Grossly overpriced because of local university event for a DUMP
Pros:

Desperately needs a renovation! I was charged double the rate booking through Marriot even though I’m a bonvoy member !!
As the hotel knows exactly when the local universities have events and purposely doubles and triples the hotels rates for the exact same dumpy room they my next door room neighbor who I could hear every word through the thin walls told me they paid!!!!

"Walked" By this Hotel and out $1,900
Pros:

I booked my reservation at this hotel in January '25 for a stay in late September '25. The purpose of the stay was to visit my SU freshman for parents weekend. Three days prior to check-in date, the hotel informed me, via email, that there was system glitch causing them to overbooked, and as a result my reservation would be cancelled. A dubious explanation at best. Good news though, I was told they found me a room at a "comparable" hotel for the same rate. The so called "comparable" hotel was 40 miles away and was not a Marriot property. Not wanting to stay 40 miles away for this important weekend, I decided to find and book a room at another Marriott property in Syracuse. Unfortunately, due to the short notice, the full price for that two night stay was $1,900 more than my original reservation amount. The GM at the Courtyard Carrier Circle refuses to reimburse us for that difference, relying on the Marriot policy, apparently, that a stay at a "comparable" hotel is the extent of their obligation, and, evidently, what qualifies as "comparable" is entirely at their discretion. Marriott corporate will take no responsibility for the matter either, so I am out $1,900. To be fully transparent - the GM at Courtyard Carrier Circle did offer a future two night stay and an additional 2500 Bonvoy points (worth roughly $10 I think). Neither of these added offers addressed the underlying need, however, which was two nights in a hotel, somewhere near Syracuse. I realize this practice of hotel "walking" is not necessarily illegal - or even all that rare unfortunately - but the fact that hotels can do this indiscriminately is just bananas to me.

Pros:

Clean and comfortable room.

Cons:

The hotel charged me for the room too when I had already paid booking.com. They said booking .com credit card was declined.

Hotel was understaffed. Free breakfast initially wasnt free but they were too busy to figure it out and comped the breakfast. Front desk staff was running the restaurant and long line just to get coffee. I have stayed in lesser quality hotels at lower cost with better provided amenities. Marriott is a quality hotel chain but missed the mark at this location. It was obviously understaffed and the customers suffered for it.

DO NOT BOOK
Pros:

DO NOT BOOK HERE! They do not honor reservations. They overbook and will cancel your reservation, leaving you without a feasible option. I booked a room for Family Weekend at Syracuse University for September 2025 back in July. Knowing that everything in Syracuse fills up quickly for this weekend, I felt fortunate to secure a reservation. However, on September 21—just THREE DAYS before my scheduled arrival—I was informed that my reservation had been canceled due to significant overbooking.

Apparently, the hotel had been aware of this situation since January but chose to wait until the week of my arrival to inform anyone. While the hotel manager was apologetic, she was also dismissive. The only rooms available at that point were at a different hotel chain, located over 40 miles away, which would add an hour to the drive to see my son. I’m not alone in this experience; I was told that many other reservations were also canceled.

Needless to say, I am upset because I was not able to visit my son. Many families attending Syracuse will likely be unhappy as well. I have been informed that this happens often. This is terrible customer service!

Charmless but functional
Pros:

Needed a simple roadside hotel for midway stop on a road trip. This place functioned well enough for the purpose. Standard cookie-cutter Courtyard room design. Pleasant staff. It's a bit of an odd location among a cluster of other hotel properties - not convenient to anything except the highway. Inadequate soundproofing (I could hear the fellow in the next room every time he coughed, which was frequently).
