Schönes grosses Hotel, sehr gut gelegen

Das Hotel liegt sehr gut fussläufig erreichbar von den Kreuzfahrtterminals und unweit des Halifax Boardwalks. Unser sog. Premium Zimmer mit Kingsize-Bett war ausreichend gross und mit Sicht auf den Hafen gut gelegen. Wir waren etwas zu früh für den Check-in, konnten aber das Gepäck problemlos abgeben. Sehr schön fanden wir sodann, dass das Gepäck bereits im Zimmer war, als wir dieses beziehen konnten. Top Service. Das Frühstück war gut und ohne Hektik. Das Bett und die Bettwäsche waren sehr angenehm, die Zimmerausstattung gut.

We really enjoyed, in general, the friendliness of the people of Halifax including the hotel staff's
Pros:

The location was excellent as it was very close to most of the tourist attractions -- the waterfront board walk, the museum of immigration, the maritime museum, etc., as well as eateries catering to diverse palates. The hotel staff was cheerful, smiling AND helpful. On the first night of our arrival, I slipped on the sidewalk on Barrington Street and got some serious scratches on my knee and left hand. We returned to the hotel (it was around 11:45 PM) and requested for help/first-aid at the hotel reception. The attending officer Jasmeher Singh was extremely helpful and empathetic; not only used bandages and wipes, etc., from the first aid box but contacted a couple of pharmacies to seek further help and an appointment for tetanus inoculation. He filled in the detailed information and got an appointment for me for the following morning at Shoppers Drug Mart (as it was past midnight then and it was not possible to get the inoculation done at that time). Jasmeher is certainly an asset for The Westin and I hope they have more like him!! The person at the conceirge, Lee, was also helpful and provided us a city map of Halifax and gave us excellent advice about some of the "must-see" places, not-to be-missed eateries, and how to reach them. Overall, we had a great stay at the Westin, Halifax Nova Scotian.

Cons:

Well, we think the hotel room doors had to be pushed hard and more than once to be opened.

Pros:

The friendliness of the door staff Lee and Luke we’re so welcoming when we were either leaving the hotel in the morning or coming back in the evening they gave us lots of hints of restaurants and places to visit. They really made it so enjoyable.

Train your restaurant and bar staff
Pros:

The room, the location and the staff attendance at arrival, reception and in the restaurant and bar.

Cons:

The breakfast organisation is not even 3star like . Only little staff are available, not trained to work efficiently. There were 1 at the bar and 1 clearing at least 7 dirty tables waiting just in the bar area during our 20min waiting time., 30 people waiting in queue. Use trolleys and tablets. Do not walk empty-handed.... Lacking time, we chose the buffet. Some buffet shelves were completely emptied, some almost.
Sarurday evening, we waited for 50 minutes for our dinner. (Lobster and clam dip and summer grain bowl) The waitress was very nice and sorry.

Comfortable reliable stay in a good location.
Pros:

We had a great view from our room. The hotel was near the waterfront, restaurants and the very good Immigration Museum. We had a delicious breakfast.

The room was smaller than we'd like although well appointed.
