Everything was wonderful. Beautiful, atmospheric, serene. Concierge Carlos Gonzalez was exceptionally helpful when my husband lost his keys, repeatedly phoning potential leads at the Mexico City airport.
I wish the cost was lower so I could afford to stay longer or return more often

Our family stayed in Oaxaca for a week to attend a wedding. Since the wedding party had an event at the hotel in the garden we booked our rooms. Every single person at the hotel was truly exceptional and nothing we asked seemed to be too outlandish for the staff.
We were a bit concerned about our safety so I opted to ask the hotel for suggestion on a tour company or guide. On that note the hotel has 24 hour security and at night we were stopped and asked for our info.
Carlos booked a private tour for 2 days for the family. Emilio our tour guide was out of this world and even though the prices were a bit higher than a group tour we were able to customize it to suit our desires. The hotel is right in the heart of the city so you can walk anywhere. We did just that.
I could go on and on but what I can tell you is that we were apprehensive about coming to Oaxaca but left knowing we will be coming back soon and staying at the Quinta Real.
If you’re looking for a forgettable 5 star luxury hotel with everything new and shiny, this ain’t for you. If you want a memorable stay in an historic hotel, with wonderful public spaces, perfect traditional service, and a unique vibe, it is.
Fabulous, though slightly dingy. But totally forgivable. Amazingly courteous and generous service. The restaurant is the best restaurant we ate at (and we ate at all the best reviewed, Michelin starred ones). It is outstandingly good. The building is so lovely and unique and peaceful. Beds comfortable. Trying very hard to be a 5 star hotel and not quite getting there but almost. So well meaning and you dont really need anything better. Who cares if your table has some scratches in it and looks like it was installed in 1992. The building is from hundreds of years ago and the history is very magnificent and moving.
A historic building housing a lovely hotel in central Oaxaca. It was amazing to walk through the cloisters and admire the architecture following a busy day in Oaxaca. The rooms were clean and comfortable and staff couldn’t be more helpful.
We only had breakfast each day but it was of a very high standard. The swimming pool is brilliant.

The staff was terrific, the customer service, the breakfast offerings, the grounds of the property were beautiful and well preserved, the refreshing mecalina tamarindo cocktails at the bar, and the seamless check-in and check-out process. I have raved about the hotel since my return to LA, and I plan to stay at this hotel for future stays.
The room was near the street, so it was a little noisy in the morning, but not horrible. Guest of the hotel tend to linger and congregate outside your door and talk even though it's not in front of their room. Maybe a gentle policy to greet guests upon arrival so they don't disturb guests who may be sleeping.
Well maintained, beautiful, and historic.

Room 101 was next to the courtyard dining area and reception so could be noisy if you were wanting peace and quiet!
Location was perfect. Pool area was serene and a nice siesta retreat. We had a second floor elite room with windows out to the courtyard. I don’t know what other rooms are like, but 239 was really nice. The beds are fabulous. Courtyard dining is lovely.
Everything was nice. For the price, it would nice to have complimentary continental breakfast. The buffet is fabulous, but I don’t always want a big expensive breakfast.
