Disapointed... I have been staying at the Hotel for more than a Decade this holiday we decided to travel around durban starting with Umhlanga then Sibaya and durban North it was fantastic ended off our holiday at Wildcoast sun. Sadly my booking was not what I booked I asked for a seafacing pool room instead got a garden facing room 177 wich was a very long distance too walk in a dungeon whiles I had a hip operation this was torture to walk a mile to the lift I asked for a move was then moved to 227 wich was much better in distance. Whiles I tried to talk to the Msnager Aaron who completely brushed me off 2 times then completely ignored me and said his busy. The 3rd time I tried to talk to him he ignored me and attended to a guest who claimed he didn't have ice in his room. I net him in the passage where he was running with the ice and told me he'll call me he never did. I found this so unprofessional and being a Property Manager myself I found this behavior unprofessional as I treat all my guest as VIP's. In all my previous stays I have always left a happy guest but not this time. It was my birthday and wanted to celebrate but this was ruined. And all I wanted to speak to the manager about is to correct my booking. But he never gave me a chance to speak to him. I was going to return this year but this has left a bitter taste in my mouth. I have often recommended guest, family and friends to your Hotel but this behavior and treatment really put me off.
we have booked way in advance and the rooms we have requested were not given to us. we are a family of 6 and requested 2 family rooms next to each other. Yolanda and Siya were having such a terrible attitude and the managers could not do anything as per the request we have had. we have been coming to wild coast for the longest time and their attitude in the front is disgusting. they have no respect for customers. and their porters couldn’t even come and collect our stuff. the service was pathetic for a Sun MVG. when we eventually got the porter which was 2 hours after our arrival, they had so much of attitude and so many side comments. i’m not one to complain or lose my temper quickly but this was disgusting and we got a bush facing room when we specifically requested sea facing
A well deserved break at Wild Coast Very pleasant staff and entertainment at the best Food is delicious with a wide selection of alcohol including wine The gardens are well set which is well maintained The car park an roads are well maintained
We are writing to express our disappointment and frustration with our stay at Wild Coast Sun from March 15-17, 2024. As loyal customers who have been visiting your resorts since childhood, we had high expectations for a relaxing family getaway. Unfortunately, our experience fell short due to a private function that was not disclosed at the time of booking.
The presence of this event resulted in:
- Unavailability of the best restaurant, forcing us to dine at Spur
- Limited access to the hotel private pool
- Congestion and noise disturbances
Despite raising our concerns onsite, we received no feedback or resolution. Furthermore, our special vegan breakfast request was compromised when a milk-based product was used, causing distress to my family.
To compensate for the disrupted experience, we were forced to exceed our budget by over R3000, spending on alternative activities like segway, quad biking, spa treatments, and boat rides. Moreover, we had to endure intoxicated behavior from attendees of the private function.
We are disappointed that our complaints were not addressed internally between March-August 2024, leading us to share our experience publicly.
My stay at the Wild Coast Sun was incredible. The resort offers amazing food and numerous facilities to enjoy for families, couples, friends and business guests alike. The room quality was exceptional, with incredibly comfortable beds and great Wifi. The highlight was the stunning morning sunrise over the ocean, which turned my room orange - I was completely captivated by the natural beauty. I highly recommend booking a sea-facing room and sleeping with the curtains open to enjoy this breathtaking view. The attentive team made my stay even more enjoyable. A fantastic experience overall - 100% recommended and I'm already planning a return trip for longer. Thank you team Sun International!
It is disappointing to note that the gym is limited wrt equipment. The multi gym is broken. The water jar empty. The toilets within the casino is stinky and unkempt. Rooms do not provide any bottled water for consumption. A disappointing stay for a once 5 star establishment.
Unfortunately one does not feel safe at the Wild Coast Sun anymore, usually my family's destination of choice, however on our last visit, my husband was asked if he would like to buy drugs at the koi pond. While i was shopping at the little shop opposite the Reception area, 2 guys stood too close behind me and i had my phone in my pocket, my husband who saw what was going on, came to stand behind me. Needless to say, the WILD COAST SUN is not what it used to be. Also be very wary of going onto the beach alone. While you may think its a private beach, its not and shouldnt attempt going onto that beach.
Water Park is great, so much to do for the family.
Note to take swim towels with you.
The Greek restaurant was my favourite, really nice atmosphere and chilled setting overlooking the ocean. Food was tasty and service very good
Hotel entrance beautiful and very classy. Chose Seaview deluxe rooms which are beautiful, neat and classy though the base furniture's of the bed is starting to age. The breakfast area was awesome with sea views . The infrastructure around the hotel are also beautiful and well taken care of. The restaurant food is also delicious and their prices are reasonable not that expensive. Mangwanani Spa and Legends Barbershop are inside the hotel premises which adds as a plus for us. Wild Wave Water Park good for everyone.
Air conditioning, phone, wifi and tv didn’t work
The property is suitable for one who wants peace and quite. you are able to relax away from the hassle and bustle of city life
Reception staff very helpful
Breakfast food varied and plentiful
Staff at Monos very helpful
Dining room has the intimacy of aircraft hanger
The hotel downstairs very noisy
The setting and surrounding area of hotel is idyllic.
Excellent
My stay was a pleasant one, and I enjoyed each and every moment, actually everything was perfect 👍
We booked a sea facing family room. It was a lovely room with a balcony and an awesome ocean view that I thoroughly enjoyed sitting on the balcony with my coffee every morning. The room definitely needs some upgrading but it was a lovely stay. The activities at the hotel were also lovely and the kids absolutely loved the hotel pool when not at the waterpark. The beach was so lovely but that steep walk back was not fun at all.
I suggest you have a shuttle to the riverside cruise instead of making guests walk or drive there. Also the restaurant at the pool needs to open earlier than 12 as it is too long to wait if you have had breakfast at 7. Kids cannot wait that long and they get up early.
Overall our stay was great though. The kids had a blast.
Check in process continues to be a nightmare despite complaints. Long queues with barely any staff. Never allocated a room that one requests online. Chico’s restaurant service has not changed. Tureens are empty, both at breakfast and dinner. No one checks. No managers can be seen. Staff on the floor ignore requests or walk away arrogantly. As if our food is free. Customer service generally is going to the dogs. Really sad to see this institution in this state. How you are rated as a 4 star establishment, beats me.
very excellent
There is a laissez-faire attitude from check-in to check-out. The staff at reception are badly trained or plainly negligent. As for the rooms - for the love of sanity, they ALL need to rehabilitated! The gaming area is populated by newer staff with an entitled attitude and dismissive approach to customer service. It's a sad state of affairs and would advise anyone to avoid till Managment get this site into order as the potential is there but there's no will to get it right presently.
We did a day trip to the pool area and the maltos poolside Resturant.
Such a stunning place, spacious poolside and amenities. The monkeys have really become dependant on the sugar packets and food being served. Don't know how this can be sorted but it is quite detrimental to the guests in the pool and dining areas.
The options on menu are a lot but portions are so little for the price being paid
Drinks also very pricey.
