A nice choice if you're a pet owner.
Pros:

My wife and I just completed a 2 night stay at the Homewood Suites Poughkeepsie and I wanted to pass on some quick thoughts before I move on.

Pros
We were well-greeted by Yvonne, who checked us in quickly and seemed to have a kind word for each guest she dealt with. We received the now-usual (automated?) text asking us how things are going within the first 10 minutes of our arrival, and when we reported that housekeeping had only provided 2 towels for our entire stay she was happy to provide us with extras at the desk or she could have them brought up.
The hotel is in a convenient location to visit the Hyde Park attractions, which we were there for. A large free parking lot and many nearby restaurants make it convenient as well.
Although we didn't partake the hotel offers a small basketball hoop, sitting area, and free putting green to keep families happy.
The HVAC included a 'constant fan' setting which helped diminish noises from other rooms and the hallway (I did notice a bit of hallway noise when it was not on).

Cons
While I've stayed in 'pet friendly' hotels before it was always by accident, like this time - I should pay more attention! In other hotels, however, you'd hardly know this was the case, but at this Homewood Suites it is quickly apparent. Once past the lobby the smell of something 'off', coupled with a strong disinfectant overlay, was always present - the elevator and hallways especially. We did notice a bit of an odor in our room as well, but it was mild enough that we quickly adapted.
Continuing the same theme - when my wife went down to get additional bath towels for our room she notice a woman with a small dog getting on the elevator. When my wife returned to the elevator? - no woman or dog, but a wet floor that we had to report to Yvonne.

Due to the above I think I'd pick a different hotel next time.

Amazing location and awesome staff
Pros:

This location is great-walking distance to CVS, sushi, frozen yogurt, Starbucks, five guys, playa and Red Robin’s. Literally 4 minutes or less. Good breakfast each day. Clean rooms. Laundry onsite, pool, Exercise room, mini golf, basketball court etc. All the staff were friendly and helpful. We stayed 5 days-2 rooms-party of 5 and would stay again.

Pros:

Great staff, they were very friendly. Housekeeping was great as well and very consistent and helpful. The room far exceeded my expectations and was very spacious and comfortable. Breakfast was also amazing! The pool and outdoor area was beautiful and entertaining for any family.

Cons:

My only con was the AC in the room didn’t seem to work too well after a while.
