Heard bad reviews but found them good. Attentive and helpfull staff. Rooms clean and relatively quiet. Location good. Dinner below average and expensive. Breakfast above average
Very quirky and designer look, rooms were small and compact, view was wasteland and a derelict shed. Breakfast was basic and not a lot of choice, not much fruit or Japanese food. Good location, close to the subway and town.
We stayed 4 nights at this hotel during our trip around Japan.
The rooms are very modern and the def is the most comfortable we slept in (and the biggest). We had a corner room which we liked.
The hotel itself is well situated close to the underground network and bars and restaurants.
If you like a decent glass of Sauvignon Blanc at a reasonable price the Pig and Whistle across the road is the place to go.
Breakfast was good with plenty of variety although the meet and greet and allocation of tables in the morning could be a bit slow on occasions particularly during busy times.
The staff were wonderful and friendly.
Overall a great experience-would recommend.
Stayed here for 6 nights whilst on our 5 week touring holiday around Japan, room 213. Loved the hotel but probably because it was by far one of the nicest we had stayed in up to this point. It was probably the most western, the guests mainly American and European. We had stayed in quite a few hotels with pretty firm beds and small rooms so the room here was huge in comparison and the bed was the biggest bed I have ever slept in, we have a super king size at home and this was way, way bigger, you could have slept 6 people comfortably in there, I kept loosing my husband in it during the night!! And when I say comfortable, that was my only complaint, it was so comfy I could not bear to leave it in the morning, plus the fact that breakfast was until 10.30, I had every excuse to stay in it for as long as possible and yet so much to do and see in Kyoto. The room had everything you would expect in it for Japan hotel, fridge, coffee making, dressing gowns, slippers, the one thing they could have done with was a larger wardrobe or at least more than 4 hangars supplied per room but I guess you could have asked for more. Conveniently situated near the subway station for ease of getting everywhere. Only about 5 minute walk to the Pomtocho district with all the small eateries although I would highly recommend the following restaurants, after 3 weeks in Japan we were ready for some different styles of food:- Italian for neopolitan style pizza called “Pizzeria da Naghino”, for Okonomiyaki and wonderful garlic shrimp try “Teppanyaki Manryu” and for beef tonkatsu “Gyukatsu Motomura” and a great Indian called “Mughal” (see my reviews on all 4). We did not eat in the hotel restaurant but the breakfast was very good, making fresh omelettes for you and on until late. They had a bar if you fancied a drink making various cocktails and also a small area where you could make yourself a Starbucks Nespresso coffee and get a couple of small snacks. The staff are very friendly and efficient. Can highly recommend a stay here and part of the Accor group if you are collecting your points.
Well located, very close to metro station and restaurants, shopping. Very good breakfast, friendly service, beautiful hotel lobby and restaurant. Rooms a bit small but comfortable.
Great hotel and staff
Service was slow upon check in and at breakfast. Staff seemed overwhelmed. Window screen was broken and room appeared to be dusty near window and behind tv. Otherwise, bed was comfortable and location is hard to beat.
Great location - so close to restaurants and other sights while still feeling a bit off the main road
Rooms were clean and staff were very courteous. My wife really liked the free coffee and hot milk in first floor offered by the hotel. I recommend this hotel.
Gorgeous hotel in a convenient location for sightseeing. Wonderful breakfast with traditional Japanese and western breakfast options!
Super nice, clean, new hotel in a great location.
Exceptional hotel. Everything was to the highest standards
nothing special
Impeccable in every way. Highly recommended, we loved the location and comfort.
Hotel from outside doesn't look great but at the second you step in you change your opinion, it's a beautiful hotel, well situated between the Gion district and across the river less than 10 minutes walk all the traffic and vibrancy of the city, near to bars and restaurants, great drinks at the bar, rooms on the small side but very nice.
beautiful lobby, bar & room. staff was very helpful & friendly. subway entrance right next door
would definitely stay here again
Great location near the Gion and lovely property. Only slight issue was the lack of storage space in our room. Massive bed and amazing shower. Very walkable location.
The most comfortable and soft beds in Japan!
Spa was awesome! Very close to great restaurants & sites.
I stayed at the hotel during japanese winter and had a very good experience nevertheless. The hotel itself is comfortable and stylish, with a bed that was especially good after long days exploring the city. I also liked the location, right by the subway and surrounded by plenty of restaurants.
Breakfast was well prepared and varied, and I found the bamboo forest on the lower floor a unique and calming detail. The mix of Eastern and Western design throughout the property worked surprisingly well.
The staff were consistently polite, attentive, and welcoming, which made the stay even more enjoyable. The only drawback was that the rooms are a little bit on the smaller side.
