Lovely hotel, amazing location, would definitely stay there again!
Pros:

The location was great, easy to navigate, away from the crowds so peaceful nights sleep but short walk to restaurants, sights and underground. Room was spacious and clean. Hotel staff were super helpful, location was great, didn’t pay for breakfast but nice to be able to grab a pastry for free and coffee/matcha. Happy hour was a lovely surprise!

Cons:

Everything was amazing, only thing that could have been better would be room clean to replace bins and refresh towels. As we were doing a short stay (2 nights), no room service, but could empty bin and leave bag outside with dirty towels to replace - not an issue but just something you have to remember.

Amazing location, free drinks including alcoholic drinks during certain hours, beautiful lobby, comfortable bed, luxury shower and bath, free laundry

Cons:

Had to request room service specifically and be out of room between 10 and 3pm if service was requested.

Exceptional stay in Kyoto with amazing location, comfort and amenities
Pros:

Amazing amenities! Free happy hour every evening in the lounge, free coffee and croissants in the morning, free laundry. Amazing location for exploring! Very walkable. Extremely nice private onsen available for reservations for a small price.

FABULOUS hotel in Kyoto- cannot recommend highly enough
Pros:

Convenient location for visiting many different sites in Tokyo. On a small street, but off of a main street, where it’s easy to get a taxi. Close to a metro station.
The hotel is beautiful. The room had absolutely everything we could need, was extremely comfortable and clean with tons of free amenities. The lounge with free drinks was awesome. The staff were beyond professional and accommodating. I just loved this place. Favorite of 3 stays in Kyoto.

A lovely modern hotel in a great location, but with a few important drawbacks
Pros:

We had a very pleasant stay at Gion Ichirin. The location is excellent, especially for exploring the beautiful historic streets of Gion and the surrounding areas of Kyoto.

The rooms are modern, beautifully maintained, and spotlessly clean. Everything feels fresh and thoughtfully designed, with plenty of useful amenities and small details that make the stay comfortable. The overall impression is of a well-kept, high-quality boutique hotel.

Overall, though, our experience was positive. The excellent location, modern rooms, cleanliness, and attention to detail make Gion Ichirin a very pleasant place to stay, as long as you are aware of these limitations before booking.

Cons:

However, there were two things that disappointed us.

First, we were surprised to discover that the hotel does not offer breakfast at all. For a hotel of this standard, we would have appreciated having that option.

Second, and more importantly, there are essentially no views from the rooms. All the windows have opaque glass, so although natural light comes in, you cannot actually see outside. This creates a somewhat enclosed feeling, which becomes more noticeable during a longer stay.

For these reasons, I would personally recommend this hotel for a short stay of one night rather than several nights.

The property was in an incredible location, the hotel felt like the perfect mix of traditional and modern and the bed was extremely comfortable.

Cons:

Because we were only there for a short stay there was no daily room cleaning. That said, fresh towels were provided daily and you leave rubbish out for collection so it wasn’t really an issue.
