Schick und stylisch mit einigen Abstrichen
Pros:

Ein prachtvolles Gebäude mit Geschichte, sehr ruhig in Grunewald gelegen. Das gesamte Ambiente ist ästhetisch sehr ansprechend. Viel Gold, Marmor und Stuck, holzvertäfelte Wände und Decken... Sehr schick.

Cons:

Es ist ein Design-Hotel, gestaltet von Patrick Hellmann, der überall, wirklich überall im Haus seine Werke und seine Signatur hinterlassen hat. Für Fans von Hellmann sicher toll, für den Rest eher gewöhnungsbedürftig, denn sein Stil ist nicht jedermanns Geschmack, meiner jedenfalls nicht.

Im Bad gab es keinen Föhn! Warum? Hatte der Föhn nuxht zum Design gepasst? Ich musste es an der Rezeption anfragen jedenfalls er wurde ca 20 Minuten später gebracht. In jeder 2-Sterne-Absteige gehört ein Föhn zur Grundausstattung dazu, hier anscheinend nicht.

Der Spa-Bereich ist klein und hat nichts besonderes zu bieten. Der Fernseher hat keinen Internetanschluss, YouTube und Netflix ist also nicht drin. Beim Frühstück kann man mit einer extra Speisekarte frische Eierspeisen bestelle, diese wurde uns aber erst gebracht, als wir schon satt waren. Darüber hinaus hat das Frühstücksbuffet kaum etwas besonderes zu bieten, außer der frisch zubereiteten Ingwer-Shots und Säfte vielleicht. Bei dem Preis hatte ich irgenndwie mehr erwartet.

okay, we enjoyed it but expected more given the history and location.
Pros:

Breatfast was great, so was the overall grandness of the building, it felt good to be in such a historic villa.

Cons:

The whole experience felt transactional and much too businesslike. There was no sense of personal attention by staff. The gardens were not attended to, looking neglected. It felt the hotel was fantastic in the 90s and early 2000s and has lost its appeal. It could be so much better though if staff would make people feel more at home, welcome, and would be adding little personal touches. I had bought the stay as a birthday present and expected it to be more special.
