False advertisement, not eco adult resort
Pros:

Methane gas from washroom 2 days before they finally gave us another room, unbelievable smell- partner with severe headaches. (finally they admitted they had a broken pipe). No hot water in second room. Loud blaring disco music daily from 2-630pm -everyone left the beach. Repeatedly asked to turn down blaring beach music, told yes nothing changed. Any food or beverage brought onto the property or used that belongs to the hotel YOU ARE CHARGED FOR -EVEN THE COFFEE IN THE ROOM. Children on the small beach at the restaurant- perhaps they are confused as to adult only resort?, waited 2 hours for the boat in the dark to pick us up repeatedly informed coming. 2nd time again told they were coming to pick us up waited 130min. Beautiful surroundings, but the female manager does not speak English and is not helpful. Stayed 5 nights and tried to leave -non refundable. Room drapery truly disgusting, in 2 of the rooms, sticky and mildew? larva cocoons?
On the positive side some staff amazing. View is beautiful if you can sit outside or on the little beach -music too loud had to go to other beaches. I am sure you can find a better place for the price charged.
Requested a quiet room -lol, wanted to relax -leaving more stressed then when arrived. Need to climb a small ladder to get into the water taxi to leave hotel. Very few people so not sure why its so hard to provide better service.
Folks this is NOT a relaxing adult only resort, its overpriced for what is offered and management is unhelpful-offered complimentary dinner due to smell in room. As I write this now music in the restaurant, disco on the beach and restaurant music- in a very very small space right next to all the rooms.

Bad Management
Pros:

There is no manager on site and zero customer service for problems you have at the hotel. We were told we would have access to a boat after 9pm to go to a nearby island. We only booked a place to go to this island and we paid for their premium cabana. But when we got there they told us we would have to pay $100 for a 5 minute boat ride that usually costs $5. When we called the same manager she said basically it was our problem. The customer service was beyond horrible. We stayed 2 nights and they didn't even clean our rooms, but they did try to tack on lots of "extras" onto our final bill.

What a disaster, avoid by all means
Pros:

To start with the positive thing, the location is very nice. That’s it.

1. When we arrived at 14:30, we were told that we have to take lunch, as check-in
time is 15:00, despite the fact that the room was ready.
2. Upon check-in, one gets instructions that are similar to the ones of a military camp.
Absolutely no welcome feeling, rather hostile approach.
3. The very small room is an expression of many huge design failures:
- only one weak light in the entire room. Graveyards have better lights.
- not a single wardrobe, not a single hanger, no place to put anything
- no shower, no safe, a bath-tube in the middle of the room
4. The room is filled with 12 pillows, 8 of them useless, all in the bed.
Why would a sane person put 12 pillows in one small room?
And why do they put them back in the bed every day?
5. Excessively loud music coming all day from the restaurant, especially late night, when the restaurant was empty.
Maybe a provocation, on purpose, of guests that went to bed early.
Or a favor to drunken guests sitting on the beach.
DJ‘s with heavy loud music destroy any nice ambience one would want for dinner.
Who wants to dine in a night club?
6. Drunken guests start their own loud sound machine in the morning next to sober guests,
who have no choice but to listen to music they don‘t want to hear.
7. Of all the wines in the wine list, only the most expensive were available
8. Extremely slow response time during reservation process, responses took +2 days.
9. They only serve imported water (still or sparkling), from Italy and France.
What an environmental damage. But probably better margins.

The Best of Everything
Pros:

Hotelito Mio is the perfect mix of a intimate beach getaway, classic Puerto Vallarta hospitality, with a rustic sophistication. The staff (Roberto, Eric, and Ivan) took care of everything with the upmost in quality service. The food abs drinks were top notch. The rooms all had beautiful views and cool AC, if you got tired of the fresh ocean breeze.

Pure Magic--Like a Honeymoon Vacation!
Pros:

Wow, I don't even know where to begin. This was the most romantic, amazing hotel my wife have EVER stayed in and we travel a lot. We flew into PV and the hotel arranged a taxi to boca, where a panga was waiting for us. Abbey was our panga driver whenever he needed us (for an extra fee) and he was great. Once we got to playa caballo, they took our luggage and we walked from las animas to the hotel where we met Juan Carlos, the fantastic Manager. They greeted us with cocktails and we checked into our amazing jungle villa. The rooms are complete with AC and a beautiful claw foot tub. The restaurant sits on the sand. We truly felt like we were in a movie. At one point, we were the only guests there along with an actress who was also seeking solitute. This is a perfect vacation to sneak away. It is adults only and was extremely romantic. The entire staff, Pepe, Juan Carlos, and I feel bad becasue I can't remember our other amazing server...but they were so attentive and wonderful. Our champagne glasses were never empty. This is not an all inclusive resort but it is so so much better than staying at one of the big ones in town. Be aware that you do hear roosters and dogs barking at night so bring earplugs. Please do yourself a favor and book this hotel. We will definitely be coming back.

Nice secluded and excellent food
Pros:

You can hike there or you can take a boat there. This is a very nice secluded hotel away from the Puerto Vallarta bustle. Nice rooms on a beautiful beach. They also will serve you lunch or dinner if you make prior reservations. Highly recommended.

Truly Excellent
Pros:

5 days of bliss. That’s how I would describe our experiences with Hotelito Mio. The room (small villa by the beach) was fantastic. The A/C made it perfect escape from the heat of the day. Beach was 2 meters from the door and well taken care of. Pelicans were giving us a daily show with their fishing. This place is also worth while a visit just because of the chef. He is very good and we enjoyed every meal we had. Something that does happen often in a resort. Value for money was very good. The staff was super friendly and took care of business in a highly professional manner. Oh, yes and the drinks were good too :-)

Warmly recommended to travelers who want to enjoy life a bit. We will go back.

Staff + Food + Privacy = Perfection
Pros:

This place is perfect to get away in a secluded bungalow for a few nights and enjoy the best service you'll ever have. Everyone at this place is 100% focused on making sure you have a wonderful time. They're super friendly and just so happen to know how to put together great cocktails. The kitchen staff is incredible and prepared some of the best meals we've had in a while. We ended up never leaving the property; the beach, pool, drinks and food are perfect!

Great location, sort of
Pros:

First off let me say I am not one to complain. I understand this is not the four seasons. The property and amenities are pretty faultless, however the slow service became noticable early on.
During the day this place is pretty great aside from the slow service.
However, beginning the first night we realized we we're not going to get much sleep. The location of our Villa, far south end of the resort, meant there was no jungle and not enough ocean noise to drown out the neighbors. We woke up the first morning to a rooster insisting the sun had rissen 2 hours early. I was initially willing to let that slide, as this is Mexico. However, at around 630 the neighbor gets up and blasts music as they get ready. For the price paid to stay, you would think they could work out a deal with neighbors to at least wait until the sun is up to blast music that loud.
The next night it got worse. Beginning at 1am the neighbors dogs started barking. THEY DID NOT STOP BARKING INCESSANTLY UNTIL 530.
Five and a half hours of no sleep.
Conveniently this is when the rooster decides to ensure we are up and start his duties. Then like clockwork, the neighbor blasts his music from 630 to 7.
Six hours of no sleep.
At this point I have had hours of contemplation I realize money needs to be spent on some sort of barrier to block some of the noise coming from the neighbors. This is particularly necessary for the southernmost villas, 3 of them. So when you book it will kind of be a crap shoot as to where you are in the compound.
We had better sleep at our $50 air bnb in punta mita that was an active construction site and not much more than four cinderblock walls.
We had high hopes for this place, and it has great potential, but right now for this price it is definitely not worth your time.

Terrific tiny hotel reachable only by boat
Pros:

Wonderful alternative to PV hotels. TERRIFIC service , which I emphasize because of the negative review posted on Trip Advisor. Enrique and Pepe are wonderful hosts eager to help any way they could. Food was very good - - we ate at their restaurant every day and enjoyed each meal. Suggest taking a trip to Yalapa to get off the property.

A little getaway at the charming Hotelito Mio!
Pros:

A great little hideaway, this little hotel only has 8 rooms or villas, either in the “jungle” or overlooking the ocean. The location is gorgeous, the beach is so beautiful and quite isolated. A standout here is the staff. Bepe and Kiki made the trip an exceptional one with their friendliness, their warmth and their service.

TERRIBLE SERVICE, Great Location
Pros:

Lovely hotel and ocean view TERRIBLE services.

Unfortunately our family new year’s celebration was cut short as we asked for a villa with two rooms, one double bed and one with separate beds, only to find out there is only double beds in the whole hotel.

Furthermore, we asked for an extra bed( apprently non-available), and when we requested (several times) for the couch to be preped as an extra bed we did not get an anwser. Later we were rudely told by the manager that they were NOT allowed to provide extra pillows and sheets and even got asked not to move the furniture around!

A big disappoinment for the amount of money paid and a bitter taste of a scham.

Will NOT recommend this hotel, and a bummer for this to happen on our New Years celebration.

Our own personal paradise!
Pros:

We loved our time at Hotelito Mio. The name really does say it all! It started with a super smooth airport pickup in PV, a beautiful drive along the coast to Boca de Tomatlan, and then quick little boat ride to the neighboring beach of Playa las Animas. We were escorted along the beach (yes - you will walk on the beach, the first of many glorious days with your toes in the sand) to a friendly welcome (I don't want to give away all the surprises, but it was a treat).
We stayed in one of beachfront villas. It was beautiful inside and had marvelous views. It was the one closest to the restaurant - the heart of the resort. The service from Kiki and Pepe was outstanding! They anticipated our every need and exceeded our expectations. All of the staff was so friendly - the chef, housekeeping, 'boatmen' - everyone was so friendly, happy, and helpful.
The beach is quiet and swimable - the hotel has kayaks available to play in the water. You can walk over to Las Animas and have access to all the trappings of PV beach - parasailing, jetski, banana boats, you name it. You can hike northward through the jungle/along the coast to Boca, restaurants, etc. and return to the sanctuary of Hotelito Mio for cocktails, massage, whatever your heart desires.
We loved it - thank you to everyone at Hotelito Mio for making my birthday one to remember!

Worst service ever
Pros:

I am a constant traveler around the world and this has been one of my worst trips ever! The location is very nice, the hotel is nice but way overpriced. The pictures and description in the internet are not what they say, I paid for the biggest villa because it said it had a private pool and it was like the "master suite" but not at all, it had a tiny jacuzzi where I barely fit with cold water. But the worst parte is that one day I came in late around 10pm to the hotel and my room was closed and they didn't want to give me a key, there was only one useless guard in the hotel property and he was calling the manager of the hotel and it took more than 1 hour and a half to give me my room number and at the same time my girlfriend was feeling very sick and needed her medicine that was at the room and they didn't even care. We had other 2 similar situations and we where there only for 3 days. Would never stay or recommend this hotel!

Beautiful & Peaceful - Great Staff!!
Pros:

Hotelito Mio is amazing! The villa we rented was great and we loved the location as it was right on the beach. The views from the resort are so peaceful; it’s like you are in a paradise lost away from the rest of the world!

The staff was beyond great!! KiKi, PePe and Alexis truly made us feel right at home and we very attentive to our every need. We were the only ones at the resort for a few days during our stay so Alexis (Chef) made us some of the best food, off the menu, we’ve ever had when on vacation in Mexico.

The beach is nice and private so if you are looking for an escape and want to unwind without all of the fuss of a lot of people and kids, this is the place to do it!

The taxi ride to get to the pier at Boca is an hour from the airport but the boat ride to the resort is only 5-7 minutes and it is a nice scenic ride.

The staff made it very easy to get all the bags to the boat and then to the resort; there is a little walk you must take if the waters are rough and they can’t drop you on the beach.

Thank you to KiKi & PePe for making my birthday vacation great!

Beautiful place to get away from it all and completely chill out
Pros:

After *almost* staying here at least 3 years in a row and then deciding on other properties, my husband and I finally stayed here for a week in February and I really wished I'd booked it sooner.

The hotel sits off by itself and feels like more of a private villa than a resort. It's a small place and each room has plenty of privacy so that you never really feel like other people are there with you.

We stayed din Villa San Gabriel and it was perfect. It's the A-Frame villa that sits right on the beach and next to the restaurant, which was super convenient and never noisy because the waves are so loud you can't really hear anything else. We had an amazing breeze at night and slept great.

The food and drinks at the hotel were great and the staff were very friendly and great at remembering what you like.

From the resort you can take a short walk down the beach to get to another little hotel where you can have lunch or dinner if you need a change of scenery, and you can walk all the way into Boca if you're adventurous and have a lot of energy. If you go the other direction, it's a quick walk to Las Animas where there are a few restaurants as well as a dock where you can catch water taxi's to Boca or on North to Yelapa, which I very highly recommend. Such a cute little town very different from the more commercialized areas.

If I were to give any constructive criticism to the manages of Mio it would be to make sure that the bed and bathroom linens are thrown out when they get torn or stained, as we had quite a few items with some sort of rust stains on them and a few holes. At any hotel this is not acceptable. The only other thing is that their website should properly explain what's entailed in getting to the hotel from the dock in Las Animas, as it is a bit of a wobbly walk and would not be ideal for anyone with any mobility issues.

Other than that, I have nothing to complain about. Our stay was relaxing and everything was gorgeous.

We would highly recommend this hotel.

Gorgeous weekend escape
Pros:

I was on a business trip and took the opportunity to have a luxury weekend just outside of Puerto Vallarta. The hotel is about 50 minutes from the airport and sits in the rocky hillside right by the coast with beautiful views of the ocean and private beach. It’s calm, cannot be accessed by car so you need to go in a little motorised boat there and back, then walk down a sandy beach and up to the hotel along a cobbled path. But what awaited me was just delightful. I had a villa with ocean and jungle views, a big sleigh bed that faced the windows that I had open all the time and listened to the sea crushing on to the beach all night. The bath was an old bath that stood independent in the room. The only thing missing in the room was a wardrobe or somewhere to hang clothes.

The welcome from Enrique was perfect - and with a welcoming cocktail. He really wants everyone to have a great time and was the perfect host throughout.

The restaurant was lovely - all open air and you can sit right by the waterline or in a wooden covered area by the bar. Good food - mix of a Mexican and other, and good wine list. The service was Pepe was great.

I had a massage on the Saturday morning in a detached massage tent with the waves crashing on the beach behind me. I had the 90 minute signature massage which was fabulous.

Whilst the hotel lends itself to couples I felt quite at home being there on my own and would definitely go back.

Hotelito Mio: my little hotel that I can’t wait to visit again!
Pros:

We have one night left at this extraordinary hotel and I feel compelled to write about our stay. From our arrival by boat, the 2 level cottage on the beach, falling asleep listening to the waves crash, amazing dinner and drinks, in room massages.... we have loved every moment. Kiki and Pepe are phenomenal. We have felt so welcome and taken care of by them both. They make an already fantastic stay even better. We can’t wait to come back. Hotelito Mio is an absolute delight!

Paradise!!!!!!!
Pros:

Wife and I decided on a last minute vacation/getaway from LA craziness and never could have imagined how amazing this place is. The rooms, grounds, service, location, ocean water, food and pool were all just absolutely perfect. Mauricio the Manager was so nice and on top of anything we needed, Enrique and Pepe the Bartenders and Servers and everything else they accommodate us with were top class and great people. Arturo the Chef is very talented and makes the best Breakfast, Lunch and Dinner....WOW!!!! We will be back, and we will bring friends as well. Such and amazing and relaxing place, I wouldn't have asked for more than what they gave us. Thank you all! Oh and the owners have the most amazing taste and eye for decor, great furniture, lounge chairs and tables (didn't meet them but wish to one day).
