Good location. Excellent breakfast. Quiet
Dirty carpet. Unabke to walk around room as it was toi small (baroiw gap at end of bed). Mo wvening meals. Desk hard to use because if large bin underneath.
Great breakfast. Love all the memorabilia of the railway. Perfect location
Nothing comes to mind
On the whole it was fine. Would i stop there again. Yes
some noise coming from the station in the night. They may have been working on the line.
Have stayed at this hotel a few times as it is convenient for early morning trains, but if you arrive after c. 8pm it's a lottery as to whether you"ll be let in despite pre-booking. On two occasions I eventually got the night porter to let me in after knocking on various windows (doorbell didn't work). Most recently arrived and couldn't get in at all so had to stay elsewhere. Nobody around at all. I won't be staying again! It makes Fawtly Towers seem like a slick operation!
Wonderful location and the food was superb. Very impressed
Closeness to station
Polite staff
Noise on the first night
Bed was comfy. Clean room.
Although it said parking available staying guests. There was an event on, and they said a space wouldn’t be available until after 5pm, which was a big inconvenient. So had to pay another £9.80 to park in the multi story car park next door. My logic is that they should prioritise staying guests over event guests. Or just say limited parking.
Breakfast was awful. I ordered a granola bowl - but it had so much lemon curd at the bottom, runny yogurt, lots of berry compote and only a sprinkle of granola at the top. It was so odd. Had to send it back. Asked for toast and a coffee toast came out. Cold. With hard butter and didn’t return with any coffee. Breakfast is included. But it felt like too much effort for them to be attentive. Such a shame.
All my scoring is based on an admiration of the YMCA project which I have known about since Beach Hotel project. The room exceeded expectations -- except I was unable to make the shower gel dispenser work, the staff were brilliant..again one needed to appreciate the project better to more easily accept how good it was. The room was great..had all we wanted.
Shame there is no lounge..but it is a railway .transit hotel.
I did us the gents downstairs and there was no toilet paper there .so that routine needs further checking.
I just love the hotel ...and no major thing I didn't like.
It's a gem..and I'm sure will get even better if resources allow. Great to see 12 Bedrooms booked.
The property is very well maintained.
That I had to leave.
That it was so close to the station.
Poor staff.
Great location for commuting, staff very friendly and loved that there was proper coffee in the room :)
Breakfast was good, the room was clean but basic and the bathroom was nearly as big as the bedroom 😊
Check in person was blunt and had obviously had never heard of the words, please or thank you. The hotel is looking a little tired and needs some money spent on it, and finally I booked 2 rooms, one with Booking.com for my wife and I for 2 nights at a cost of £209 and one, a bigger family room directly with the hotel, because it couldn’t be done on line, for 2 nights for £112.!!
Moral of the story, book direct!
Location excellent and breakfast very good.
I know the staff are young but they were all a bit confused at breakfast and the young man looked like he hadnt showered for days and could do with a hair cut
very noisy outside at night due to the location, but that isnt your fault
