Satisfying
Pros:

Location as per our journey plan. Breakfast varieties and good. Staff are polite and helpful. My choice for short stay while in Kuching as pricey for long stay:)-. Love to walk at the waterfront at night watching buskers and lightings.

Cons:

Nil. Hope to get better price in future :)-

Comfortable clean place, will definitely go back again, but probably with a thinner blanket

The location is quite strategic, with the waterfront being right across and many recommended places nearby

Cons:

The pool, which is in the Puteri wing was subpar. It looked like it wasn’t maintained properly.
The Aircond in the room was really cold (which is good), but the duvet/ blanket that was given made it extremely hot to be under; so it was 2 extremes either or.

Swimming pool n gym has to to purti wing
Pros:

I like the river view of it.it is kuching waterfront.

Cons:

I have children’s so we will use swimming pool n gym.but the swimming pool n gym is at the putri wing.we have long way to go there.we only had time to go gym at 8pm.the pool is already close.the way to go there is felt long..so i dont want to take my child to swimming pool the other day.the breakfast is just ordinary.

Fine but dont come if you want to use the pool
Cons:

The biggest issue for us was that the hotel feels quite worn and inconsistent. Some parts seem nice, but others feel outdated or poorly maintained.

Also the pool had some murky water which is a clear signs of bacteria. The hotel was almost empty when we visited.

We experienced cleanliness issues, which is something we’re quite sensitive to coming from Denmark. There are multiple reports (and we felt it too) of things like mould, stains, or rooms not being properly serviced.

The service can be slow or inconsistent. For example, requests sometimes needed to be repeated, and things didn’t always happen quickly.

The hotel is marketed at a higher standard, but it doesn’t really feel like it lives up to that. It’s more of a mid-range hotel pretending to be something more.

We also had some practical frustrations as a family:

Missing items in the room (towels, etc.)
Maintenance issues
General lack of consistency

These small things add up when traveling with kids.

Pros:

Breakfast buffet and the room (bed and all) are great. There's a small fridge provided but I think its a bit watery. The pool is at the other side of the tower and they provided towels for swimmers to use. Other than that, everything looks good.

Reasonable buffet bfst
Pros:

Good location. Across riverfront. Walking distance to restaurant and tourist attraction. High water pressure for shower.

My experience at the Astana Wing
Pros:

Location is fantastic as it is right smack in the middle of the city. I also like that room service has now been extended to 2am which is fantastic. The chicken satay (room service) is awesome!

Cons:

Room was dirty. Duvet was stained. Room wasn't vacuumed daily so you see dirt and hair on the floor. We also had to remind housekeeping to clean the toilet.
Security was atrocious as we were followed into the lift one evening by someone who didn't have a room key and was about to follow us out of the room when he said he was visiting friends at level 6 which was not our room level. Upon reaching level 11, we told him to get out and we took the lift back down to report to your security. This is not the first time this has happened and we have clocked in a total of 41 room nights in total at this hotel from Dec 2024.
