Eilert Smith Hotel

Absolutely stunning experience, do not stay anywhere else in Stavanger. Worth the entire trip to Norway. Amazing food recommendations and delicious breakfast in room. Comfiest bed and wonderful staff.

Wonderful and luxurious boutique hotel. Starting with the beautifully restored Norwegian Functionalist (Funkis) building, to the warm, personal service and excellent in-room breakfast, this well located hotel was beyond our high expectations. The generously sized room was immaculate and extremely comfortable, with a large row of windows looking over the harbour. We wouldn’t hesitate to return again. Highly recommended for the discerning traveler. Thank you, Stina, for the tour and your kind hospitality.

This was the most incredible hotel experience I’ve ever had- honestly. I feel so lucky I was able to get one of the twelve rooms here. The friendliness, attention to detail and service were unsurpassed..Can I give more than 5 stars?? I’m definitely coming back next year! Stina made my two day stay in Stavanger my best experience so far in Norway. HIGHLY recommend.

The hotel is really well located and we had a wonderful, super spacious suite with a lovely view to the sea. The bed was really comfortable, all the furnishings and fittings very high quality and we loved the record player and selection of LPs and the complimentary mini bar.

The team at the hotel were very friendly, helpful and extremely accommodating and were always available to help with any request.

This hotel was wonderful! The service was incredible. A wonderful breakfast was served daily right to our room. The room was clean and comfortable. We had a nice talk with Hanne on the last day and she helped us with directions and recommendations.

Eilert Smith Hotel exceeded our expectations!!! This is a Luxury Boutique Hotel. They treat you like royalty right when you walk in the door. I would definitely stay there again in Stavanger. It was the best of all places we stayed in Norway. It didn’t have the most amenities or even the best views but it made up for it in service and quality of the room and everything in the room. Top class linens and towels, coffee, organic local tea, turn down service, heated towel hanger, heated toilet seat with bidet, free snacks and chocolate! I only wish the restaurant wasn’t full. Reservations required 3-4 months in advance!

jkjk (regarding the title), but those robes were amazing! honestly, everything about this hotel was amazing - from the service and staff to one of the best breakfasts i've ever had at a hotel (and that is saying a lot). if you have the opportunity to stay here, i would very highly recommend that you do

The strikingly designed Eilert Smith Hotel in downtown Stavanger is worth any travel. Close to beautiful and spectacular nature experiences like the Lysefjord and Pulpit Rock, and with the 3-star Michelin restaurant Re-naa located on 1st floor.

We are super lucky to have stayed in some wonderful hotels in the world, but Eilert Smith is absolutely up there with the best.

The attention to detail is phenomenal, the staff (all the Hanne’s!) were incredibly warm and kind and our room was heavenly. We were served the most delicious breakfast every morning from the comfort of our suite, which overlooked the harbour of Stavanger.

Little things, such as the complimentary mini bar, games for the children in the bedroom, lovely Malin and Goetz toiletries and a brilliantly easy access system to the hotel and room made for a really memorable stay.

It was POURING when we left and we would no doubt have been soaked on the way to the airport bus. As a final gesture of kindness and thoughtfulness, Hanne gave us two umbrellas - even though we wouldn’t have been able to give them back. What incredible service!

Normally a hotel is just a base for us when we are away for the weekend, somewhere to sleep and rest after exploring, but the gorgeous 12 bedroom Eilert Smith feels like the most perfect sanctuary - so much so that I’d go back to Stavanger just to spend a whole weekend in our lovely home from home!

The Eilert Smith Hotel is an absolutely exceptional property in beautiful Stavanger and was the highlight of my recent visit to Scandinavia. Hanne, the front of house supervisor, came out to greet me by name as my taxi pulled out. She and the rest of the Eilert Smith team provided exemplary service before and during my stay including securing a table at RE-NAA, booking a private hiking tour, and ensuring I could take advantage of my late check-out benefit despite the hotel being fully booked on my departure day; no request was an inconvenience. At check-in, Hanne made sure that I understood all of the benefits included with my room such as the complimentary minibar (the champagne was such a treat!) and extra skincare amenities in the bathroom. I booked a deluxe double, but was surprised and delighted to be upgraded to a superior suite with water views! The rooms have intelligent layouts with great Scandinavian design touches. The included breakfast is prepared by the RE-NAA kitchen and is delivered via room service at your preferred time each morning. Every egg dish I tried was yummy and I still dream about the local butter, strawberry jam, and warm sourdough bread. My dinner at RE-NAA was flawless, but there are many nearby restaurants for other meals. I loved the personal code key system for the main entrance and my room; it was nice to move about without a room key. The Eilert Smith is well located for exploring Stavanger and it's lovely to walk along the waterfront. I can't wait to plan another trip to Stavanger to stay at the Eilert Smith again!

The hotel was in a great location, it was beautiful and we had a fantastic view! The staff was excellent and made us feel very welcome. The beds were super comfy! We will definitely recommend and will be back to stay again.

Absolutely one of the most pleasant stays we’ve had and we have travelled extensively many places in the world for 30 years. Every staff member we came in contact with was just outstanding.

The rooms were modern, comfortable and luxurious.

The addition of Re-NAA and that incredible dining experience made it a very memorable trip for us.

We wouldn’t consider staying anywhere else in Stavanger.
