All staff members we encountered were warm and welcoming - location was perfect, beach front, close to the monkey trail and many shops and restaurants, our room far exceeded our expectations with a sea view with private plunge pool - just perfect!
I stayed for 9 nights over Christmas and the whole stay was perfection. From the hotel’s location at a quieter end of the beach to the private pool I spent hours bobbing around in whilst reading I have left super relaxed. The staff are all incredibly friendly and breakfast is phenomenal - so much choice every day.
the housekeeper not good have to ask for water and towels to change , the bathroom is leaking , room not cleaned until 16:30 from the morning
Perfect location at the quiet end of Aonang beach, mountains to the left, beach front and minutes from longtail bots, bars, spas, restaurants and shops.
Family hotel, with lovely staff who are super friendly and accommodating. Rooms are spacious with modern conveniences. Ok value wise - location is what drives the price.
Joined the yoga class with Breez and Dan from the sports team and highly recommend. They gave a very serene and relaxing yoga practice on the beach with a view of the sea, boats and mountains.
The location is central and is good if you would like to explore!
The rooms spacious and well designed however the garden view rooms- does’nt really have a “garden view”- its got a ravine or a gutter flowing by which sometimes lets out a stench! But by itself the rooms are brilliant and noise free- very peaceful! The staff is courteous, ever smiling and warm. James from house keeping was hospitable! The front deak girls were a refreshing site after a tiring day! The service is prompt and the food is spectacular with portion sizes that are value for money!
For the location, property, kids swimming pool with slide - awesome 👌.
Overall food spread specially Vegetarian Indian food + service levels are low. Need to improve a lot.
Although staff is humble and polite but slow to act and resolve.
The hotel is lovely, its clean and a good location to the main strip and beach.
The staff are lovely, attentive and polite.
Id recommend that you research this area and hotel before booking as the clientele is challenging (3rd December arr).
Breakfast was like feeding time at the zoo, children running riot, people being rude to waiting staff, the biggest pool is so noisy and again kids just out of control.
For a quieter time, head to the pool near the beach away from the chaos - it's like Benidorm in Thailand, not the spa resort we expected...
Its embarrassing to think that this behaviour is expected by the Thai people, not everyone behaves like this.
Ao Nang itself is loud, and obnoxious, again not the quiet paradise we expected.
Because this hotel is on a main strip there is a lot of people who just drop in and use the pool (constantly saw this), and the pool chairs. One thing that became just annoying as pool chairs are hard to come by at this hotel. If you’re not out there early and securing it for the day you aren’t getting one.
Rooms are quite lovely, we had an ocean view. A/C Definitely could be coolder.
We arrived at the hotel at 11am. Check-in was 3pm. Whilst there is no expectation of checking-in early, most hotels manage to do it, or at least convince you that they will try. The Centara asked us to download the hotel's app, which they would use to send us a message when the room was ready. The reception staff member made no promises about an early check-in but the prospect of receiving a message gave us some hope. She presented as efficient, if a little cordial. She told us the room number and that it had a sea view. When my wife asked if it was a nice room, she replied stating the official category/description of the room (i.e. Deluxe room etc) rather than a personal view. Having to sign up to an app, rather than receiving a personal message from a human, combined with the aloof manner of the staff, did not amount to poor service but if I were to rank the warmth of the receptions we had received on our stays throughout Thailand and Vietnam, this was the lowest.
We sat on the beach shortly after 11am and did not receive a message on the app. After some hours, my wife messaged the hotel asking whether the room was ready, in case they had forgotten about us, but received no reply. At 3pm, we went to reception and were told the room was ready. We asked why they had not replied to our message. Their response was that they only reply when the room is ready, an odd approach, one that is unlikely to be taken face to face. I told them we were a little disappointed that they weren't able to check us in earlier than that, given the size of the hotel and the length of our wait, and they repeated their policy, which was to only have the room ready from 3pm, and added that any priority would be given to families with children. We had to accept that but did not see why they couldn't reply to our message.
They then allocated us a room, which was different from the one they had mentioned earlier. This suggested that they hadn't got our room ready. They tried to deny knowledge of the original room and stated their policy which is to provide a room of the category booked (Deluxe etc), not a particular room. This new room, rather than having a view of the sea, had a view of the car park. Despite discussing our concerns with the manager, we were taken to the room with a view of the car park. After a few moments, we received a phone call from the manager telling us that the original room was now ready. We moved to that one. It had a tiny view of the sea but most prominent was a dirty grey looking stream that ran below, which appeared and smelt like an open sewer. We were polite throughout but made no secret of our disappointment with the service so far. They offered a discount at their restaurant which we declined.
This hotel is not cheap to stay in so the standard of the room was disappointing. It was large enough but plain and characterless. The prices of drinks were much higher than the other bars and hotels in the area so we went there. All drinks were served in plastic glasses, which did not make you want to buy another.
Interacting with the staff resulted mostly in having hotel policy quoted back at you, rather than a genuine desire to address any issues you might have. This smacked of an organisation, which had become complacent and thinks it will get the business without applying the high standards of customer service we are accustomed to seeing in this country. I do not blame the front line staff. They are most likely following instructions and working within limitations set for them by their superiors. The hotel's comparatively unique position on the beach may give them reason to believe they do not have to try as hard as the others, though I noticed another hotel under construction next door so their chickens may be coming home to roost sooner than they think. Having read the hotel's response to customer feedback in which it does not address individual points but states that these are 'isolated cases', I am reminded of the Post Office's response to the sub-postmasters' complaints, where they attempted a similar ruse. The hotel should be advised that the 'isolated cases' response does not work if all the feedback from their customers is public for all to see.
This is a hotel which priorities families and children. They do nothing to dissuade you of this notion. This can mean a busy pool, restaurant and noisy corridors at night.
On a positive note, the Sands bar which gives straight onto the beach is a pleasure. That's where we spent most of our days. My advice to people staying in Ao Nang would be to stay in a smaller hotel that looks after you and walk to the beach. My advice to the hotel would be to get your heads out of the sand. Trust takes years to build, seconds to break and a lifetime to repair.
We stayed here for my friend's 65th Birthday celebrations for four days.
This hotel has excellent beachfront location with easy walking access to Ao Nang's shops, restaurants and bars. It's also a great base for day trips to nearby islands.
This is family friendly resort with two pools, one with a waterslide.
Staff were friendly, helpful and attentive.
We stayed in a deluxe spacious double room on the ground floor with its own swim up pool, which we loved. The room are clean and comfortable.
The buffet breakfast was delicious too.
We had a wait before check-in which was acceptable so downloaded their app which notified us the room was ready 30 minutes early. We stayed in block 7 on the top floor with a great view out to sea. The room was modern all the usual facilities you would expect. Comfortable bed and a good balcony.
Breakfast was good in the main part of the hotel with a separate breakfast bar for the kids. Good variety of food for all nationalities.
We used the pool in front of our room nearest the beach. It was smaller but quieter than the main pool. There is a bar if you want to get out of the sun. Never a problem getting a sunbed but if you want a towel early you need to get one from the main pool.
The hotel is conveniently located near to the beach its row of massage places and the monkey trail - worth a visit.
A short walk along the beach road you hit the main road where there is an abundance of restaurants and bars. It gets lively and we are not late party goers but there is something for everyone. Most places had permanent happy hours with offers on big bottles of bear cocktails and pizza.
You’re about half a mile from a small night marked that opens at 5pm with stalls and bars.
There is something modernisation going on at a neighbouring hotel on the beach road which didn’t interfere with us at all but did mean the road was a bit muddy especially after it had rained.
We only eat in the hotel on the day we checked out and the food was good.
This is a nice hotel and ideally located.
Although this review is about the Centara Ao Nang Beach Resort & Spa Krabi, it has equally to do with Booking.com and their uncaring and dismissive attitude towards a 10 year loyal customer with Genius status.
I had made a very early booking to the Centara Ao Nang Beach Resort & Spa Krabi, in Thailand, for a trip from 13 November to 19 November. Having later discovered that November is usually the rainiest month in that part of the world, I cancelled the booking soon thereafter. It was shown as – and still is – cancelled on the Booking.com website; and so I did not give it much further thought.
Imagine my shock and horror, therefore, when my bank informed me that the above resort had billed an amount equivalent to above 2000 USD; and that the amount had been paid to to the Centara Resort. When questioned, the resort cited their standard reservation conditions, by which I was listed as a “No Show” and therefore liable for the full six night room charges. Apparently, my cancellation request had not been conveyed to them by Booking.com.
Naturally, I immediately contacted Booking.com an informed them of the situation. After promising me to look into the matter, they sent me a pro-forma reply, which was virtually a cut and paste job from the Resort’s cancellation policies – and effectively washed their hands off the whole situation. In short, they blindly accepted the Resort’s explanation; and apparently made no effort to conduct an independent enquiry. When I asked why was it, then, that their own website was listing the booking as cancelled, they did not respond. If this is the way they treat repeat customers, I shudder to think how they would handle genuine grievances of new customers. To add insult to injury, in their customer survey, I gave them the lowest possible rating and cited the reasons for doing so. And what was their response? Dead silence.
Needless to say, I will never patronize Booking.com again; and I would others to interact with them with abundant caution.
Very nice property that’s right on Ao Nong beach and within walking distance of the main strip of Ao Nong. The resort has lots of beach loungers, but you have to get up early and get them reserved if you want to sit with a beach front view. Lots of trees for shade.
The breakfast buffet is expansive and there were a lot of choices to eat. Service was good and the staff is friendly.
We used the Let’s Relax spa on the property. It was average, not as good as the Let’s Relax we went to in. Chiang Mai.
Our room was in building 7 on the 4th floor and offered an amazing view. The bed was comfortable and AC worked well. Housekeeping was good and kept the room clean and well supplied.
I would definitely stay here again. I think it’s a great place if you want to be within walking distance of lots of things to do during the day or for night life.
Friendly professional efficient coffee service. Ice is fantastic.
Great hotel. Clean. Good massage. Friendly helpful staff. Good location.
Wish we were here longer. Will come back one day I hope.
Hotel right on the beach with two large pools. Plenty of comfortable sun beds , probably as it was low season. We had a room opposite the front pool but preferred the pool near the restaurant as it was quieter. No door on the toilet as when you go in front door you are straight in the bathroom. Lovely large room. We had an end corner room so had extra verandah and larger private pool. It was very difficult getting in and out of due to the very deep steps and no hand rail. When we mentioned this they brought us a set of two-step steps to put on the first step, which shows how deep they were but this meant we could use the pool. There is no shop at the hotel which I found strange, so nowhere to buy crisps, snacks or necessities. Breakfast was okay for a three star hotel. Location good. Beach would have been good but we had a couple of days of bad weather when we arrived which brought in a lot crushed shells nd stones.
Lovely little hotel. Swim up room great pool & pool bar. Good breakfast. A 15 minute walk to main centre & beach. Nice area, shops and restaurants on your doorstep. Hotel arranged boat trip to the islands nearby. Very nice staff.
The only reason I booked this hotel was because of the location and privacy. But alas there is no privacy. The atmosphere is like a common area non customers are allowed to walk through the hotel and in front of the beach. Rooms - common man I paid 15k($182) per night and I had a drain view. There is no amenities in the room. The room service closes at 10.30 PM. There is no additional time allocated for late check out. Breakfast spread is good but most of the dish served were not fresh(made currently) but few hours ago and just being served so most of the food were just warm. The live counter was good and yes they had a separate section for kids which is thoughtful and something for the kids to enjoy. But for the amount I paid here I could easily book Westin or Marriot or Radisson and get more amenities in the room. Yea yea thwy are not available in the same location but there are others like Golden beach resort which is pefect and half the price. Oh and the beach restaurant is very very expensive.
Location is good, nearby a beautiful beach. The staff are very friendly and helpful. We ordered in room dining service, not expensive, totally acceptable. I would like to live here more than 10days, 3days are too short🥹
The location of this hotel makes all the difference — it’s set on one of the most beautiful beaches in Thailand! The beach has monkeys, smoothie stands, massage spots, and restaurants right along the shore. In the evenings, there are fun fire shows that add to the atmosphere.
The hotel is just a 5-minute walk from the main Ao Nang promenade. The rooms are spacious and quite simple but meet all basic needs. Breakfast is nice, though the dining area isn’t air-conditioned.
We stayed in a family room — the kids’ bunk bed area was a bit small, but overall it’s a great hotel that offers excellent value for money.
Highly recommended for families!
Centara Ao nang beach resort good location on the beach quiet end of Ao nang beach.
Easy to walk to restaurants shops and bars.
All the staff have been attentive and accommodating from checking in to the housekeeping staff , and especially Ru and Rayya at the Coco pool bar who are always smiling and looking after us well.
This hotel is a very family orientated hotel.
