Absolutely unacceptable experience.
I prepaid $3,905.28 through the Revolut app for a 19-day stay at Residence Inn Boca Raton. When I arrived, the hotel staff told me I only owed $1,770—which I paid on the spot. I asked multiple times if that was correct, and they confirmed it. Then, more than a week later, I was told I owed an additional $1,200+ without taxes.
This mistake was entirely on the hotel’s side, but they’re trying to force me to pay more money I simply don’t owe. They are now threatening to kick me and my children out even though I’ve already paid in full and have confirmation from the booking platform.
I have written proof from Revolut that the total amount was prepaid. The hotel’s behavior is unprofessional, disorganized, and hostile. Instead of owning up to their mistake, they are bullying guests and trying to double charge.
This has caused me extreme stress and financial strain during what should have been a simple prepaid stay. Absolutely disgraceful. I’ll never return, and I strongly urge others to stay far away from this property unless you want to be scammed and harassed mid-stay.
I was very disappointed with my recent stay at the Residence Inn Boca Raton. The hotel is quite old and noticeably worn down. Be aware that all room doors are exterior entry.
The check-in desk is outdated and dingy, and there is nothing about the lobby that suggests ownership takes pride in or cares for this property. The wear and tear is obvious throughout — from the lobby to the rooms, and even the so-called workout room (which feels more like a workout closet with barely enough space to turn around).
The included breakfast was typical for an “included breakfast”… but only sadder. Limited options, lackluster presentation, and not much effort to make it feel welcoming or fresh.
The room was a tragedy — dark, dingy, musty, and worn. I can’t imagine anyone uses this for an extended stay and actually enjoys it. The bathroom was especially disappointing: worn, in disarray, and in desperate need of repair.
I’m genuinely surprised that the Marriott brand continues to associate with a property in this condition, as it does not reflect the standards typically expected from the company.
I absolutely hate giving bad reviews but I feel I need to with this one. We travel a lot as a family and this is probably one of the worst hotels we've stayed at. We booked our room and told them we'd be checking in around 9pm as we were driving from out of state. When I went to check in they told me they gave our room away. We were able to get a different one but for $155 this is a 2 star room at best. The images on the listing are absolutely misleading! I don't understand the positive reviews, I have posted photos to look at, there is zero excuse for this.
The lights are dim, the room was musty, dirty vents, 2 bath towels for a group of 5 people, the floor in the living room bowed and made noise when standing on it, stained cushions and mattress on the couch. The mold and mildew in the room caused me a sinus infection that I needed to get antibiotics for. I am extremely allergic. I had to go down to the office and ask for pillows, blankets and sheets for the pullout. At least the king bed and bathroom shower seemed clean. The lady at the front desk for check in was polite though no ask from the morning staff as to how my stay was.
The spaciousness
The room we was placed in was moldy and when brought to front desk attention was brushed off and was mocked when arrived and was not helped properly by staff the property front desk agents lacks customer service and empathy. The only person that took us to consideration was the young lady 7-4 on 5/10 she was able to swap our room after 16hrs + in a molded room. The place needs to be evaluated for molding and have a good quality chat with the staff regarding cleanliness
Location
Cleanliness.
We were given an accessible room in the first floor than was dark and gloomy with bare single fluorescent bulbs in the fixtures and worn furniture. Asked for a different room, and the second was AWFUL and UNSAFE. Still shark, gloomy and worm. The wall behind the toilet in the bathroom was soft and moldy. They knew about it because it had been painted over multiple times without fixing the water problem. I flushed the toilet after using it and heard a “pop”. Water came gushing out from behind the wall and flooded the kitchen carpet on the other side of the wall.
OMG. Got the hell out of that hotel as soon as I could. Marriott should be ashamed. The place should be condemned.
i felt unasfe. front desk was not helpful at all. i will never stay atca Mariott property again.
Large room but the carpet was very dirty and generally not very clean. Otherwise ok!
Poor place ! Terrible
The staff were very nice. The a/c in our room wasn’t working and they fixed it within 10 minutes of us contacting them. The facility is older and can use some updates/freshening up. The couch and the mattresses were uncomfortable. They seemed old and in need of replacing. However, the room was clean.
This is one of the worst properties I've ever stayed at. It's old but not well kept. The rooms stink like mold and old mustiness, there's not enough blankets sheets or pillows, when called, I was told they only have sheets, but I have to come pick it up. I have a toddler and that's not very easy to do. Everyone has been nice but that's the only good so far. Had it not been so late, I would refuse to stay here . I'm about in tears over this. I can't handle the smell, and there's an old fabreeze plug in, so it's just adding to the stink. I have asthma and migraines, both of which smells aggravate. I am not happy at all.
Good location!!
It was okay
Do not stay here if you value your safety and health! Musty smell, outdated locks, murder van in the parking lot. NO. Just NOPE. We booked 2 nights, made it through the one night, however booked a different stay for the other night at a different hotel because I value my life, health and safety. This property needs a HUGE overhauling and I can't believe it is being listed. The manager knows. Marriott should def look into this.
The rooms were smelling, worn out and old. The air conditioner was not properly working. Attempted to call front desk for solution or a change of suite but phone was not working properly. Front desk never called back to find out the problem.
I could not believe that this is Residence Inn that I was staying. It felt like I was in a cheap motel.
This place is awful. The pictures do not show true status of the property. In addition, the air conditioning system is so old and the room smelled like mold. Bed mattress old and pillows terrible. We had to book another hotel.
This property is not in any way up to Marriott's high standards. Our room had no parking place within 200 yards of the room. The room itself was hidden behind the building where we had to walk the length of a football field.
Located on the second floor, the steps up to the room were old wooden steps with cracking treads. Hand rails were creaky and a little scary.
The room itself was very old and needed care.
The back of the building where we were was located very close to route 95 in Florida and the passing cars made us think we were at a NASCAR event. My wife felt very unsafe in the neighborhood and was firm in assessing that we weren't going to stay there. We returned our room key and left, despite having already paid for the night.
I don’t understand the reviews for this place! It’s spotless, on a pretty lake, free breakfast and parking and the workers are super nice! Is it older? Yes, who cares as long as it’s clean. They don’t deserve 1 stars. I am always honest in my reviews and I would recommend this hotel!
