After more than two months staying here, I can confidently say this hotel genuinely delivers on its goal of creating a homey and comfortable environment rather than just a place to sleep.

One of the biggest strengths is the rooms. They are particularly spacious by Singapore standards, uncluttered, and very livable, which makes a real difference over an longer stay. I have been working from the room daily, and even after two months it has never felt claustrophobic or tiring to be in. The layout is practical and calming, and the lack of unnecessary clutter makes it easy to settle into a routine.

The staff are a major part of the welcoming, home-like atmosphere. Interactions are easy, relaxed, and natural rather than overly formal. It’s clear many of the team members have been here for a while and genuinely get along with each other, which creates a welcoming and steady tone throughout the hotel. While they are friendly and helpful with all guests, over a longer stay they go a step further by remembering you, checking in casually, and making you feel less like a transient guest and more like part of the extended family.

The front desk team in particular has been consistently friendly, responsive, and professional throughout my stay. Over time, that level of consistency really stands out. A special mention to Harry, Ling, Alex and Juliene, who have been especially helpful and welcoming, while still reflecting the same warm attitude shown by the entire team.

The hotel is clearly popular with tour groups, so there are occasional busy patches around group check-ins and check-outs. However, this is handled efficiently, and once you move beyond the lobby, the hotel never feels crowded or chaotic. Corridors remain quiet and the overall atmosphere stays calm, which is especially important during a long stay.

Although the building is older, it is immaculately clean and very well maintained, with nice touches of artwork and local antiques. The environment is consistently quiet, comfortable, and easy to live in day-to-day.

In terms of location, it has worked very well for my needs as a Singapore-based guest, with convenient access to transport, food options, and daily necessities. Even allowing for the busy Lunar New Year period, I only booked 1 - 2 weeks in advance and still found the value to be outstanding, especially considering the spacious rooms and consistent service over an extended stay.

This is not a flashy or “Instagram” hotel, but it excels where it matters most: space, cleanliness, consistency, and a genuinely welcoming, home-like feel. After more than two months here, it has become a very comfortable home base, and I will genuinely feel a bit sad when it is eventually time to leave.

Noordin head waiter and harry are oustanding employees. Enjoyed the stay. Bed is really comfortable and all water outlet has hot water.

Hani and Hanz assisted us on our check in and were very accommodating and understanding. We had a very early start and they were able to give us a room even before check in time. They are very easy to talk to, good customer service.

Throughout our stay at Hotel Royal, breakfast time is always a pleasant time, not just for the good food, but also for the excellent and friendly services of the staffs. Greetings, I am so honored to praise the Hotel Royal where I stayed. The place is so clean, the staff there are so good( esp Spencer ) and I want to extendsion on some certain dates which I can't reserve from website . Mr Spencer help me with a walk in for that day so that I need not move to other hotel for accommodation and back to Hotel Royal again . I can’t forget this helpful memory from Spencer to us .. I really appreciate it, and of course I will come again in the future.. great service.. thank you. Spencer

The hotel is a little long in the tooth built well over 50 years ago. The location was convenient with a bus stop out front and an MRT state about 5-10 minutes walk away.

The room itself was today and the beds were comfortable. The bathroom has a shower bath combination. The shower head could not be adjusted which lead to water on the floor. The bath itself was rusty around the sink hole and had stains from wear and tear.

Just all minor things caused by the age of the place. The staff at breakfast were nice and helpful.

Excellent location 10 minutes walk from Newtons Food Centre and close to MRT with bus stop outside hotel. Rooms are comfortable

Convenient location

It was a very pleasant stay for me in Hotel Royal, Singapore.
The staff were very kind. Especially Mr.Noordin in the breakfast cafe. He is an amazing and friendly person. He is very attentive and kind. We had great conversations and he was helpful too. Thank you Mr.Noordin for making my stay extra good.
Foods were good!
Rooms were clean. Bed is comfortable as well. I had a 2 weeks stay and no complain.
Location wise perfect to get to anywhere because bus station is right in-front of hotel.
If you get something delivered from online shop then the reception also handles it with care and you will receive it safely. Just let them know in advance if something is going to be delivered for you in the hotel.

This is my 3rd time stayed here, the hotel's performance remains excellent.
1. Hotel's lobby is very clean, comfortable place to waiting for check in time
2. The Room was spacious and also clean, lot of aminities to provide our needs, AC working properly, i love the bathtub thats my favorite.
3. All Ground staff was very kind, Thanks To Mr. Noordin who always serve us very well.
4. Breakfast option are good, child friendly.

Lovely pool and clean rooms

The hotel first gave us a very bad room with odor and dust and stains in the couch. Once complaint the Asst manager Priscilla was very attentive along with her front office subordinate and offered an executive room. Thank you very much for your service. The hotel should upgrade or tidy up the normal rooms !

Happy with what we got. Clean and tidy with a nice view from our room. Unfortunately the room wifi connection was very weak and would occasionally drop out.

Yes was amazing good. Very clean and comfortable environment. Will definitely come again. Very near town and many local food to try. Also shopping is around the corner.

Found cockroach in bathroom, on the 10th floor. Read their reply from 04/2025 to a review stating they contacted pest control for a different reason but apparently they did not. AC did not work either. Spend the extra $10-$50 per night at a nicer and cleaner hotel, unless you are comfortable sleeping with extra roommates, the roaches!
