With its Victorian architecture and fresh approach to hospitality, Kimpton Clocktower Hotel is the perfect expression of its setting: Manchester, a city where tradition and modernity meet and where artisanship reigns supreme. Housed in a magnificent terracotta Grade II–listed building, Kimpton Clocktower has a history that dates back to 1890, when the building first opened as The Refuge Assurance Company headquarters. Today, it’s a destination where glamor and luxury meets one-of-a-kind craftsmanship—and where there are new things to discover at every turn.

Phenomenal historic building that's been converted into a stunning hotel. The location was perfect for our visit and is very central. Nice touches such as the evening social hour and unique amenities in a very well equipped and comfortable room. Breakfast was incredible - freshly cooked well sourced food.
Being extremely picky - the room could have done with a floor lamp as you either had to have the main light on or the beside lights which didn't give enough brightness.
The shower wasn't the most powerful on 'rain shower' setting but was hot enough and the other setting worked fine.
Would have been better to be able to help yourself to tea / coffee at breakfast rather than having to ask staff who were attentive but clearly busy.
High ceilings, great building.

Beautiful building
The beds weren't the best
Fabulous as always, whenever am in Manchester always try to stay here, must be at least eight times now.Need I say more?
What a beautiful building. A real Architectual gem of the Victorian era. Great staff. Having the techno gym bench in the room was great and allowed me to pump some iron before I went to work in the morning :-).
Nothing. Unlike some other reviewers, I don’t believe you can deliberately choose to be in a historic building and then complain that you’re in a historic building, ignoring the obvious compromises in terms of structure and practicality…
Beautiful, amazing building.
Staff were lovely, chatty and helpful at whatever time of day.
Room was lovely, really comfortable bed, plenty of space, plugs and covered anything you might need. What was helpful was the sign explaining what else was available, as we needed to borrow a phone charger.
We parked in Oxford Street Car park which was at a discounted rate through the hotel, easy walking distance to the hotel and super secure.
Minimal gripes with the room and hotel, to be honest. I'd have put a separate hand soap by the sink as it took a minute to figure out where it was over the bath.
The staff are amazing, especially Patrick.
PARKING
This is a very grand, beautiful hotel in a great location. We have stayed here a few times and each time in a different room. This time our room was large with period features. We had a good view of the city and railway. The room was quiet and comfortable. The bathroom was large with a shower over the bath which was great. There were lots of free toiletries and snacks which is a lovely touch. Guests are also invited to a 'meet and greet' session each day for free drinks and snacks.
The room was a little bit cold and it was tricky to control the temperature. The bathroom felt a little exposed because although the large windows did have net curtains when the lights were on there were no blackout blinds.
Decor and bedding
Lots of steps, some transit areas, for example walk to the lifts, less than inspiring and slightly mis-matched to shared areas.
Magnificent architecture! A stunning place to visit. Comfy rooms, good tea tray and snacks. Firm beds. Baths. Central location.
Rooms noisy - not from outside but the doors to the 2 rooms adjoining mine had zero sound insulation. They looked lovely and authentic but I could hear every word, cough and f@rt from next door on both sides. It was unnerving.
