Exotic romantic nature escape par excellence!
Pros:

Looking for an exotic one of a kind escape with that special person - this is it. Our cabana was literally two steps to the lagoon in this picture (all of the cabanas are, there are all great and all have a view). Amazing hospitality and attention to detail with the warmth only El Salvadorian's provide. Lounge in a chaise in the pool three steps from your cabana with some of the best Peruvian ceviche delivered. Gents - ask for the renewly-wed (even if you aren't wed yet) package - priceless investment with off the chart dividends :-)

Paradise
Pros:

A Hidden Paradise That Redefines the Hotel Experience
Stepping into this hotel isn't just checking into a place to sleep — it's entering a carefully curated slice of paradise where nature leads the welcome, not concrete. From the moment you arrive, you're met with lush surroundings and a serene layout that feels more like a luxury eco-resort than a traditional hotel. It’s not an exaggeration to say it feels like you’re walking straight into a dream-like retreat by the sea.
Forget sterile lobbies and towering structures. Here, you’re greeted by thoughtfully placed bungalows that blend seamlessly with their tropical environment. Each bungalow is unique and romantic, offering just the right mix of privacy and proximity. Even with neighbors nearby, the peaceful design ensures your own intimate slice of serenity — enhanced by the gentle sound of ocean waves in the background.

Inside, the bungalows are well-equipped with charming details like hammocks and coolers, creating a space that invites both relaxation and functionality. Around the grounds, there are ample seating areas, a welcoming tiki bar, and clean, creative public bathrooms with sand floors — a thoughtful and hygienic touch that sets this place apart.

Let’s talk about the food — because this hotel takes it seriously. The menu is diverse, offering seafood, steak, and chicken, but if you’re a fan of seafood, this place will make your taste buds dance. The ceviches are stellar, showcasing the freshness and complexity of authentic Peruvian flavors. Each dish carries a signature touch that reflects both culinary expertise and cultural pride. Even the lomo saltado, which I tried just once, was flawlessly executed.

And the cocktails? Perfectly balanced. The bartenders here know their craft, creating drinks that hit just the right notes — no overpowering alcohol, no syrupy shortcuts, just clean, refreshing balance.

What elevates the experience even further is the staff. From housekeeping to the front desk to restaurant servers, everyone treats you like a VIP guest. The team is not just friendly — they are proactive, knowledgeable, and genuinely passionate about making your stay unforgettable. They’ll happily explain the menu in detail, recommend a drink, or simply brighten your day with a smile.

One of the best surprises? The beach feels almost untouched, even on weekends. It's quiet, clean, and open — the kind of place where you can walk for miles or simply relax without the crowds. To truly soak in the atmosphere, a stay of at least 2–3 days is essential. That’s when the magic really settles in.

Don’t miss the free breakfast, either. It’s not an afterthought. Get the desayuno típico it’s hearty, delicious, and the perfect way to start a day in paradise.

This isn’t just a hotel — it’s a full-body exhale. Whether you’re after romance, relaxation, excellent food, or exceptional service, this hidden gem delivers it all with understated elegance. Stay longer, eat well, listen to the waves — and don’t be surprised if you’re already planning your return before you leave.

So Amazing!!
Pros:

You pay for what you get. This place was private, beautiful, and had a special chef that will cook great food for you and come to your table to sit down and talk about the food. This was a wonderful experience. The property is amazing and staff were extraordinary.

Fell in Love with Tortuga Village.
Pros:

A hidden Gem, absolutely wonderful... relaxing, quiet...and super ,super friendly staff. Didn't want to leave. Pictures don't do it justice. Only negative thing is not warm water in the shower... small price to pay for peace and quiet. Food is great.... not a huge breakfast selection, but they do the best they can and it's all delicious. The Mgr is wonderful she checks in on you, the staff at the beach wonderful, Think his name was Lucio, anything you needed, they did their best to help. We did the Tour with Rutas Aquatics Molina, (excellent) Got the massage by Claudia, it was awesome... Can't wait to go back! Hope they never change. Oh and warning, there are a lot of strays that come out of nowhere, when food is around,.we personally didn't mind feeding them,... so if your not into animals...don't go... but the strays don't bother you...they just hang around... see pics.

Priced like a western style resort but none of the amenities…..
Pros:

We stayed here in July with the my immediate family and some extended members. My wife’s family is from Central America originally so I have traveled through El Salvador and Guatemala and have been to some of the best restaurants and venues these countries have to offer. At close to $300 a night the expectations were high. My thought process was if you are going to charge American prices then I expect that level of service and caliber of resort offerings. These expectations were not met and the Tortuga falls short.

Let’s start with the overview of what this place is…. It is a small strip of land with a beautiful beach on the Pacific Ocean with 8 elevated thatched roof bungalows that room various size parties. The rooms are pretty unique in the sense they are elevated on poles with an open air sitting area and hammock under them and over looking the pools. No major complaints on the rooms except the AC was not up to the job of keeping the rooms cool during the daily heat which I might add was oppressive with little escape offered in the rooms .. The manager did attempt to alleviate this by bringing us a pedestal fan which at least for one or two people was a slight reprieve .The explanation that was given was the Bungalow was in the sun and got hot during the day. ( so get a additional AC with some of the money you charged us). Otherwise no complaints on the rooms and room service.

The resort has two connected pools with one around 3 ft deep and the other one around two feet. Cute but nothing that any beach hotel in most places wouldn’t have.
The Beach however was the crown jewel with dark sand stretching a beautiful distance in both directions met by the impressive waves of the Pacific. . Very clean and very private with no hint of trash or rocks. No complaints here. The beach, bungalows and pools abutted each other so proximity was also real nice. Watch out for undertow as the waves and sea was strong.

The Bar and restaurant ( one and the same) was nothing more than a typical tiki bar with wood crates and plastic chairs abutting bar tables on the beach. No interior or modern dining. Bar and restaurant are not under the same owners so we had to pay our bar and restaurant bill each night. ( bar/ restaurant doesn’t take American Express like resort so that was a big pain in the a** as Amex is our go to card. Food was excellent and bar/ waiter service was also fantastic but again pricing was much higher than the venue should have offered . Put it this way we stayed two nights and paid around $600 for the room total ( not worth it but I could swallow that). The bill for two lunches and 1 dinner for 4 people ( limited breakfast included in the stay was over $600 !) To be transparent this also included drinks during the day but we are not crazy drinkers and also my family was four people total.

The long and short was small nice location on the Pacific with little offer besides the beautiful Pacific and some privacy( probably because nobody could afford it) but it came with a disproportionate price tag that makes justifying the plus’s of the Tortuga a difficult task.

My recommendation is find a place that better understands its locale and limitations and structures its pricing accordingly. The Tortuga is nice and quaint but unfortunately is like putting a coat of paint on late model Ford ( no offense Ford owners just an example :-) ) and calling it Porsche with a price tag to match the delusion.

I understand the limitations of Central American hotels and resorts usually make them fall short of the expectations and hype but usually that is forgiven by their pricing. The Tortuga is a case of overinflated self value in reference to their pricing and offering. It they want to play in the big leagues and attract more tourists especially tourist outside the region then they better step up their game substantially or get their pricing in line with what the area offers.

The best of Costa del Sol
Pros:

I brought a group from the US to stay at this beautiful intimate hotel. The staff is attentive and ready to accommodate any needs their guests have. Doña Lilian is a wonderful host and manager ready to make possible the stay here is memorable. It is my second year bringing a group of 10 people to stay here, and will come back over and over again.

Needs Improvement
Pros:

Location and Bungalow idea is very nice . Very over priced for no amenities; no restaurant and poorly kept beach area. Rooms do not have Kleenex or blow dryer and there are no pool towels pool side or at beach. Beach chairs uncomfortable and poorly maintained. Staff is friendly but that’s not enough .

Love the concept
Pros:

I love the concept of the bongalows. Small area which is great since not many people. The staff is super friendly, drinks were great. The food was delicious alittle pricey though.

The only negative thing about this place is the beds, pillows and sheets need to be more comfortable. The pool definitely needs to be renovated.

Wonderful Stay
Pros:

We had a lovely stay. Absolutely loved the grounds which are well kept. There's only 8 bungalows in the property so the resort is not crowded.
Staff are very nice and helpful, food is delicious, bungalows clean and inviting. The beach is lovely too.
If you're looking to party at night, this place is not for you as it tends to have a more chilled atmosphere. Again, highly recommended for those who are looking to get away from the noisy city.
It is a bit pricey but, worth every penny 👍

Pros:

The bungalows are an excellent concept for a vacation (specialy with a family). The beach is fantastic. The beach site with the palm unbrellas, chairs and bar is great. The service (employees), food, cleanliness and pool is excellent. To make this place paridise, it needs some small improvements ie coffee machine and small refrigerator (although there are ice boxes in which you can put ice to keep your beveages cold) and minor issue with the plumbing of the toilet of our bungalow. There are also Tours available from the site (very dependable Tour services). The overall review is this place is excellent and we will return.
