The best place to stay In Greymouth.
Pros:

It was a large, comfortable, quiet room with good views. The shower was lovely. The position in Greymouth is very handy for the train.

Cons:

Nothing.

Cons:

The on-site restaurant. The staff are friendly and the chef is obviously very talented. Unfortunately the service is a let down. Some tweaks to existing systems and better communications with customers and the place would be great.

Pros:

Our room was clean, the bed was comfortable, pillows not so much.. The reception staff that checked us in was very nice.

Cons:

Our stay included breakfast. The staff member looking over breakfast wasn't friendly. No greeting just asked our room number and said 'Serve yourself'. Bit rude. Everything we ate at the restaurant tasted very sweet. The baked beans were full of sugar. The orange juice tasted watered down it was absolutely disgusting. We stayed for two nights and didn't bother to go down for breakfast on the second morning. We also had dinner at the in-house restaurant- Jimmy Cooks Kiwi Kitchen. We had the Arancini, the sauce that came with it was way too sweet and was more dessert like than savoury. Our Mains were cooked perfectly (Beef Cheeks and Lamb), however they were both served with the same glaze like sweet sauce with no sight of Jus (I assume this was the Jus, but I've never seen such a sticky Jus). I've never had mains that taste like dessert. This really left a bad taste and we ate elsewhere for the remainder of our stay.

The room had no AC but a stand fan was provided, the bathroom had no extractor fan, the window latch wasn't that great. Even with the heater off, the room got way too hot. We were sweating in the night during winter.

Pros:

Great location by the river.
Room was very comfortable and warm.

Cons:

The outside of the hotel was very rough and needed a lot of work, looked like rooms that are no longer used, however inside the hotel and the staff were totally fine

The rooms were great.
Pros:

The rooms were spacious and clean.

Cons:

The staff at check in was not very welcoming and she was training someone at the time. Not a good example. Maybe she was just having a bad day.
