Suitable Basecamp for Visiting LaGrange
Pros:

We stayed at the Hampton for two nights in connection with a visit with family. It's a chain hotel just off of an interstate, which in itself says a lot. Our room was large and well funished, including the bathroom. The bed was comfortable. The room was quiet at night, but the window shade did not do a good job of keeping light out. That's why I bring a sleep mask when I travel, which solved the problem.

WiFi was easy to access and operated well. The hotel has a decent, if not extravagant, fitness center. It served a complimentary buffet hot breakfast which was pretty featureless. Unfortunately the only restaurant of coffee house within walking distance was a Waffle House.

The most disturbing feature of the room was the damage around the outer door handle and lock. I've attached a photo. It looks like someone tried to break into the room with a crowbar. It does not give guests a sense of security.

I'm still giving the hotel a high rating because it is just a few miles from downtown LaGrange, which is a real gem. LaGrange has a nice downtown that remains active at night, with many choices for dining and shopping. The town square is gorgeous, and there appears to be a number of nice cultural institutions in the area. LaGrange is worth a visit, and this hotel is a good basecamp for making one.

It seemed like it was in a safe area and off the beaten path. The room was nice and clean.

Cons:

Their phones had been out for TWO days as tried to verify my reservation at least TEN times the prior day and nobody ever answered. Two trash cans stayed filled up and were never emptied the entire time we were there one inside and the other outside. The breakfast was ok but the lady tending it needed help as although she was very friendly she was very slow in refilling things as while we ate we noticed TWO metal canisters were out of coffee and it took 10 minutes plus to fill each of them, the butter cannister was empty for quite a while, and all the milk was emptied except for skim milk. She clearly needed help or was not capable of runnng it by herself.

It met our needs for a last minute booking but was expensive for a location right on the interstate.

Don’t use Booking.com
Pros:

Staff was nice

Cons:

The room was over booked. I tried to call Booking.com and the lady behind the counter tried to call. They had no rooms available for me, my wife and two small grandkids. Again B the hostess was extremely nice and tried very hard to get in touch with Booking.com she did call another hotel down the rd twice as expensive but it was late and we had to get off the road.
