Ubicación y el hotel
Good location near the Zocalo (main square). Staff helpful.
Our room had no window - just a pane of glass in the door.
Underbar miljö och bästa läget.
A wedding was happening the same weekend that I was staying at the hotel and it was clear that the guests of the wedding took priority over other guests staying at the hotel.
Great location just two blocks from the Zocalo/Cathedral. the hotel is in a convent that was founded in the 16th century, but has been modernized very well. Very warm, clean, comfortable, quiet, and luxurious which still retaining its historic charm. There are multiple courtyards scattered throughout the hotel, besides the main large courtyard which is also the dining area for the main restaurant. Nice service from the coffee shop, too. We also enjoyed the bar area, which again shows off its historic elements such as massive stone doors at one end.
The combination of modernization, historic charm, and great location make this a great place to stay. I'm so glad we picked it and would not stay anywhere else in town.
La ubicación del hotel
El personal del hotel ponía muchas trabas. La puerta del baño del cuarto no servia y nunca la arreglaron. Hay partes del hotel donde falta pintura.
The location is wonderful, just a couple blocks from the Zocalo & Cathedral. We were very impressed with how the old building had been modernized and made comfortable, but retaining the charm.
front desk staff could have been friendlier.
This was our third time staying at this establishment. As always the breakfast was outstanding.
The staff that greeted us at reception were unwelcoming and very cold. Based on our two previous stays this was very different and quite a surprise. We love the charm and history of this former convent and were thrilled to be staying a third time exactly because of that and our past wonderful experiences at this hotel. Our stay this time was terrible! We booked in August and sent a message right away to say that we would prefer a room on the the ground floor. We got a response saying we will try our best to accommodate your request, but when we arrived not only we were told that they could not honor the request, but that we would be on the third floor. When we got to the room, it was right in front of the elevator which we heard make a loud "bell" sound every time someone entered or left the elevator. To our dismay as well the room had been cheaply renovated and all of the history and charm removed. I went down to reception to let them know of our disappointment. The same "cool" lady at reception informed me that the hotel was full and there was nothing they could do. However, they would see if something might be available to change rooms the next day. We were told we would be moved to the main floor the next morning. We headed out for a few hours returning at 12:30. I went to see if the new room was ready, it was not. At 1:00 pm the maid told me the room was ready. I returned to reception where unfortunately the same "cool" lady was on hand, When I inquired about getting a key to the room, she seemed very irritated by my request, sighed loudly, checked the computer and eventually gave me the key. Suffice to say we will not be staying at this hotel again. Both my husband and I are fluently bilingual in English and Spanish and my husband is a Mexican national. We have travelled extensively though out Mexico and the world and this stay was not indicative of what we normally encounter, especially in Mexico.
