The Hillside Resort Siargao

The villa was comfortable and cozy and aesthetically appealing. However, there was a spark on our roof that seemed a precursor to a fire which kept us up at night. There was a crab that crawled out of the toilet, subsequently clogging it. In the pool, a woman was picking out lice from her daughter’s hair (into the water), saying the lice that inhabited her hair were large and plentiful, all within earshot of the staff. The property was also under construction, so we were unable to use the spa. The lagoon seemed dirty and unkempt

We were out for most of the day because we had excursions everyday we were there, but those were our complaints.

The hotel is close to the main road with tricycles that pass frequently (only 30 PHP per person). The staff were welcoming and friendly and the happy hour was delicious albeit limited.

Despite my reservations, we had an overall pleasant stay but would probably recommend a different resort to our friends

We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at the hillside resort. The staff were very welcoming and we loved the overall vibe of the resort. It was a very relaxing stay.

Need some renovation

Property is undergoing improvements, and it needs it. Staff are great, always trying to help and make your stay better. Once the improvements have been completed, I think it would be worth the money we paid.

The only thing good was the food..

The pool was dirty, jacuzzi was used as storage, rooms were a tiny box, no hot water, no water pressure, and bathroom appliances were all broken. There were tiny, dead bugs in all of the cocktails due to a dirty bar.

There were no towels in my room so I asked the front desk if I can get some so I can shower, and their response was “can’t you shower tomorrow?” When I said that I cannot wait until tomorrow to shower they said they don’t have any clean towels and that they are in the dryer. That was a lie because their dryer supposedly took 6 hours to dry. After 2 hours of begging they grabbed me used pool towels that were still wet. I couldn’t believe it.. Sad thing is they were very rude about it.

This place should be taken off of Expedia.

Message to management: The girls at the front desk are pocketing the money when guests order laundry service.

Very convenient place. All suggested places from the front desk was great. The pick up and drop off from the airport was prompt. Love the services. Quiet place.

The room was not as expected. It was old, dirty and there were lots of bugs. We killed two cockroaches in our room during our stay. The showerhead was rotten and broke off. The closet door did not open. The outside areas was ok, but not as advertised in the pictures. The establishment could use a renovation. There are a lot of similarly priced hotels in the same area I would rather stay in.

This place is great, especially if you want to be off the main road, but still close to everything.

Interior plumbing fixtures need to be updated.

Great place. The atmosphere of the resort is amazing. You cant tell there are other guests since the trees provide so much privacy. Again, the ambiance with the trees and natural woods makes it so lovely. Staff was very helpful and accommodating. The common areas are gorgeous and have such a great view of sunset. Didnt bother eating at the restaurant cos of prices; but its just Siargao prices in general. Massage place across the street is good.

Staff is accommodating and friendly. There are few things that need to be fixed. The shower temperature is either super hot or super cold, nothing in between. There’s barely water coming out from the sink faucet. Their jacuzzi is not working when I arrived but they have told me it hasn’t worked for a while. Though the resort is very calming, lots of trees and ornamental plants. So far I enjoyed my stay in spite of a few broken amenities. Their pool btw is surprisingly warm even though it is not heated.

Its a lovely place to stay but the mosquitoes in the room at night will eat you alive. The staff are happy to spray the room if you ask. Our room had stairs to the second level. They were very steep so make sure you are fit. Also the bathroom was on the lower level so negotiating the vertical stairs during the night was not for the faint hearted.

You can still improve the amenities

The Hillside Resort was the perfect stay for us. If you are looking for a quiet place close to the downtown area on Tourist Road, by bike it is 7 min. The resort had all services available (i.e. motorbike rental, island hopping tours, etc.) Its all away from the traffic and noise and the sound of nature around us was beyond the experience we anticipated. Maraming Salamat Hillside staff and management for the amazing service!
