The building itself is beautiful on the inside. It's old, it's cool, and it's ultimately what drew us here. The bedding was superb, beautiful pillows down in Comforter, and the view from the top is great.
The hotel is dirty and not just because it's old because the staff is either understaffed or not been trained in proper cleaning but you know it's kind of gross and then the room we stayed in only had one coffee pod and I sent message down to the front desk that we needed another coffee pod at least since there were two of us and another blanket and the person at the front desk said that they would let housekeeping know and lo and behold nobody came by with extra coffee and nobody came by with an extra blanket the whole night passed and into the next morning still no contact from the staff disappointed not a big task to get somebody two pods of coffee when you know there are two people staying in the room. There's no parking nearby, so you could either spend $40 to have your car parked by the valet or a park in a lot around the corner for like $30 total ripoff. What do you do when you have to carry all your stuff up to the room? city blocks with your pillows and your bags and take all these trips.
No microwave no mini fridge- nothing complimentary
It was super clean and I lost the garden tub in the corner rooms on the higher floors! It’s super hard to find hotels like that anymore!
I would recommend eating off property, the drinks are either way too sugary or too strong and they do not know what chicken piccata is. 35 dollars for an over cooked chicken breast and some weird creamy truffle sauce instead of the traditional lemon sauce from frying the chicken cutlets.
I did like the staff at check in. She was friendly.
The lie about the cost of the hotel. It was actually more than I was told by booking.com. The bathroom toilet looked like it has not been cleaned. There was grim in the shower and even on the floor. That will be the last time I stay there or use booking.com.
Old and quaint
Need someone to pick up trash by elevators. Our room had paint touch up that didn’t match. Hotel needed some attention
The looks of the hotel. Everything worked. Rooms felt cozy and very sound proof like no one else there. The view was great.
The price of room, with no refrigerator in the room, cold coffee, no choices on coffee creamer, no continental breakfast. AND NO PARKING ANYWHERE EXCEPT EXPENSIVE PARKING GARAGE OR VALET PARKING FOR$42. The staff was just there not friendly just there.
Hotel Philips was a nice historical hotel. I enjoyed the quietness of the hotel and the aesthetics of the building. It seemed that many of the original hardware are still a part of the decor, which I enjoyed. The staff (Sean and Edward) were professional, friendly, and accommodating. Also, I like that there was the Tavernonna, Italian kitchen restaurant that was in the hotel.
The hotel room was dusty not just dust from a day or two or weekly fabric fibers or dirty, but dust that had settled around the edges of the carpet, pictures, table legs, and baseboard that had not been cleaned. After being notified of this issue, the room was vacuumed, but I did the dusting myself. Aside from that issue, the hotel was good and it lived up to being a historical hotel.
Location is good.
Our room was warm and we couldn't get the AC to cool. We like it cool and set the thermostat at 68, but never got below 72. Stuffy for us "cool" sleepers
Phenomenal service by the Valet team; the team was courteous, helpful and garnered my confidence and trust. Leadership does matter and the young man / gentleman that led the team was outstanding. Well done overall
Caleb at the Valet station was helpful and kind. Appreciate him.
Shane in Valet was great! Friendly and courteous.
