We loved everything. The staff was amazing and super helpful. The food was amazing. The location was perfect. We had a wonderful time.
Can't think of a th8ng we did not like.
I have stayed at Omni Royal Orleans for many years as part of my work travel, which makes this recent experience especially disappointing.
Unfortunately, this stay fell well below the standard I had come to expect. The arrival experience was unwelcoming, and we were not informed about amenities associated with our membership. The pool was under construction and the spa was closed, with little communication about alternatives. The valet pricing was difficult to read and significantly higher than my previous visit, which was an unwelcome surprise.
Our room had a nice view, but the layout was awkward, the furniture was worn, and the chest of drawers was unusable. The room was freezing cold, the heating issue was never resolved, and hot water was shut off without warning. As a result, we were unable to sleep comfortably.
The renovations felt piecemeal and unattractive, and the overall atmosphere seemed strained. After many years of loyalty to this property, this stay has unfortunately caused me to reconsider returning.
Front desk receptionist on 2/15 was friendly whatsoever. We were greeted with disdain, like we weren’t welcome. We also weren’t given our appropriate benefits as an Omni member, nor were we given the correct room we paid for. We were given a smaller room, not as advertised. Although the location in the FQ is ideal, the greet staff would keep us away from here.
Location was amazing. Concierge was very helpful in assisting us to navigate our way around and organise tours.
We stayed 2 nights, but our room didn't get serviced the second day.
Went downstairs for breakfast, but the service was not the best.
The location in the French Quarter. That about covers the "likes".
When we arrived in New Orleans, it was before check-in, and we were told we would receive a text message when our room was ready. That seemed perfectly reasonable, and we spent the afternoon in the French Quarter. Unfortunately, no text was ever sent, and we later had to return to the hotel ourselves to ask about the room, only to be told it had already been ready.
When we entered the room, it was extremely hot. Although the thermostat was set to 67 degrees, it was clear that it was not functioning properly. Since we were only stopping in briefly before dinner, we reported the issue to the front desk on our way out. The representative told us this was a common problem and assured us it would be fixed before we returned that evening.
After a very enjoyable night in the French Quarter, we came back to the hotel around midnight expecting the issue to have been resolved. Instead, the room was still uncomfortably hot, and the thermostat had clearly not been addressed. At that point, after a full day of travel and activities, we were exhausted. Having already reported the problem once and received no follow-through, we decided not to spend more time dealing with the front desk again at midnight.
As a result, we endured one of the worst nights of sleep we have ever had in any hotel. What is most frustrating is not just the room issue itself, but the complete lack of follow-through after we reported it and were assured it would be handled.
The accommodations and level of service we experienced at the Omni Royal Orleans were far below what we would expect from any hotel, let alone one marketed as a premium property. You can put all the marble you like in the atrium of this hotel, it will never make up for poor accommodations and lack of service.
Good location, hot water, friendly staff, and comfortable beds
Shower didn’t work(reported it but it couldn’t be fixed. $100 refund on the room given) room needs to be updated. Room needs a touch up paint job. Air vents need to be cleaned.
L’emplacement et la beauté du lieu
Le personnel a été désagréable , la chambre n’était pas très propre . C’est dommage…
The location was very good for the French quarter
The a/c system was very poor; the hotel management didn't know in which rooms if was working and which not. We alerted them to the fact that court allocated room A/C was faulty (so room far too hot) but this was not fixed s had been promised. A technical came at 10.30 at night after we had gone to bed and had to access the unit through the ceiling panel on alder. This manual intervention helped a bit. WE were moved to another room the next day, but this also had a non-functioning A/C so in the end we had to move again to a third room to get any comfort. . The bedroom and corridor decor was very old, tired and bashed about. It was also not that clean. The swimming pool was shut down (we specifically chose this hotel because it had a pool since we like too swim each day). Very expensive for the quality of hotel, even after we were given a partial credit for the A/C issue
I stayed here during peak Mardi Gras, and overall I had a really good experience. The location was amazing for everything going on, and the staff was consistently friendly and welcoming, especially the bartender and the doorman, who both stood out and really made us feel taken care of during such a busy time.
That said, there were a couple small issues. I did feel a bit like “just another tourist” at times, which I understand given how hectic Mardi Gras can be, but a little more personalized warmth would have gone a long way. We also had a few issues with the shower during our stay, which was a bit inconvenient.
Still, considering it was peak Mardi Gras and the hotel was clearly operating at full capacity, I thought they handled the crowds well. I’d absolutely consider staying again.
not a great experience. Restaurant was great, jazz club was nice but service was terrible. Got several charges reflecting on my card. I called to clarify for three consecutive days, whoever takes my call can’t even explain what’s going on with my bills. He keeps taking down my number each time saying a manager will call. I have to work things through AMEX for several hours because when Amex reaches out to them, they answer and confused us the more. Terrible!
Pros: This hotel is right in the French Quarter so if that is the experience you are looking for you are in luck. Also, the staff was amenable and helpful.
Cons: This is an older hotel that has recently gone thru/is going thru some updating and renovations. Some of these are working better than others. The bathrooms were a real sticking point. The bathroom door was very difficult to jeep closed and did not lock. The sink was a bowl sink with no counter (where do you even set a tooth brush?), and the shower had (at best) luke-warm water, even though the sink had boiling hot water in two seconds. In addition, while the room has a thermostat with controls, they did nothing. We were in town on a rare weekend of rather cold temps (down into the 40's at night) and the HVAC was still spitting out air conditioning. When we asked the front desk about it they said the HVAC was controlled by "the engineer from his room". Seriously, why bother having thermostats? It was practically freezing in the room during the last night of our stay.
For $250+ a night I would expect better. Won't recommend and wouldn't stay here again.
You cannot beat this hotel for the location. It is right on Royal Street and one block from Bourbon Street. Fortunately, it is just far enough away that you will not be kept awake by the noise from party-goers. We stayed in a deluxe, which clean, but on the smaller side with compact bathroom. We cannot rate the pool or the fitness as renovations were underway. The hot water was out one morning though they assured us that that had not happened for 2 years.
The location
The staff
The cafe is 100/10
I wish I could’ve used the pool and or the gym but it was under construction
The location was perfect for activities around the city.
None of the amenities weee available for use. No breakfast no gym no pool
Check-in felt less like an arrival and more like a test of endurance. At 11:30 a.m. I was confidently assured the room was ready, only for the key system to expose that it absolutely was not. Apologies were paired with a drink ticket, as if a cocktail could substitute for a functioning reservation. I left for lunch, received a 1:00 p.m. text declaring the room ready, returned promptly, and was met with, “I don’t know who sent you that,” and another delay. An additional promise of “just one more hour” turned into yet another text 30 minutes later. Only then, after a full afternoon of circular messaging and shifting stories, was I finally allowed into the room.
The property itself feels frozen in time, and not in a charming, historic way. The hallways and carpets are visibly soiled and worn, giving the entire building an air of long-deferred maintenance and neglect. Accessibility is not merely an afterthought, it is a barrier. A flight of 10–15 stairs stands between guests and entry, and anyone unable to manage them must summon staff to deploy a ramp. For a wheelchair user, this setup is not just inconvenient, it is undignified and exclusionary.
Security is virtually nonexistent. Elevators can be accessed without a keycard, which means anyone can wander the property freely. For a hotel in a major tourist city, that is not just outdated, it is deeply concerning.
The room itself was shockingly small, closer to a broom closet than a guest room. Dust coated the surfaces. Extension cords snaked across the space in multiple places, creating obvious fire hazards. The bathroom was barely functional, with almost no usable counter space. The toilet was so poorly positioned that sitting normally was impossible, the toilet paper holder pressed against your knee, forcing you to angle your body sideways just to use it. It was not simply uncomfortable, it was absurd.
To add insult to injury, the pool and rooftop amenities were closed during one of the busiest times of the year, eliminating what little value the stay might have offered.
I come to New Orleans at least four times a year, and this was, without question, one of the most disappointing hotel experiences I have had. I will never stay at the Omni Royal again, and I have already begun steering colleagues, friends, and even locals away from it.
