Staff are exceptional
Pros:

The staff absolutely made this hotel! From the moment we arrived until the moment we left they were all so friendly, helpful and polite. I would like to give a special thank you to Claudia from the Netherlands. Every day she greeted us with a smile and was so helpful and genuinely friendly. Upon arrival we realised our room did not have a walk in shower and my mum has mobility issues. She quickly arranged a different room for us. All staff including bell men and concierge were great. Helping us with bags and anything we needed. We didn’t eat at the hotel at all but enjoyed our stay. I even got to use an e bike for free. The only downside to our stay as some others have mentioned was the smell of drains in our bathroom. They did try and fix the problem but a day later the smell was back. We have heard this is common in Florence.

Romantic stay for anniversary
Pros:

We LOVED our stay here. Travelled here for our anniversary- staff made a point to congratulate us and made us feel special and welcome. Concierge goes above and beyond; we asked how we can get timed entry to Academia museum and he picked up the phone and called the museum for us! It has such wonderful staff and facilities too; the spa with sauna is free for guests. And definitely go for the rate including breakfast; it was delicious and staff making cappuccino to order cqn get addictive. Hope you get a chance to stay here!

Proceed with caution if you stay here - NOT 5 STARS
Pros:

Prior to arrival, I booked a suite so my family and I could stay in the same room. Upon arrival, we were placed in the Royal Suite - sounded amazing. Unfortunately, the room smelled like absolute sewage. The hotel claimed it was because the room had been closed up for a while. We opened every door and window, including the door to the hallway and windows in the hallway. We left for a while so they could fix the problem emanating from the bathroom. Upon return, they claimed to have come and fixed the problem but they only severely deodorized. They did end up moving us to two separate rooms. Later, I learned it is common for this hotel to have sewage smell and hallway outside this room ALWAYS smelled like sewage - so they knew they were placing my family in a room with a problem. At no time did the offer to extend any nicety to us (like a complimentary glass of wine or a comp for breakfast or even seemingly adjust the rate for our room) for having to sit in sewage stench and move rooms to a type we did not want to be in. The hotel location was also sub-optimal, with people congregating and drinking heavily on the street outside of the hotel - esp at night. Also, one evening a man with a beat up face was excessively drunk and screaming in the area right outside the hotel. Even ambulance workers were afraid to deal with him - he eventually left when someone gave him a cigarette. I would not consider our experience to be a 5 star experience with a focus on hospitality from start to finish at this hotel. They never once really apologized for knowingly putting us in a room that smelled like open sewage. I would not recommend this hotel and would not say it was a 5 star experience in any fashion.

Pros:

Best hotel we have stayed at, anywhere! Excellent location, outside of the busy tourist hotspots. Comfortable bed, great views from the balcony, amazing breakfast, very friendly and helpful staff. 100% recommend and well worth the price
