Good Location
No AirCon on the hottest day of the year, only one fan for two people in single beds (should have one each). Paid over £200 for the room. Paint work sad and very dated, could do with an overhaul Do not even think of staying here in the summer, get something with AirCon.
Excellent location for our needs
Heating was on full in all corridors and rooms during a 30 degree heatwave and provided a small fan to compensate
The location was good for the castle concert.
I appreciate it's an old building but the heat indoors was unbearable we had a fan which was useless and couldn't open the window. We had to wet towels too try and cool down. The worst night ever.
The bed was the comfiest I've been in and the breakfast was lovely.
The Aircon wasn't working
Location was fabulous. Near the park and close to all things of interest.
The area was good, close to town and close to Blackweir gardens where we were going
The room was to expensive for what it was £245 for a suit but it wasn’t anything special. Curtains coming off the rails.
The location is central, perfect to reach any point of interest. The outlook of the building and the rooms are great to enjoy the area and the context. Staff are very friendly and helpful. Really enjoyed my stay!
There was nothing I did not like.
It was very close to where we needed to be
£243 for one night for somewhere that was very much in need of upgrading to modern standards for really not worth the money.
Staff
Outdated. Poorly equipped for the heat, not comfortable and very overpriced
The staff were very friendly, the location, the size of the room. Apparantley we were upgraded to a deluxe rather than the standard.
Not too sure what a standard would of been.
I found the bed to be comfortable.
So... i do have to bear in mind that we stayed on a day where there was a heatwave and hitting over 30 degrees.
Rooms dont have AC although knew this at point of booking. 1 fan got put in the room however we couldnt open the windows so the room was stuffy and just blowing hot air around. On arrival of the room we opened the door and a strong odour of urine greeted us. Water in the room would of been nice. Rooms are dated but again expected this after reading reviews. Bathroom was slippy and the shower curtain did not really prevent water exiting from the bath / shower.
Due to a big gig being on i paid £265 for one night here and just had to lump it as we needed somewhere to stay. I am reasonable in the fact staff cannot control a heatwave but i think there could of been more measures in place to help guests have a more pleasent stay.
Regardless of a gig i see it as ive spent 265 for one night and it was on the same level as the city centre travelodge if not worse.
Le personnel est vraiment disponible et agréable.
Son emplacementest vraiment ideal...
Dommage que l'établissement ne dispose pas de climatiseur dans les parties communes et dans les chambres.. sinon, ca aurait été au top
Location , nice old hotel
Too expensive, bathroom needs renovation as well as the room
Very good location - very easy to find and lots of parking nearby (Sophia Gardens Car Park for bigger vehicles - really lovely)
It was just very expensive but it’s because there was a concert on - looking at the prices when there’s no concert they look a little more sensible - it’s a little tired and needs some cosmetic attention but it’s old and it’s rustic
