while. We opened every door and window, including the door to the hallway and windows in the hallway. We left for a while so they could fix the problem emanating from the bathroom. Upon return, they claimed to have come and fixed the problem but they only severely deodorized. They did end up moving us to two separate rooms. Later, I learned it is common for this hotel to have sewage smell and hallway outside this room ALWAYS smelled like sewage - so they knew they were placing my family in a room with a problem. At no time did the offer to extend any nicety to us (like a complimentary glass of wine or a comp for breakfast or even seemingly adjust the rate for our room) for having to sit in sewage stench and move rooms to a type we did not want to be in. The hotel location was also sub-optimal, with people congregating and drinking heavily on the street outside of the hotel - esp at night. Also, one evening a man with a beat up face was excessively drunk and screaming in the area right outside the hotel. Even ambulance workers were afraid to deal with him - he eventually left when someone gave him a cigarette. I would not consider our experience to be a 5 star experience with a focus on hospitality from start to finish at this hotel. They never once really apologized for knowingly putting us in a room that smelled like open sewage. I would not recommend this hotel and would not say it was a 5 star experience in any fashion.

Pros:

Best hotel we have stayed at, anywhere! Excellent location, outside of the busy tourist hotspots. Comfortable bed, great views from the balcony, amazing breakfast, very friendly and helpful staff. 100% recommend and well worth the price

Hotel incrível. O quarto é maravilhoso, amplo, sempre impecavelmente limpo, com roupa de cama e banho de muito boa qualidade.

O staff é atencioso, profissional. Supera com tranquilidade as expectativas e se mostram dispostos a ajudar o hóspede sempre que necessário.

A localização é boa. Nos deslocamos principalmente a pé em razão da boa localização.

Em resumo: tivemos uma excelente estadia e adoramos o serviço de hospitalidade. Fernando Pane e seu time fazem um trabalho excepcional.

A really bad experience at Sina villa Medici, Florence
Pros:

My friends and I, a group of four, booked two Junior Suites for three nights in a five star hotel, Florence 「Sina villa Medici」, through a Taiwanese travel agency, for a total of six nights.
We booked Junior suites because we wanted to be comfortable.
However, after we had dinner together, when my friends went into their room, they noticed an unpleasant smell. Since it was late, they opened the windows and turned the air conditioning in the living room on full blast for the night.
The next morning, our friends told us that there was a wooden plank nailed to the floor of their bathroom. They found it strange that such a room would be given to guests, but we continued our itinerary and did not change rooms.
The serious problem occurred on the third night. We returned to our room very late from our trip. Unexpectedly, the cleaning lady had closed the windows and turned off the air conditioning in our friend's room. As a result, the entire room was filled with the stench emanating from the bathroom's septic pipes. Our friend had no choice but to open the window and bring all the luggage inside. He spent the night feeling extremely angry.
Although our travel agency in Taiwan helped negotiate several times, the hotel remained adamant, only willing to refund the travel member points rather than the full amount. This was a disastrous experience for us, and I strongly advise everyone to never stay at this hotel again.
