Sheets smelled, staff did not clean the room/provide clean towels,so we came back to dirty room, unmade beds and dirty towels and bathroom
Mattress sagged
While this seems to be a newer(ish) Courtyard, the rooms have several things going against it:
1. We rented a room with a king bed and sofa bed, for 3 of us. Even for one night, with 3 suitcases, it was really hard to move around in.
2. Also, the peril of “pet friendly” also meant that the wood headboard was clawed like a dog was trying to escape.
3. The door in front of the mini fridge was also broken, adding another obstacle to the room.
And here’s the thing: when the room is $300 AND they charge you $10 to park in their UNCOVERED, UNSECURED lot, well…
Clean, relatively quiet
Noisy neighbors
I grew up in Poughkeepsie and have stayed at the Courtyard Marriott when visiting friends and families for 25 years, beginning before the murder that occured in the dining room in 2022. This hotel was once a desirable place to say. No more. Food prices on the menu are incorrect. Actual prices were 25% higher than listed on the menu. The staff shrugged their shoulders at this. "I cannot do anything about that." There is a charge for parking. It is not free as this site advertises. The hotel has a musty odor throughout. Family members in other rooms note this also. There are plenty of alternatives in the area for overnight stays. I will not be returning to this hotel and will advise friends and family to avoid this hotel in the future.
3 weddings and still a smile from everyone.
I arrived early to visit with family. Staff was very accommodating to the bunch of us who arrived before 4pm. The desk agent told me there were 3 wedding groups that night and they had been full the night before.
No restaurant or bar. I did see people go I to they marketplace.
Room was clean. Except the AC unit. Toilet was low. If traveling with and older person ask for and accessible room.
Only 1 elevator that was a long walk from reception. We opted to wait for a first floor room. There is a lower level on part of the building.
Courtyard looked like it needed some landscaping.
Location and facilities
No free coffee available. Staff was just ok. We were not informed of the cleaning schedule. We were charged for parking, which was a joke!!
Clean spacious room. Was able to
check in early as requested.
I booked on booking.com and it ended up being 150 more than if i booked that day. What a rip off.
I booked a room nine months prior and when i arrived had to wait an hour an 15 mins beyond check in time for a clean room. My 86 yr old parents one with dementia and i had to sit in the cold lobby and wait!!!!
The elevators are not centrally located -they are at the furthest end away from the lobby and of worse our room.
The premises were immaculate, staff was extremely accommodating and friendly and the rooms were better than expected.
We wanted a weekend away and wanted to see the FDR home and library. We booked our reservation at the Courtyard for the convenience of a Marriott. The hotel is conveniently on Rte. 9, easy to get in and out of and the grounds are very nice. Check in was a delight and while I am sorry that I did not catch her name, the woman that checked us in was wonderful. Our room, like the rest of the hotel, was spotlessly clean, comfortable and the beds were very comfortable with great fluffy pillows.
The thing that was very nice is that the room was quiet. No outside noises made it into the room. The hotel has a very nice little cafe area where you can get a coffee, glass of wine or a bite to eat. The young lady that checked us out was very helpful and patient with me as I had a question about the invoice (my error, I missed something when booking and it wasn’t a deal breaker).
One observation that is different from many reviews on this site…the stairs and hallways. The stairs and hallways are not bad at all. We would definitely recommend you stay here.
This hotel checked all the boxes. Updated clean. Comfortable beds. Very convenient to the New Paltz area and Poughkeepsie .
