Guests are advised the same card that was used to make the booking will be required to take the payment.

Pets are welcome - there is a £15 per pet per stay supplement. Also a £100 damage deposit is required at check in- this is returned at check out - minus the £15 supplement & and any damage.

Pets are welcome to be in your room, bar & lounge areas - pets are not permitted in the main restaurant.

All minors must be accompanied by an adult aged 18 or over.

If an extra bed is required please call The Angel Hotel to confirm. Subject to availability.

The entire hotel is non-smoking - any evidence of smoking in the room will result in a £250 fine.

Comfortable but basic and disappointing
Pros:

Super central location, main entrance and staircase impressive and makes coming into the hotel feel special

Cons:

The rooms are basic and rather make-do - insufficient sockets and not by the bed; there was no hot water to start with and only in the shower (not the sink) after I raised the issue; the kettle behind the door has a short lead and the only way to connect to the socket is to put it on the floor; I was shocked that payment for room service (breakfast and overpriced) was expected on delivery and not to be settled on checking out.

Horrendous!

Cons:

Dated, noisy, bed and pillows very uncomfortable and had maximum 3 hours sleep. Facilites were shocking.

It was fine
Pros:

The location was great, and the staff friendly and helpful

Cons:

The bed was uncomfortable, the pillows incredibly flat, the room seemed in poor condition (broken door handle to bathroom, piece of the sink missing, questionable black marks on the ceiling). There was also a very noisy school group, but the staff spoke to them for us and our second night was quieter.

Cons:

To pay £141 for a double room. Then to find out radiators were not working and to plug in a electric heater that was in the wardrobe. Felt like we were put out the way. Won't be staying again

Angel Hotel Stay
Pros:

The staff were wonderful. The breakfast was fantastic and the location is ideal. Comfortable bed with iron, hairdryer and a fan.
1st class.

Cons:

The rooms were dated, but then it is an old hotel. So not really a dislike at all.

Pros:

Great location on the edge of the city centre. Room was nice and large (although being a "suite" was a stretch...). Nice breakfast buffet. A comfortable stay, for what we needed for a weekend visiting family.

Cons:

Overall, this was a pleasant stay, but it's the little things that took some of the shine off. The hotel is past its once doubtless splendour. Some of the fixtures and fittings look like couple of decades old - although, perfectly functional. Rooms are comfortable, but lack what one can reasonably expect these days. Plugs featuring USB ports. Plugs either side of the bed... An extractor fan in the en suite. Possibly, a fridge. Arguably, these are nice-to-haves for most, but those competing for bookings are already ahead.

If I had paid half the price I would have been fine but for the price I won’t be returning.
Pros:

The location, the beds were comfortable, the shower was surprisingly good. The staff at reception and in housekeeping were very nice.

Cons:

The hotel was very run down.
In the room the shower curtain stuck to you, the TV had no channels, the phone didn’t work to call reception. The second night we had road works most of the night so didn’t sleep - not the hotels fault but should have been informed.
The breakfast was not great. The ingredients seemed cheap and I thought I had muddled the ketchup with some sort of smooth jam. I left the hot breakfast but this was not cleared. The table was not cleared each day.
Previously we stayed in a hotel that wasn’t much more expensive and it was far better from a decore and food perspective- not a staff perspective though.
