A little gem in a big city
Pros:

I originally booked a different hotel for this trip and then changed to this one following a recommendation from a work colleague who had stayed here previously and I am so glad I did. Everything about this hotel was perfect. The location was excellent, close to everything we wanted to do and short walking distance to most attractions. You are literally a stones throw away from the square. The rooftop pool was a little getaway from the hot midday sun and was a lovely touch, with a small bar and comfy seating where we had a few drinks. The indoor spa and pool is also stunning which we also used. We didn't eat in the hotel which is one thing I would have liked to have done as the restaurant and overall look of the hotel is gorgeous. The staff were all lovely and helpful. We had an early flight and our room wasn't quite ready so we were allowed to use the pool while we waited and then called when our room was ready and luggage was already taken up. Madrid has become one of my favourite places I have visited and I would love to come back to this hotel in the future if I have the chance. Gracias Pestana Plaza Mayor

A perfect gift to ourselves for 5 nights!
Pros:

Excellent location, service, and the view from the rooftop pool is amazing. Air conditioning was very helpful in 100 degree temperatures.

Not exactly value for money.
Pros:

The staff were courteous. The location is ideal. The communal areas are quite nice.

Cons:

The entry-level rooms are very small, so I’d recommend upgrading if your budget allows. The bathroom size is surprisingly cramped for a five-star hotel or even four star hotel. After comparing other hotels in Madrid, I realized I could have booked a more spacious room in the Gran Vía area for a similar price. Knowing that detracted from my overall enjoyment of the stay.

First class : great staff, great location , great hotel
Pros:

Check in was great. I love places that let you check in early if rooms are available. They were super friendly. The place was first class. The breakfast was superb. I don’t realize it. It I stayed here 2 years ago when it was under a different name. It was great then and even better now. How can you get a better room than one that overlooks the plaza mayor ?
