Glenlo Abbey Hotel

It was a chaotic beginning, we arrived in a storm. But still, this is a 5 star property and expensive. We had to wait for our room, and then communication broke down and when our room was ready, no one told us. We were given bad directions (it was in the new lodge area of property) and in the rain and wind, we had to find our way. The lodge rooms are new and not properly outfitted for a 5 star property. No bath mat (bathroom floor slippery and cold), no robes, tea kettle hidden on top shelf of closet, no air circulation. We called for a fan, they said "right away", it never came. There was a wedding at the property so the bar and common areas were full of wedding guests, no place for hotel guests. First day was rough. Second day,

Poor service though. No one could explain and show us how to get to our room. The extra room we had in the lodges wasn’t explained and was locked. Service at meals was long waits for service. Just very odd. Seems that focus on customer and training is the gap as facilities are stunning

Poor customer service was experienced two days in a row in the breakfast dining room. Staff took my order for coffee two days in a row and then didn’t deliver it. Had to ask other staff a couple of times to please bring coffee.
On day two my wife and I had the great fortune to get on a “wait list” for a table for breakfast. We waited 25 minutes to be seated.
When it came time to check out I asked the front desk for a porter to get our bags. I waited for another 25 minutes while I watched others who had come after me receive their luggage.
For the price of this supposedly five star resort I found the lack of good customer service quite disappointing. I, unfortunately, will not book another stay here.

The staff is very attentive and helpful. The bartender was amazing. We just needed 2 more of him as the lounge was under staffed. Beautiful location just 2 miles from downtown. I wish it had a pool and had upgraded walk in showers. The breakfast was amazing. Also Pullman Restaurant is a flash back to days gone by. Dont miss it....it is remarkable.

This is a nice enough hotel, but the property is dated, it badly needs a renovation, and if you think it is some sort of castle, it is not. The staff is really excellent, but for the price, I would not revisit and would discourage anyone from booking there expecting any sort of luxury experience. It is an old hotel with old rooms.

Beautiful hotel and property. Amazing food and excellent service. The golf course was incredible as well.

Hotel is beautiful and staff are great. The Pullman was the highlight of our trip. The food is outstanding and the service even more so. Ian made our dining experience so memorable, he was personable, extremely knowledgeable and helpful. The staff in the hotel itself were also lovely and very friendly. Excellent experience.

Staff and property fantastic!

Luxurious and comfy rooms. Staff is overly attentive. Hotel is quiet and details are impressive

Service was excellent and the location with the golf course and the lake beyond was wonderful. Breakfast was also the best all holiday. Staff were all brilliant. Enough said!

This is a lovely property. The rooms are spacious and well designed. Bed was very comfortable. AC in rooms. Did have washcloths. The drinks in the lounge are expensive. $16-18 per drink, these only have 32 ml of alcohol in each drink so a double can add up. We did the preset meal at the restaurant on the property. It was just OK for the price of $90 pp.
The bikes that are available to ride around the property need to be updated.

Awesome Property.

The property is beautiful and rooms are lovely. Only thing that could have made the stay is breakfast options and keeping buffet options filled as many options were empty bowls. (Yogurt, fruit, granola) there was also very limited staff for breakfast hours.

The service and room fell short of expectations though the grounds are spectacular. The dining options are good, but not standout. The room had a musty smell and lacked control over temperature. The service was average. The grounds were gorgeous and the falconry was a fun and wonderful highlight of our stay.

From the moment we arrived until we checked out the staff were top notch. The evening movie was a nice touch. The falconry experience with Jason a highlight.

The hotel itself is beautiful in an amazing setting. Our room was very comfortable with a great bathroom. Our porter (Michael I think) that greeted us when we arrived, was very friendly and helpful. He met us when we checked out as well and helped us plan our day.

We had a wonderful day for our 10 year wedding anniversary. The staff was exceptionally friendly and kind and answered all of our questions. They made several suggestions around the surrounding areas.

Amazing property. You really could just stay and not go anywhere else.

The doormen, especially Michael, were very helpful and insightful, as were the front desk staff. The grounds and the Abbey were beautiful. We will definitely stay here again, next trip to Galway.

We highly recommend The Falconry Experience. A bike ride down to the river/ferry. Movie night in the theater. The staff is simply lovely people.
