Disappointing stay at the Hollywood Hotel.
The room was below the standard we expected. The bathroom was dirty, the overall condition of the room was poor, and there were no cupboards or proper storage space for clothes. We also had an ongoing issue with ants repeatedly invading the room, including the bed area. We reported this twice, and while the room was cleaned, the manager, Gisel Miller, did not apologise for the inconvenience or acknowledge the disruption this caused.
To make matters worse, a personal souvenir bag went missing from our room during our stay. When we reported it, another member of staff checked the lost and found, but Gisel Miller was rude and dismissive. Rather than showing any concern, she told us it was not the hotel's responsibility and suggested that we simply couldn't remember what we had done with the bag. This response was extremely frustrating, particularly as other members of staff told us that guests' belongings going missing is something that happens frequently.
Overall, the cleanliness, poor room condition, pest issue, and the way our concerns were handled made this a very disappointing experience. We expected much better customer service and a more professional response to the issues we encountered.
Shower kit
Absent coffee machine, the coffee machine is basic part of service all hotels, even not good once. Using the key for elevator from upstairs is useless and super inconvenient. The AC temperature 65° in the room, too hot. The pillow is useless, do uncomfortable.
Gutes Personal
It was fairly clean and close to metro
Unhelpful staff, no air con in one of our rooms, beds rock hard and uncomfortable, overpriced breakfast, not a desirable area
Nothing.
When I walked into the room the first thing I did was look into the balcony, I was looking forward to this, and the view disappointed me. I hoped into the bed and I was met with stiff mattresses, very uncomfortable.
The bath room fan was so loud, and the toilet too, yet the shower had no power. Felt like I was under sprinklers.
I was trying to be optimistic but when I turned on the tv I had to mirror my device, like the hotel doesn’t have a smart tv?
10 mins in the WiFi kicks me out, I log back in and then kicked me out Again. I learned that the WiFi keeps kicking me out every 10 mins.
The worst part, my daughter got scared because she seen a roach in the bathroom. I called the lobby and it took them 20 mins to send someone with a spray. JUST A SPRAY. The lady still tells me, “I don’t see a roach”. Like what did she expect? For the roach to wait 20 mins for her to get there?
I wanted to leave but I was in a position in which I had to endure it.
An adequate place to stay, in a slightly less desirable area of Hollywood where I would recommend paying to park in the hotel car park despite the costly charge. One of rooms the aircon didn’t work and the staff were not overly helpful trying to sort it out. Our room had some ants in it and it was very worn and dated but mostly clean. We had an issue with breakfast vouchers as a discrepancy over the amount we had been allocated, and again staff not bothered in trying to help sort it out. You have to collect a breakfast voucher every morning before going to the restaurant to queue to order which is a bit strange. Overall it is close to the metro so that’s convenient . We only stayed one night if had been longer would probably be less happy but for an overnight it was ok.
Its clean and confortable and Rooms are perfect
I didn’t like how i needed to pay the parking and When I reserved the hotel in booking.com it said it was gonna have breakfast included but it wasnt like that
The hotel was great overall with the exception of the AIR CONDITIONER! The system is an eco friendly unit, which means it shuts off when there is no movement. That means when you sleep the system shuts itself off in the middle of the night. So you wake up a lot hot as hell. When complaining we were told they had a complaint into the manufacture but nothing can be done. Eco friendly would work great in an office building, BUT NEVER IN A HOTEL!!!
First off the only reason why this “hotel” didn’t receive a “terrible” rating is because of the house keeping. Starting off with the positive…housekeeping staff made sure my room was thoroughly cleaned daily and provided exceptional customer service each time I requested additional towels for myself and my family. Now to the negative…can we say, catfished on so many levels.
#1. The exterior entrance shown in advertisements is really the back of the hotel and no where near an honest reflection of where you’ll actually be staying. Only the 3rd floor guests (key cards limit guest access) have access to the serene patio which offers panoramic views of the hills & downtown.
The primary entrance is locked for guest safety as the hotel is actually located in a “sketchy” neighborhood, filled with addicts, abandoned buildings and trash lined streets. Unsavory is an understatement.
#2. The rooms are outdated. Stucco is peeling off walls, furniture is dirty & stained (even in the lobby), the showers are…gross but clean (signs of wear and rust). The bedding makes the actual bed seem…tolerable. But when you lay down you realize it’s more like a wooden plank covered by a thin duvet cover.
All in all the “hotel” is reflective of the overall neighborhood…raggedy and worn down. As a tourist who believed Los Angeles was filled with lush beauty and serene views (I visited San Diego a few years ago and was wowed), I can acknowledge that I failed to do my homework. The city of Los Angeles is filled with dirt, despair and drug addiction. On a dimly bright note, the train station was only a block away from the “hotel” (walk briskly and hopefully you’ll fixate on very little around you). This made getting to the Hollywood Walk of Fame and its surrounding attractions easy.
Do yourself a favor NEVER stay here. Avoid the Grand Central Market, Chinatown, Little Tokyo and Koreatown. All locations are plagued with the least desirable images that Los Angeles has to offer. Take the time to venture out to Venice Beach and Santa Monica Pier. Both made this trip worth while. Best wishes…do your homework to avoid the catfish. Stay at an AirBnB…you’ll thank me later.
I liked that it was close to the venue.
That most everything was closed for renovations no upstairs restaurant bar for a drink and a bite to eat before the concert like it said in description. The bed creeked really loud anytime you sat on it.
Michael was great! When we checked in he noticed that we were staying 4 nights so he gave us an upgrade. On the 2nd night the main circuit plug went out. He immediately was able to move us to another room.
Stellar staff from front desk to housekeeping. So proactive and not intrusive.
Super secure parking and property feels safe all around. Surprisingly quiet as well.
Pool is super clean and inviting.
The building is old so it’s a little rough around some edges (I don’t mind at all) but everything was very clean and well styled. Very impressed by all for the price point, nothing was lacking.
Not a super walkable area for things to do but anything you could need is in the hotel or within a block. Very great location however for a 15-30 min drive to anywhere in LA.
We will definitely book here again.
Highly recommend this hotel!
My stay at The Hollywood Hotel was absolutely amazing. The hotel environment is spotless and very well-maintained, which made me feel super comfortable. The staff are incredibly friendly and helpful. In particular, I want to recognize Pil for providing outstanding customer service. Thank you for the wonderful attitude and for making my trip so pleasant!
I just spent 12 nights at the Hollywood Hotel. I love that place! The rooms are spacious and comfortable and the staff could not be nicer or more accommodating! I highly recommend this hotel to everyone and will definitely stay there in the future! Thanks Pil, Mike, Julio and team! You are all terrific!
The king suite was great! Pil on reception is SO lovely and helpful - super diligent, knowledgeable and friendly.
Had a leak in our room and had to move to another room that also had a leak. The showers aren’t great in the king rooms if you want to avoid getting your hair wet.
