As a solo traveller, 69 years old, I stayed here from 29th March to 2nd April 2026. I booked a deluxe room. Throughout my stay the reception staff were friendly and helpful. This also applies to the staff in the breakfast room, that doubles as a bar in the evening. I felt very welcome as a single traveller, something that doesn't always apply. The location is wonderful, very close to the Alilaguna waterbus stop on the direct line from the airport. From the hotel in one direction it is perhaps 5 minutes walk past very exclusive shops to St Mark's Square. In the other, through a much more relaxed area, it is about 5 minutes to Campo Santo Stefano where there were nice pavement cafes.
My room was on the front of the hotel and a very good size. It was very clean and everything worked! The public areas in the hotel are traditional in style and the atmosphere was comfortable. I booked my flight and hotel through Jet2 and was very happy with what I had, considering what I had paid.
Venice itself seemed to me expensive compared with other places in Italy where I have stayed over the past year. But it was a fabulous place to visit and I may well grin and bear it from a cost point of view and go again.
So I know it’s “out of season” I.e. not June to August, however to come to a hotel were you can’t use the air con, or the terrace as “it’s not spring” seems appalling.
To then ask to use the ironing room and told “it’s locked” I find unbelievable.
It is a good location. However the rooms as very small, yes I know, it’s a great location what do you expect…
Well I don’t expect to be woken up before 8am to intense drilling! So loud that it could be in the room next door! So we leave to go out and explore, we come back at 4pm and yes the drilling is still going on, so no peaceful siesta (in know I’m in Italy but the principle is the same)
Unahotels Ala Venezia is an outstanding hotel! The location is perfect for single travelers as well as couples. The water taxi (orange line from the airport) drops you off literally a 2 minute walk from the hotel! The room although small, was very comfortable and the bed sheets were luxurious! Pillows were equally nice. The breakfast room offered a variety of items, all delicious and abundant. We ordered Cappuccino and expected to pay an additional fee...none to our surprise! It was included in the price. The water taxi (number 1) to the train station also has a stop right by the hotel. The location is perfect! Lots of places to eat and St. Marks Square is a few minutes by foot. Venice is the perfect place to walk and allow yourself to get lost in the beauty of each turn. As a travel consultant, I would proudly recommend this hotel to anyone traveling to Venice. It truly is a gem!
UnaHotel Ala Venezia is in the perfect location for exploring Venice. It’s just a short walk (under three minutes) from the Alilaguna water bus stop, so you won’t need to drag your luggage over bridges. Major attractions like St. Mark’s Basilica, St. Mark’s Square, and the Rialto Bridge are all nearby.
The hotel is beautiful, and the staff are friendly and attentive. We arrived by water taxi and didn’t have to handle our luggage, which we really appreciated. Breakfast was one of the best we had during our trip through Italy and Spain—lots of variety and everything was fresh and delicious. The coffee was excellent, which is always important for coffee lovers!
We highly recommend UnaHotel Ala Venezia for its convenience, comfort, and warm hospitality.
Service was excellent. The room was good. However to our taste the pillows were terrible (too hard) . The bathroom soaking tub/shower height was difficult for older occupants and no space to set incidentals.
No air conditioning in the room!!!
I see a lot of good reviews about this place though I’m not sure how. The first room had two small beds put together, as soon as you lay on the bed they split apart creating a gap. They changed rooms and put us in a room with no air conditioning and plumbing issues.
They said the entire hotel doesn’t have air conditioning, if that’s the case then why advertise it as such?
Staff was rude and nothing was done about the air conditioning situation.
What can we say? For more than 20 years we have been staying at Hotel Ala. We feel like family. So many things have remained consistent about this place over the years, and that is a joy. Friendly owners and staff - from Andrea and Sylvia and Stefano and Moreno and Mario and Alessandro, and everyone - sorry I can't name you all! As has been written on here many times - the location is perfect - vaporetto just down the alley. A dock off the lobby for a water taxi, a traghetto just across the campo. A few minute walk to San Marco or up and around La Fenice to the Rialto, or in the other direction through Santo Stefano and on to the Accademia bridge. The breakfast staff works really hard to put out a huge spread every day and to make sure everyone has what they want. The staff working the rooms are all pleasant and helpful. And of course, there is the ever popular bar with Rey at the helm, along with Bubu! It is a great place for locals as well as visitors to hang out and relax and have a drink or two.
We love it at Hotel Ala! James & Albert
Great location, beautiful room and friendly staff. Wouldn’t change a thing.
It was convenient
Got bite by spiders or something at night. Kept windows closed all the time. Other than that, extremely clean, friendly staff, incredible location and even better experience
The hotel is in an excellent location for airport water bus and the water bus to train station. The hotel staff are friendly and welcoming, rooms are a good size with nice décor. Location is great for San Marco and exploring. Breakfast is very good and the bar has a lovely atmosphere. Can highly recommend staying here.
Lots of shops.
Fantastic location 100m from the Alilaguna stop making travelling from the airport very easy, also only 10-15 min walk from a lot of tourist spots (saint marks, Peggy Guggenheim and Galleria galleries) and very walkable to other areas too. Room I got was a little odd - at the top near the roof terrace (lovely spot at the end of the day for a drink), large room but had some low beams particularly in the bathroom so would not suit someone tall. Staff were lovely and helpful though and would probably stay here again.
Hhjj
I thought I booked a recently renovated hotel (that’s what the site said and what all the pictures showed) and when we arrived at our room it was clearly not part of the renovation. Very disappointing. It was all beige and looked like it was last updated in the 80’s. Don’t fall for the pics, or be sure to ask for the updated rooms.
We had 2 reservations, 1 for 10/4-10/6/25 and second one for 10/6-10/8/25. We booked alone but booked the same type of the room with our group because we are Hotel.com member.
Ended up we got the worst room among whole group, the room was likely a closet, hard to move around, we didn’t even want housekeeper to clean our room because luggage was in the way.
It was worst experience we ever experienced with the money we paid.
Very close to a Vaporetto stop and easily walkable. Nice quiet square w/ St Marks 5 min walk away. Lots of interesting shops and restaurants.
Great location and very easy to find. In a quiet plaza and canal. Definitely will come back!
Excellent 10/10. —- beautiful for everything!!!! Love it!
Our experience at Una hotel was excellent. Very comfortable room with great A/C. Beds and linens were good. Would definitely stay there again. Location was great.
